Visually map your entire niche!

Got a real treat for you guys...

I don't know if you have seen this or not, but this software visual diagrams your niche, showing major sites, links between sites, etc.

TouchGraph | Products: Google Browser

It's a great way to identify/monitor competition and places to backlink at, perform link exchanges with, and so on

I remember seeing this a long time ago and lost the link to it. Love the visual representation and I remember thinking the same thing now that I thought back when I first saw this and that is "How the heck do I use this to my advantage!!!".....

    Respectfully,

Essentially what TouchGraph is doing is parsing data from the Google "Related searches" category. It then converts that data into a graphical "Wonder Wheel" type of presentation.

The advantage is, (if there is an advantage) is that you can get a pretty quick graphical view of a site's linking structure. The caveat being, as you know, Google does not reveal all the links to any site and it is safe to say that TouchGraph renders only a small percentage (a very, very small percentage) of a site's links.

Using "Michael Moore" [without quotes] as a search term in TouchGraph, the results rendered were exactly as those rendered if you went to Google and searched for "Michael Moore" [no quotes]and then clicked on "Related searches"

What can you use it for?

Some people are more adept at using graphics as opposed to text, I suppose.

    It's fun to play with?

You can impress your girlfriend, fiance or wife?

You can look like a mad scientist to fellow IMers?

    Take your pick...

In terms of TouchGraph revealing any earth shattering info on your niche and/or on your competitors, I didn't see it.

Of course, I could be missing something the creators of the application intended.

I figure it can be used a different perspective on where you sit in your niche. Your site compared to competition, how central you are, etcetera.

Probably more cool than useful, but its something that I intend to check my niches with every other month to see how things look
