Lead Generation w/out an Auto Responder

Is it possible (because I just don't have the cash right now) to build a list/list of leads without an auto-responder?

For instance, set it up with an opt-in plugin (if there is such a thing, and I'm sure there is) in wordpress and then manually send the materials to them?

I'm a small one man operation but for just getting started I think this is the most economically feasible way.

Thoughts?

What are you just getting started with? What are you trying to do, build a list? Send people "materials"?

You can build a list anyway you like, an autoresponder doesn't help you build a list, it helps you leverage a list.

There are a ton of reasons to use an autoresponder to build your list with ESPECIALLY when you're new - PLUS you can get them for free or free trials for a month if you do a google search.

    Reason 1:

    1) Double opt-in verification so you can't be accused of spam.
    2) Most autoresponders come with form builders, so you can configure an optin form and add it to your blog.
    3) Ease of use. Most are very easy to use and most services provide videos or guides to help you configure them.

Remember - you can get one for free, for a $1 trial or as low as 5 bucks a month - I'd recommend starting right and getting one.

I think it's really important to "build it right" the first time. As someone who has had to move my list from one place to another... you don't want to lose people because you're changing service providers.

If this is a business for you, then treat it like a business. You can get started with say - MailChimp, which is free for the first 500 people on your list. By then you may be able to generate some income and be able to afford a paying for their (very reasonable) fees to maintain your list.

ymlp.com has a free package. Not just a free trial, its free for up to like 1000 contacts I think. But once you get more contacts than that you should be able to afford a paid service. So start out small and GO FOR IT!

Best thing you can do is start taking action now.
