Best software to send out text messages to mobile phones?

Hi,
what is the best software to install on a (linux based) server
that allows to send out text messages to mobile phones of your customers or prospects?

or what software can you recommend for a server? (looking for a self-hosted solution)

    openvbx.org is a PHP/MySQL opensource application that runs on your server/hosting account and uses the twilio.com api to create voice/sms applications.

    It's very cool for many reasons, but I like that it's pay-as-you-go and is only $0.03 per minute and/or sms message.

    Another difference from other sms applications is that it uses local phone numbers rather than short codes. This means you aren't competing with others for keywords, and you can have a many keywords as you want. Also, the local number can serve as a number for a local business as well as the sms application.

    Do you know of a service that would send you SMS from outside the US?

    Both the services you have mentioned are fantastic but they cannot send/receive SMSs from outside the US or Canada.
