What button works best??? Order , Compare etc...

For affiliate sites that sell actual products what button has the best success for a click though? You narrow down to product A. On product A's page you have all of the info, a picture, sales copy, features, maybe a rating.

What button seems to encourage people to buy? Order, check price, compare price, add to cart, sell soul?

Test and you will see. Personally, I like 'Download now' but 'Add to Cart' has been found to work very well for many people - it's the text used on the Belcher Button for example.

  • Do you REALLY think that the message or the color on a silly button makes or breaks people from swinging their credit card?

Don't split test such ridiculous details. Instead, spend your traffic split-testing what actually matters: price, video vs text sales page, email autoresponder sequence, etc.

Try 'DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON'

Personally, I'd be tempted to click on "sell soul"... But most people don't have my odd sense of humo(u)r... Or DogScout's 'DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON' - that probably WOULD work.

Add to cart seems a bit odd for affiliate - but people are USED to seeing that as a 'buy it' button. So I can see how that might have good conversions.

I'm interested in the answers to this one too.

P.S. I doubt "Download now" would work too well for a lawn mower, fer instance, Will. The OP did say 'actual products' (which I'm reading as physical products, but I could be wrong).

Completely depends on what you are trying to sell, whether its e-books, mp3's, physical goods, etc.

IMHO for physical goods, if customer has to register before buying, then definitely: add to cart/bag, click to proceed, place order, etc.

For digital products, you could split test: buy now, get it now, download right now, start downloading, etc. I have had good success with get it now and start downloading...

And to the person who said does it matter, IT DOES. Test it, and you will see results... (of course copy/product quality are the most important things, but good buttons and graphics are like icing..)
