Hey guys,

I am interested in this niche...I am doing chemical engineering so it will serve two purposes...but I need some ideas and good programs that promote related products...

Please, suggest any ideas if you have them...do you think this is a good idea? I am a new comer in this business and I feel lost with all of the information out there...thanks

Are you familiar with Knowledge Publications: http://www.knowledgepublications.com/?

They have lots of interesting books in the alternative energy niche. It might be a good place to examine for some brainstorming.

I've not seen these (info-products at least) convert very well yet because the information is so readily available or difficult to implement. In other words, its not a fast enough relief to the customer's problem.

Perhaps if you were able to find some companies that are selling the actually devices and see if you can work out an affiliate commission.

In other words, I think customers would more easily buy a tested $100 device to save gas before they would buy a $100 info product that they then have to spend $150 to build that device and pray it works.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

I think you are right...I could not find any other people online who are doing the same...I think I need to take another look at what I can do...this is frustrating...I cant apply what I am learning in college because there is no one who is going to actually want to save or generate their own energy...

Oh well atleast I have not spent anything...and I guess I could find some new ideas...my idea of expecting profits soon is killing me...lol

thanks though and please keep suggesting

The other day, you started a thread about niches and I posted about starting a alternative energy, Techmeme-site and said you weren't familiar with this.

Techmeme.com is the leading aggregator of computer and internet industry news and analysis, you can check it out @ Techmeme.

Well sure enough there's an article in the New York Times today about Techmeme and one of the aggregator sites they are interested in starting is energy.

I have seen a gadget that can save on fuel and its not hydrogen! I think I might have to give the guy a call and see if he's still running. It is a similar device used to prevent algae in koi ponds!

Actually it isn't correct that people in the alternate energy niche want working products not info products. I had a URL that I used to promote via articles, it went alternately to a click bank guide on HHO systems, and a completed unit. I sold the info product many times but nobody ever bought the finished product.

You should look into selling solar panels. With all the tax rebates that are out there, solar panels are cheaper than ever. In Oregon, where I'm from, solar panels are 80% off when you combine the federal and state tax incentives.

That means that solar panels will pay for themselves in 5 years instead of 25 years! I just started selling solar and have found some companies that pay upwards of $500 a sale. All you have to do is send them the referrals and they close the deal for you.

In my own niche research I became intrigued with the green niche which is somewhat related to the alternative energy niche. One of the sites I discovered was Affiliate Programs Directory - Eco Friendly Businesses and Web Merchants

If you start an alternative energy site they could have some products you could sell.

Came across a number of clickbank energy related products but reading the info on these products on google, it painted a picture of some of them as a scam. So it put me off.

Funny, but I saw an infomercial-type thing on late night television for making money with the green revolution. Cant remember the URL for the free book but if I see it again I will post.

    <Update: https://www.greenmillionaire.com/ >

My comment was not meant to discourage as providing free energy to the masses is my life's ultimate goal. It is merely not "where the money is" so to speak. The hardest lesson I have had to learn is "go where the money is" not necessarily into what you are very passionate about.

I have to agree with the green millionaire I have a alternative energy site homebuilt wind generator wind dc generator it is about five months old and I have spent more than I made $0. It is something I believe in so it will be around for a time. For making money I do not recommended this niche, you may do better than I good luck in any event.

Get yourself well ranked in the SERPS for relevant keywords. Start generating sufficient, well targeted traffic and then sale ad spots to companies who sell renewable energy products. Just go out and get a few to start. Observe stats like views and click throughs per client. Follow up to see if they are getting leads and / or sales through your portal. As you build more traffic, add more customers and so on. I think this type of model is far better then pursuing Adsense / Adwords, esp. in the green market.

There are essentially three types of people: 1. The type who can't be bothered, and thinks our current energy sources are inexhaustible; 2. The type who wants everything done for them, and will buy products that promise to do that, even though they might not make sense economically, except in the very long term; 3. The Do It Yourself type, who glories in making something, seeing it work, and saving some bucks at the same time.

You can't do anything with type 1. Time will take care of him. But as regards types 2 and 3, why not set up two WP sites, one addressing products people can buy right now, and the other addressing the do-it-yourselfer.

Then cross promote. A WP site is inexpensive, and a simple one is not hard to design and implement.

Some people insist (have insisted) that you'd be wasting your time. Nonsense. The market is there, you just need to learn how to tap into it.

    @GW,
I checked out your site. When the box opens for your AR,it doesnt look good or have anything to do with wind generators.
Just a opinion.I would give away a free ebook, just a general info type on how to save money at home with simple tips,ect...
Buy a plr ebook, then brand it as your own.Put affiliate links inside, thats what im going to do.
Make sure the affiliate links are at least decent products.

    I wouldn't waste your time.

My biggest regret of IM is investing 6 months in products that don't sell.

One of the biggest problems most newbies come across is that most of the "I'll show you how to make money online, just give me your email!" people tell them is:
pick something you're passionate about, or know a lot about, and make a product based on that information

They never tell the people to FIRST check out what kind of traffic there is for that type of product - and I don't care what mind-blowing gadget/book you've got, if there's no one who is looking for it online and wants to buy it, you won't make money.

Find out what people want to buy, and sell it to them. Not the other way around.
