How to catch opt-ins?

Hi

I'm about to start building my very first list.
And i was woundering if i should use a squeezepage or a pop-up kind of opt-in form?
I'm planing on getting traffic through ppc and organic searches.

Test both, no one of us can say what's going to work better right off the bat, without any testing for your particular niche.

I *personally* have had better success with simple squeeze pages. But then again, I've not been into list building too much.

If i go with a squeeze page should i direct the ppc traffic directly to the squeeze page or my home page?

Send all the traffic to your opt in page. Whenever you are paying for traffic you want to send them to the page that only allows them to make the choice that you want them to make.

I'd say squeeze page, but test both. I say squeeze page, because sometimes those pop ups get ignored because they're an interruption. If I'm reading and down comes an opt in, I'm going to exit to continue examining what I'm examining. But everyone is different. As suggested before, just test both :-)

Hi Alexa and thanks for that. i was meaning mainly for PPC. personally, I usually have a ppc landing page for opt ins. however, I usually put an opt in at the end of my articles throughout the site for my seo and social traffic. I agree with giving options for people coming, and I usually have a link that leads to my home page where they can find the articles. however, I find that for PPC, conversions work better for me if I limit the options that they have. I see people with landing pages that have links going all over the place, their articles, adsense opt in, an affiliate offer, all on one page.

Personally, I find it confusing, and I think too many choices will harm you more than help when you are paying cash for the leads. if I am targeting the paid traffic to opt ins, then focus the page on getting the opt in. a squeeze page with to many options loses the effect.
