A How to Guide on How to Build a Niche Site?

Hello all,

The thread about finding a work at home job inspired me to write this thread. I am new around here and new to the building a niche site. I am also a stay at home mom, certified school counselor who can't find a job in the school system. I have found some ways to make money at home, but after several months staying at home I found my greatest interest is making money from writing (adsense revenue).

About a month ago I purchased some websites to build a niche area. I would LOVE...I mean ABSOLUTELY LOVE...to make money from building a niche site. Am I kidding myself? Is it really possible?? Is there anyone here like me who can make money doing this? I am not a professional website flipper or designer or anything like that. I have a basic understanding of seo and how to create websites using CMS like Wordpress. So, is it possible to make money or do I need to be a professional?

Is there another website besides problogger or any resources you recommend for starting a niche site or to get into this business? Thanks for your kind help.

For a complete course on this go look up Roy Carter as I know he has one out that I know is good. I expect it is also expensive though which may be a problem, but I have worked with him before and now all the ridiculous hype on his website is true. Anyways just my 2c, and I admit I have started drinking (Calibanning) at this stage.

Regardless of which course you get I do suggest you get one. When the information is free nobody cares if it contains errors, and this can get you in a mess as a reader.

    Cheers,

The first thing is niche selection. This is done through research, instint, and keyword selection. After selecting the niche you must build the site. Building niche sites correctlyl takes time and effort and one of the things I have learned is it is hard to be good at everything. Building the site with SEO in mind so it ranks well because of the sites graphics, load time etc. is a skill and I have found outsourcing this part sometimes save time and mistakes eliminating some down time due to the learning curve involved.

Learning to create the content for your niche site is important, which is keyword based and interesting. It needs to remain niche focused, do not fall into the add another related area problem. The tighter the focus with better interesting content the better. You want material that keeps some one at your site and creates a click through to whatever affilllite program you choose to make money. Here outsourcing to good writers saves time to but it is a needed skill for longterm business success.

Last but not least with good site design, good content you still need to learn or outsource the job of building links. If your content is great and the keyword research excellent the site itself will take care of a part of getting ranked. But it still helps having some links that are quality and niche related. Other then that I don't know nothing other then if you hang out here long enough and you will get tons of helpful people and knowledge. Take care, Goodluck!

If you like creating website you can create with wordpress and sell them into flippa.com
I think it is not very hard and you need to study 1 week. If you use Thesis Theme with wordpress you can create perfect niche sites for sale.
First of all you buy a domain with good name and and install in it wordpress. It is easy with your hosting application panel. Automatic installing.
Then you need to find thesis theme to create flexible webpages. If you can not find you can pm me.
You can study for these "thesis theme tutorials".

If you do not like website selling you need to study for affilite marketing and other online revenue...

The best way to do is find your niche keyword, only then build you site. Personally, the best way to do this is to pick one of these service:

          Hi counselor mom,

I used to work as a school counselor in the states and abroad but I run sites and do IM for local biz.

Just a word of warning that will shave months off your learning curve, when it comes to learning all the new information try and pick one course and stick to it. This is just like learning an instrument or a sport; if you stick with one, you will get good. If you try something for a little while and then try something new, you are sure to be frustrated.

If you love writing, here is a great site to check out: problogger.net. They give great advice on getting paid to blog (adsense, advertisers, and job postings).

Wordpress is free, a year of hosting costs 89 bucks to run 100 sites, and wordtracker gives you a free 7 day trial to help you pick your key word niche. You can get started very cheaply if you watch your dimes and nickles.

I'd love to hear how things go...

pm me and we can talk shop
