A question for writers

Hello, Warriors!

I have a question for the writing Warriors.

I have a growing list of people that I have written articles for and they are pleased with my work.

Do those of you with a list of clients send an email every so often just to keep in touch, or do you figure this is not a good idea and they will contact you when they want to?

    Hi

I have learnt that you need to build and maintain a relationship with your clients all the time. If you don't you will find that somebody else will. If you could just take the time to say..... "thank you for appreicating my work, i appreciate working with you" you will be surprised the impact you have on that client. I bet you will be one of the first to do that. Many of us who provide service, are so full with providing the service and expect the "thankyou" from the receipient, that we forget there were so many other service providers bidding for the same opportunity......You were chosen.....say Thank you today and keep those clients wanting to use you again and again. Definitely keep in touch.

    To your success

I try to stay in touch as much as I can, but it gets hectic when you have hundreds of clients

I hope I will have hundreds of clients one day. You are my hero.

Do you send an occasional "Hey, how are you?" - type email, or newsletter, or what?

I send my list tidbits of really useful information on a fairly consistent basis. Then when I have some kind of special offer or discount to offer them, they are far more receptive.

I agree with Bev. What I usually do is ask whether or not they want to be included in my mailing list. I usually offer them something in exchange for their permission --- let's say a discount on their next order or something. I don't send out emails to previous clients unless they want to be contacted or if I have something really good to offer them.

I try to develop a rapport with clients and when I get a great client and don't hear from them for awhile I do follow up with a casual hello e-mail. How receptive they are will dictate whether or not I follow up like that more than once.

It is a good idea to keep a list of clients and their contact info, as well as a profile of the work you've done for them and what their interests/business focus may be. That will allow you go back to them periodically with information for them that is on-target with what their business interests are.

Always mine your existing customer list! I find that they convert at a much higher rate than potential new customers.

I agree with Bev, if they didn't sign up for a list, you don't want to just keep sending emails. If they want more work, they will contact you. But you can send an email to say thanks, ask for feedback or a testimonial.

If I have If I have done work for a client a couple of times and I haven't heard from them in a while, I will send them an email just to say hi and to see how they are doing. Some clients travel often and simply forget.

To answer your question... for those I do not have a friendly relationship with, I will inform them that I would be happy to work with them in the future. For clients, I have established a good relationship with, I will follow up with them periodically to see if they have any pending writing projects.

Remember, writing is a business. As with any business your job is to ensure your clients are satisfied. Creating happy and recurring clients involves submitting them quality work, professionalism, and showing them you care.

    Hi

I don't offer writing services but have bought them from other warriors. Most of them don't have any follow up after the deal is sealed but there are one or two who email me and let me know when they have new offers.

It's nice as a customer to have the heads up on what new and to feel they have taken the time to contact me.

    Best wishes

    Mary
