Flippa Hacked - is your password safe?

I recently got wind that someone 'accidently' hacked into Flippa and gained access to their admin panel.

They notified SP, and it seems Flippa originally created a blog post explaining what had happened, but swiftly removed it. The link to the web cache of the missing blog post can be found in the article - Flippa.com Hacked? | Find Websites to Buy with FlipFilter.com

Now the mystery Flippa post claims that admins do not have access to user passwords, which makes sense as almost any app designer will encode their passwords with MD5 or something stronger before storing them in the database.

Since yesterday however, I've spoke to two people who claim they've been locked out of their account. Is this a hoax / coincidence or is any one else experiencing problems too?

Most of the time the passwords are encrpyted - for security resaons. Just about all software does this - whether its wordpress, vbulletin, smf,,,,,,, the password will be encrypted.

2 people locked out of their account??? So what? That is 2 people out of how many members?

2 people being locked out of their account is nothing. But if that number was 20 or 200 then I'd say something suspicious was going on.

But as I havent spoke to 200 people today and asked them if they have access to their Flippa account, then I'm never going to know if it's a wider problem without asking the question.

And that's the logic behind this post

    Hey Warriors,

I don't think it's fair to call Flippa out on this hack, notably most "big" sites have been hacked, so it has to be expected that some day, someone would get into Flippa.

You can do everything possible, but you can still be hacked... It's a fact. I was hacked a few months ago, when someone got into my computer via a virus (crappy anti-virus), and stole my FTP passwords. Unfortunately, they messed up the code, so instead of giving my users viruses, they meerly messed up all my sites.

I don't think passwords were changed. I think that two of your friends didn't put there passwords in right.

    Possible?

I can affirm that my account is still in working order, as well as the name starting with a "b".

Do you know if your friends accounts perhaps started with some type of symbol, like a * or a -?, or an a. That could mean the hacker just messed with the codes, instead of gaining access to the accounts, and those would be what he hit first.
