Do you Squidoo?

I am looking for some good information about Squidoo and how to use it to drive traffic to my sites. I searched here before I posted so as not to duplicate posts, but I was overwhelmed by the number of returns. Can anybody either give me good advice on how to use squidoo or point me to a good resource?

Thanks in advance!

  • Google Squidoo Queen. It's a bit old but was the authority on using squidoo to make money.

I may be wrong but I think Squidoo has lost some traction in the SERPS lately. Probably why there aren't a lot of guides being created for it.

    Hope this helps,

    • I'm certainly finding this. Whilst I used to be able to rank for carefully selected keywords without much/any backlinking now it takes a real effort to get my lens in a decent SERPS position

Haven't fully investigated it but have certainly cut down (all but eliminated) my Squidoo efforts now.

Hopefully someone who has been using it recently will have some more info though.

  • I will check it out. Thanks Hav!
  • I was wondering the same thing, Is squidoo worth the effort anymore?
  • I've heard the Hubpages is the new Squidoo

  • Squidoo is so over. Try Hubpages. InfoBarrel is meant to be the next Hubpages, but unless they put more effort into the site I don't see it myself.

  • Thanks everybody. Just set up my first hubpage!
  • Hi,

I have used Squidoo in the past, but my only objection to creating a lens, is all the distracting ads and other peoples lens the visitor can click on.

I prefer to use blogger.com for any free website work. But ultimately use my own domain on Wordpress, to make sure that no one can take my hard work away from me. What with all these free websites changing the rules all the time.

    • I don't think that Squidoo is dead yet. I have some old lenses that are still making money for me. However, I have found that it is much more profitable to use my own domains on my own hosting for my money sites and use Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger, etc. to drive traffic to my main sites.

  • Squidoo is interesting. Every couple of months or so, I get an email saying that Squidoo is sending me a check for around $5 dollars for some lenses I threw up several years ago. It's not much but I'm not making any money from any other platform (e.g., Hubpages, etc.)
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Squidoo is far from dead. Although Hub Pages finally surpassed Squidoo in the Alexa Rankings about a week ago.( 211 for Hub vs 234 Squidoo)

The new "Karma" feature on Hub Pages makes it much easier to connect to your other HUb Pages and other pages relevant to your subject.

I am currently working a small experiment linking my Hubs to my Squidoos. Getting decent traffic numbers. The other aspect about Hub Pages is that you do not have to have the community involvement like you do with Squidoo. However with that said, I have several Squidoo lenses that are ranking on page one versus Hub pages ranking on page three for the same search terms.
