If you wanted to make 10 bucks a hour at least online what would you do?

I am curious if someone could help me a bit. I have been trying this whole make money online for a year now with no success. I have learned a lot but I still dont make any money.

One thing I moved away from is clickbank. I am done with digital products. I am now focusing on physical products. The problem is my income is zero and I still have bills. My savings are gone and I have no job.

I know that some of you know ways to make money online doing real work. I used to do article writing but good grief after a couple of hours of writing you just can't even focus anymore. So I am no longer doing that. For the last year that has made me the most money. I did it on and off.

Let me just be frank, I have not made more than 300 in a single month online since I started I don't think. If I did it was only for like one month and then the next month I might have made 120 bucks.

I am a really smart guy, but I just don't know what to do to actually make money. I was wondering what you all would do if you wanted to make even a measly 10 bucks a hour online. I am willing to work, just NOT write articles. I can write at least 1000 words per hour but at 1 cent a word that is just 10 bucks and I just can't do it anymore.

My goal is to make 100 a week starting out. I need it badly people. I am at the end of my rope and I have no-where to go. I was really hoping to get something to work online to at least say I made some money. All my friends are having to work at crappy jobs and getting no hours. Most jobs are a 1 hour drive 1 way from me....2 hours on the road a day....UGH!

I am even willing to work for someone here lol...
Thanks everyone!

Oh here is one of my new amazon sites, I am proud of it. Just to show my skills not to advertise haha.
The Best Wireless Keyboard – Pick out the Best Wireless Keyboard
I picked a template that had the most content up top as possible on a lower resolution screen. I did my homework and I am proud. It just does not make me any money yet.

Writing is something that is always in demand, in some form. From your posts alone you certainly have potential to charge more than $5.00 per article. Honestly, even someone with only typical high school level ability should be able to get $10.00.

You don't necessarily have to do just writing, and in fact, you probably shouldn't. I do make more (a lot more) than $200.00 a week, but even so, I'm branching out into other things that are more passive.

You also need to remember that everything you do that makes money is something you can make additional money from by teaching others to do it.

Let's say your path goes like this:

        1. You write articles for ten bucks a piece, and you make a hundred a week.

        2. While you're doing that, you start creating PLR website, and you get good at it. Let's say you create one a week and sell enough versions to get another hundred. You're at two hundred a week. Gooooaaaaaalllll!!!!!!!!!!!

        3. You've reached a consistent level with your article writing, so you expand that to outsourcing. You pay someone $7.50 and hour to handle the work, and you keep writing yourself. Say you get an extra twenty articles a week (not at all unreasonable at ten a pop, I can tell you) and you've add another fifty to the weekly pot.

        4. You start adding unique sites to your reportoire. Site flipping. Let's say you make and sell one site a week at fifty bucks. You're up to three hundred a week at less than a full time job. It's okay, but you're still working it like a job.

        5. You write an ebook about how to make money writing articles.

        6. You write an ebook on how to make money with PLR websites.

        7. You write an ebook about site flipping.

        8. You write a course about how to combine all these into a business. Let's say you charge 27 each for the first three, and 47 for this one, and sell one apiece of each. That's 128 a week. Over 1800 a month.

        9. Offer inexpensive coaching for these. 27 dollars a month. You get ten people. You're over 2000 a month.

        10. Start outsourcing the first couple of steps entiely. If you've found out how to sell the work, this is a relatively simple.

None of this requires more skills than you say you have. What it does require is patience, work and time.

And that's ignoring the fact that you could be building a list to sell to, getting affliates for your ebooks, charging more for your services, etc.

        Patience, work, time.

How much were you making as an article writer? I can make up to $30 an hour as an article writer, and since the money's what it is, I don't complain. Yes, focus is an issue after a while, but that's why they call it work, unfortunately.

Eventually, you'll get to a point where you have trouble focusing on anything you do if you do it all the time. I break up my days between writing, making how to videos, rewriting PLR, etc. That way I'm not using my creative (or informational) thinking skills nine hours a day.

Were you writing for private clients or public ones (like Associated Content, Bright Hub, Break Studios, etc.)? I work for both, but I've had a lot of success at the more public ones, even though some require a resume, which really isn't that big of a deal. You usually get to pick from writing more "fun" articles than some of the more boring IM-related ones.

          Just sayin'.

I tell you what - I'd trade a few of my brains to figure out how people came up with ideas like I Can Haz Cheezburger - hilarious, complete time-wasting but hugely successful websites. Yep, no brains required. Just a good dose of humor (which I've noticed some IM'ers lack....)

to the OP: What is it you really want to do? Don't think about the money for a second...because you see. most people do this all wrong. They go after the money instead of going after what makes them happy and they live their lives in misery.
Follow your heart. If you love WordPress, like you mentioned (I don't blame you, cause I do too!) then by all means position yourself as a WordPress specialist offering to install WordPress for people and not for $10 either...don't ever sell yourself short! Internet consultants can make anywhere from $25 to $100 per hour. Obviously the competition online is fierce as many outsource to third world countries, that is why with your knowledge you should market to offline clients. Post some free ads on your local Craigslist...don't spam...

I wish you every success...and don't let anyone steal your dreams!

You asked what "I" would do. So here goes.

    1. Sell stuff about online to offline businesses... or ...
    2. Write eBooks and sell them on the WSO forum. You mention 2 different amounts $10 an hour and $100 a week. Both are doable on the WSO forum. You will get a lot more than the penny a word you loathe.

I mention the two above because they are Instant Cash. I think that is what you need/want.

I think you are on the right track with physical products. If you have been trying to do the make money online thing, it is a difficult area to break into with any success. However, you can easily create mini niche sites that offer physical products and use everything that you have learned about online marketing and market to those niches.

In my experience "physical product" niches are much easier to break into simply because they don't know what we know about marketing. I have several lists based on physical products and they honestly believe that I write each of those messages directly to them.

It is much easier to build relationships with them because they aren't jaded like many are in the make money online niche. You can still use things like tell a friend scripts and they will fill them right out if you are building that relationship. Try using a tell a friend script in the make money online niche and they will laugh at you.

Take everything you know and find some good physical product niches and once you have a relationship you will be able to sell them your own products or affiliate products as well.

PM me if you wish, I would be happy to help you in this area.

Great but what is he going to put in the WSO... not to be disrespectful. But he says he is struggling, he applied basic marketing tactics and yet he made some money but not much of it. As everyone on this forum is always looking for the next big thing, making a WSO about basic marketing tactics would be worthless. I entertained this idea myself. But no one here is waiting for another basic marketing report.

And how is he ever going to convince offline businesses to get online when he himself is not convinced yet?

It's just that people make it sound so easy, but in reality it's not. It's hard. I wish life was that easy. Maybe he will get a few sales from a WSO, but to really sell here you need a reputation even on this forum or some amazing tactic no one ever heard of before. Oh yeah and proof and big numbers.

First of all the question was and still is as he didn't change it. "If you wanted to make 10 bucks a hour at least online what would you do?"

I thought that he was looking for some ideas of what others would do, so I answered his question. "What would you (Me, I, yours truly, myself,) do."

Secondly I make it sound easy because it is easy to do what he asked.

It's just plain easy for me to make what he asked for, I.E. $100 a week, or $10 an hour, without looking at the OP I think that's the amount he ask what I would do to make that.

Now, if he said consistently make $1,000 an hour or $10,000 a week I would not have answered his post.

Now, about the selling offline. You asked "And how is he ever going to convince offline businesses to get online when he himself is not convinced yet?"

I didn't say he should convince offline businesses to get online. I said "Sell stuff about online to offline businesses."

First of all addressing that, if you make the effort to walk down any business street in your town or city you will find a large number of businesses are already online and a large number of those who are not online want to be, so there is no need to convince anyone to get online.

There is a lot of "stuff" you can sell to these people. (note to self write a WSO on "stuff" to sell to offliners.) Stuff you can hand them, they hand you $10 and you walk away and never see them again. One sale an hour would be impossible NOT to make if you talked to one person every 10 minutes.

Imagine you don't just walk away and never see them again. What if you give them your phone number and tell them to call you when they need more stuff? In other words you are their go to guy/gal when they need internet stuff.

Here is just one example that happened to me. I got a call from a customer, he asked me to find him information on how to evict a bad tennant from his building. I googled Los Angeles evictions and and made a report on the subject. I loaded it on a CD and took it to him. I made $50 for an hours work, plus he bought my lunch. This is not earth shaking info here.

Now as to the WSO forum. I respect that place so much I would never encourage anyone to sell junk there, to the best of my ability and judging from my happy vs sad buyers, I don't sell too much junk.

He asked "What would YOU, (Me Myself and I) do. I would sell eBooks. Could he? Yes he could. Should he sell garbage? No.

So what could he sell to make $100 in one week. My goodness, that's only $15 a day. But, I don't know what he knows about.

If he knows about the things below he could...

He could sell a secret report on an advertising method that could be the next BIG thing. (I thought of this and believe me if I thought of it anyone could, it's right before every-one's eyes just waiting for some bold fearless marketer to "discover."

He Could Sell an eBook about his favorite hobby and offer MRR and PLR, sell it for as little as $7, rinse and repeat.

He could compile a list of 100 things people want to know and offer MRR to it. Just one example, a Warrior made a list of drop shippers, he wasn't charging much for it but after a few nice testimonials he popped in and offered PLR and Resell rights to it for $100. I know he made at least $100 off of the Resell rights.

Anyway enough trying to convince here, If you think you can or if you think you can't you are right.

So I took Georges advice and you know what within a day or two I had a grand doing exactly what he encouraged.

Looks like you have a good command of writing in English, why don't you sell your services as an article writer? Hit up for the Warriors For Hire section here, I've sold package at DP before, and sign up at Fiverr.com. If you go with Fiverr make sure you do the max amount of gigs (10).

Write 20 articles a week at $5 and you'll have your $100 pretty quickly. Not sure why you don't like it.

I had worked on some academic writing projects earlier and I was earning around USD50-100 per day working for around 5 hours a day. (works out to USD10 an hour)

I quit later, because it was too strenuous on my eyes to keep writing for 5 hours every day.

If you are able to load up Wordpress sites (given all the content, theme, etc), you could make yourself available to be an outsourcer for people like me who do niche sites. You could really get on a roll with this and pump out about 4 per hour (I know folk on a private forum who do these even quicker.) At $5 per site, it is just 'mechanical' work, not as braindraining as having to compose articles, and you could realistically get $20 per hour.

    What are your skills?

The reason I dont like it is simple, I could never scale it up to make me any real money. 100 a week is a hard goal to reach when you are writing for 1 cent a word. That is 10,000 words a week which all in all is not that bad but it takes so much time and effort. 100 a week is what I want to start at, I need 200+ a week to be satisfied for now. That is what a min wage job makes weekly just about.

Look for a job that you can work from home. The jobs can be a challenge to find, but they do exist. There are legitimate companies that hire people to work from home. Perhaps you could look for companies within an industry that you are experienced in that might have telecommuting jobs. Alot of the jobs do not pay by the hour, but by the project, etc.

I got my job based on my previous experience and by networking. A company that I used to work for began outsourcing the job I used to do. I found out who they outsourced to and applied for a position with them. Talk to family and relatives to see if their company has outsourced any work you might be able to do.

I am an independent contractor working within a specialized sector within the insurance industry. I simply analyze and process reports and am paid per report. My pay comes from a corporation but I do not have the ties to corporate life. I work when and where I want. The downside is if I do not work, I do not get paid. Additionally, if I do not work consistently, I get a little less work.

Anyways, this might be something to consider while you build an internet business.

      cowsgonemadd3,

I would recommend a mindset adjustment. How about something like

      Article 5-pack - $40.00
Five articles of at least 400 words using your keywords.
      blahblah...

Even if it took you 2 hours, that's 20 bucks per hour!
(If you can do them in 90 minutes, that's $26.67 per hour.)

2 gigs per day is $80.00.
Times 5 or 6 days per week is $200 to $280 per week.

      AND!!!

At the same time you could have other gigs like what activetrader has to offer.

Let us know what you decide.

It sounds like a lot of people keep telling you to write articles. He doesn't want to write articles people! So what are you going to do? It sounds like you might also need to get some money quickly. Maybe if you had some extra cash, you could put some money into making more money. One best ways to make money online quickly is on Ebay. Sure, some people will say Ebay's not good anymore, but really, there are still hundreds of thousands of people going there every day. Do you have anything in your house you can post for sale? Do you have any of those keyboards you can sell? It doesn't have to be something you do for the rest of your life, but it could get you some extra cash soon.

Just another thought ... It is not per hour. Do not overlook craigslist either. You might be able to list it on craigslist and sell it locally for more profit or with less hassle. You could list it concurrently and cancel the auction if it sells locally first.

Anyways, you could use some of that capital to find other things locally to sell. Go to garage sales, auctions, etc. Sell the items through ebay and craigslist.

You are not guaranteed to make money. You might not make $10 per hour, but then you might come out further ahead with a couple of good sales.

Just a thought.. I recently caught in someone elses response to a post that they are finding things cheap or on the free section of craigslist and reselling them for decent money.. Perhaps this could help you sustain for a period of time?

I went to your website on keyboards to take a look. Some of the things that you want to take note of is

    1) is there many searches searching for the keyword keyboard? What are you planning to rank in?

    2) Is there going to be alot of buyers buying keyboard online?

    Let's do a simple math...

How many keyboards do you need to sell before you make $1,000 per month?

If you do it the amazon way, it'll take you around 1000 sales? And if the keywords convert at 1%, you would need at least 100,000 traffic.

Question is - is it possible with your site?

If you think about this model, the way you are doing it is sorta correct, but you would need to search for the right products that either have huge traffic volume, or products that have high commissions.

Maybe you want to replicate the entire system on a clickbank product.

What can you do? Sounds like article writing burned you out.
You wrote nothing about your skills or what you enjoy doing so noone can really give you much advice there.
Can you do data entry? Can yuou do secretarial stuff like setting up appointments? Assuming you are in the USA or at least not in a 3rd world country, you can go on elance and look for virtual assistant sort of jobs. Some people are sick of VA sharks in India and they strictly demand American/Canadian etc VA's and pay fairly decent.

    Also, craigslist is another option.

Here is a useful web page which utilizes a script to pull work from home/telecommute jobs from craigslist

Telecommute Job List | Free list of telecommute jobs

Scripts are not perfect, so sometimes it pulls the jobs that say 'No telecommuting' since it's looking for the 'telecommuting' and 'remote work' sort of keywords.

Try out that site, it's the only decent free telecommute job search site I have ever found.

Yes writing slap wore me out. I have done it on and off for over a year and now I just cant even take it.
Like I can write for my websites but not for people. If I had 5 cents a word and only had to write 1000 words a day I could handle it.

I am from the United States, and I am 21 years old.

I can make websites, set up wordpress and just a whole lot of stuff.

I dont MAKE websites per se, I can set one up with a free template.
Well I just want 200 a week but 100 a week at the moment would be nice. I don't have anything to sell. I am looking to get my feet in the door of something new besides writing.

I have tried to sell ebooks and honestly nobody wants SIMPLE stuff like I know. PLR article packs sound nice but they are hard to sell I bet. I still dont want to write.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but, I couldn't resist replying to your rather "dumb" comment.

People live in different situations with different circumstances. Just because someone works in a gas situation doesn't mean he or she is dumb. Specially these days with the econmy being the way it is. Many educated and "smart' people lost their jobs and have to work at a "lower class" jobs to pay their bills and feed their family.

Take immigrant for example. They come here (usa) for verity of reasons. I myself am a political refuge. Some come to have easier lives, some to access better and higher education, some...

They come here. Don't know the language. Don't know the culture, the economy and everything that goes with this new country. You can't just sit on your behind and wait until you learn the language and the ups and downs of this economy and the culture, then decide to go to work. You have to feed yourself and your family. So, you have to do what you have to do, even if it means working at a gas station, cleaning, dish washing at a restaurant(which is what I did for the first 7 months) or anything else. That doesn't make you dumb, if anything that shows how smart you are, for recognizing your situation and how to better it.

I worked as an elevator technician back home, but when I came here, I had to wash dishes for the first 7 months, until I learned the language and how everything works here, and could get a better job.

All that said, I don't think just because you make more money and have a "better" job, you are smart or smarter than those who make less money and have "lower class" jobs. Just my personal opinion!

I hope I don't sound too harsh, but I know what you said, can hurt a lot of decent and honest people who do what they have to do to survive. So, I just wanted you (and others who might think gas station worker= dumb) to see it how they see it.

I LOVE wordpress. I do NOT make HTML sites at all.

I had a job at 1.5 cents a word. But it was just as all the other writing is boring as all get out...I had to write about peoples lives. Coming up with 500 words was sometimes hard. I made good money per hour but after writing a couple of the articles I could not do anymore.

I have yet to get paid for what I did write for the guy. I wrote like 6 500 word articles and have asked for payment but I have got nothing back yet. I guess I need to ask for upfront payment.

If I could get 2 cents a word I could possibly get myself to write 1 or 2 500 word articles a day. I just don't want to write. I would rather be clicking and setting up stuff than trying to come up with words and such for several hours a day.

I do not know what strong skills of you, but I think you had ideas make money online is easy. Many people fail and give up before get $100 a week or a month. Some people said that I make $1000 a day, it may correct but it may a lie and may be short term. You say you are smart, why you do not pick a method you like, research it, learn more about it, make a simple guide for you, try to test it, after get few $, you know how to work, you can invest to outsourcing and get more income.
You know Edison had test 1000 test to invent a new things. And if someone know how to do that they will sell with high price; with low price they will hide some secret and you need to know what is secret of this. You need to test and test to discover your road.

Perhaps bear the burden of something you know how to do, yet hate, for a little while longer until you have a small bankroll you can invest. Build a plan while you work your brain to a frazzle. I just know nothing material wise comes freely and without sacrifice.

No other goals other than making xx per week?

Perhaps gather/borrow a bit of money together and have your own product developed for you. Then affiliate it out to a bunch of people or WSO or both.
Of course a little research is needed first.

Your point is fine and all but you see I have been writing for over a year and I made NOTHING. How would you like to work hard and type your fingers off to only make 200 a month writing? I can't even pay my bills with 200 a month. I don't even make 100 a month now online.

I have TRIED writing, and it failed. Nobody wants to pay ANYTHING for writing. I have worked so HARD to get a measly 1 cent a word. If I was going to write again it would be for no less than 2 cents a word. Think about it....

A 500 word article at 2 cents a word is 10 bucks and it may take almost a hour to do according to the subject. So getting to a MEASLY 20 bucks a day would mean 2 hours of writing. 2 hours of writing can be tough, do it for a few weeks straight and you will get that is is hard to focus.

I don't mind writing, just I can't JUST write because it CAN'T be scaled up at just 2 cents a word to be any descent income.

At 5-9 cents a word you could do okay writing and you could make some okay money. In even a hard job you are not thinking constantly like you do when you are writing. I have worked some TOUGH jobs and like them better than I do writing. The pay was good but the work was harder physically than the writing.

I am not a lazy person, my family owns this dairy farm so I know what doing work is.

I am tired, and I mean TIRED of not earning anything each month. I have made less than 400 a month since I started working 3 years ago. I had a crappy part time job then and when I got layed off(I was glad I did) I tried online. A year later I have NOTHING hardly to show for it but a empty bank account and NO income coming in to pay my car payment, insurance and other bills.

When I say I am struggling I am NOT even kidding. I am trapped in this house and can't even afford to get out with friends nor drive my CAR. My car sits in the driveway because I can't even afford to put insurance on it.

I charge less than 2 cents a word and make a hell of a lot more than $10 an hour. Some people can write articles quickly, others can't. If it takes you over an hour to write one 500 word article then you know you're in the wrong business.

Fact is, article writing is the easiest way to make $10 an hour. If you don't want to do that, I think you'll have a hard time with your goals. Why not buy a WP theme like many of the duplicate ones sold in the websites for sale sub-forum, edit them, include some content, and sell them for $29 like everyone else does?

I'm going to reiterate that there's a lot of good stuff here.

I want to point out one thing that was mentioned, but which hasn't got a lot of attention and that might work well for you.

      The short version

Create a team and outsource everything. You're the point person and you make a percentage profit on what each team member does.

      The long version

Create a team - in other words, find writers who will write the articles for you. Find a graphics person. Find a backlinks person.

      1. You can create websites for local businesses.

You do the selling and you coordinate all the work of putting everything together. Your team members do the actual work. You price this at whatever the team members will cost plus an amount for you as the project manager.

      2. You create sites for flipping.

Same as above. Once the site is up, getting traffic, and making money, put it on Flippa. List it for what you'd like to get - making sure that the price also covers the cost of the writers, graphics person, etc. One way to get these sites to make decent money is by putting some of those articles on eZineArticles.com and the other article directories. And if one of your team members is a backlinks person, that would also be part of the deal.

In both of these instances, you are the project manager, developer and coordinator. You have people who do the actual work that you don't want to do.

I considered going this route a few years ago and it got sidetracked due to a bad car accident. The funny thing is, as I write this, I'm realizing what a gold mine this is and I think it's time I implemented it myself!

I'm a writer, but I charge a heck of a lot more than $25 per article, so most of my work goes into my own sites. And it does get old after awhile. So I've started farming out the initial version of the article because it's a piece of cake to revise it once I have something. It's the initial draft that drives me crazy.

<b>Getting articles when you have zero funds</b>

You can also get articles from article directories and from free article submission services (check out Yahoo Groups for the article groups). If you take those articles, you have two choices.

You can either use them as is on a niche WP site (with the resource box, etc.) OR

As most of them are usually dreck, use the information as a starting point and revise them so they're actually good and original, and use them to create a niche WP site.

Put the good articles on the article directories for traffic purposes, do some serious backlinking and then sell on Flippa.

Use the proceeds from the sale of that to get a team. Find someone right here on the Warrior Forum who will do the writing/graphics/backlinks, etc. for you and then do another one.

You want to create a team because then you can use them again and again. As you make more money, pay your team more because they are crucial to your success and you don't want them jumping ship. Nothing worse than training in a new person when you don't have the time.

If the sites start doing really well, you could keep them for yourself or you could sell them as PLR sites, as well as the Flippa thing.

This will cost you the domain name and hosting. If you use Namecheap (recommended) and Hostgator (reseller's account), the cost will be about $35. If you work hard, you could be making a heck of a lot more than $100 per week in just a few weeks.

Now I just need to hie myself over to the section where Warriors are doing all of these things and find myself my own darn team!

    What would "I" do?

I would write for people, but that is because I know how to write very well. I can create great and premium content, and for that I charge a near premium price. I don't see why you're selling yourself short. Are you such a bad writer that you cannot charge more than .01 cents a word? If you are then you really aren't cut out for writing.

It'll take time but one of the simplest models that is easily scalable is website flipping or adsense. I would look into those if I were YOU.

You are going to have to consider choices. There's been some really good advice given in this thread. In fact, there's loads of information throughout this whole site that will benefit you if you take the time to read the threads.

One thing I didn't see mentioned - do you have any relatives or close friends out of your area where you could stay for awhile to just get a job, even temporarily, while you built your own biz online?

We all face big hurdles in life, and sometimes it just takes one determined step after another to get past them. The whole key is taking the first step and then to keep on going after that.

    cowsgonemad,

I think you need to earn money right now, not be an entrepreneur. Or at least spend 90% of your time earning money and 10% on 'business'.

The distinction is earning money is charging for your time. You could write articles for people (your writing is good), do programming if you able, graphic design, set up websites, SEO or whatever and try to get regular gigs. For example, a lot of people are trying the Google News WSO at the moment and you could sell them the service of writing news articles, and there is even big demand for creating the entire news site with those services selling for $500 a site. So it gives you some idea. Your earnings are limited to your time available, but on the upside you can start earning straight away and have some cash in your paypal account before the week is out.

The entrepreneur side is trying to set up revenue streams that are not dependent on your time. The amazon site you have created is an example of that. These don't provide you with guaranteed money, and you could spend a lot of hours for nothing. However eventually with a lot of learning and hard trial and error you will find a winning formula and make good money with less effort. But you wont make fast or easy money this way. For fast money you need to sell your time.

The other option is to get a job. There is a lot to be said for having a job when you have bills to pay and you are under financial pressure.

    Good luck!

IMO, you're having a very different sort of mindset.

You're thinking of trading your time for money.

You need to somehow think of how to make your money work for you. You need to think of creating a business, rather than working for someone..or even yourself.

I love this thread. I will be happy to install wordpress, themes, plugins and create categories and pages at $10 per project. I tried sending pms to some posters but my post count is low. I think the thread starter can go this route too. I have been online for some time now and I have been fanscinated with wordpress.

You can start a forum posting service. Just simple ask people if they want posts or threads to their newly created forum and you can earn 15 cents per post, if you do 100 posts in a day that means 700 posts in 7 days and 105$ per week, isn't that good idea?

I'd like to earn money online as well. I have been reading Warrior Forum almost regularly now because it is my annual leave this week and the following week. Mid October I will be starting to take my maternity leave, therefore, I would like to know the ins & outs of internet marketing ie making money online as I would like to spend more time with my family.

I am very keen to know the skills re Clickbank promotion and article submission to Ezine but do not know how to start to be honest.

I charge less than 2 cents a word and make a hell of a lot more than $10 an hour. Some people can write articles quickly, others can't. If it takes you over an hour to write one 500 word article then you know you're in the wrong business.
No I can write a pretty steady 1000-1200 words per hour. It varies per topic. Some topics I have taken 35-42 minutes to write a 500 word article on because of the lack of information on the topic. Another reason I hate writing for people. They say go write on this and I do a google search and get like NOTHING so I have to spend 20 minutes just on research for one article. It is enough to give you a headache.

Are you talking about automated way of earning money or do you want to work and earn?
I am willing to work for money, I just don't want to write full time.

I live with my parents still as I am only 21 and certainly not ready to be out on my own in this economy.

I did the math on what I made writing and I made like 12-20+ bucks per hour writing but I COULD NOT KEEP IT UP. I could not scale it up. A min wage job would net me 50 bucks a day give or take after taxes and gas but trying to make that much money PER DAY writing at 1 cent a word would be killer.

Are you such a bad writer that you cannot charge more than .01 cents a word?
Oh no, I am I am pretty sure at least, a good writer. I just can't find anyone willing to hardly pay 1 cent a word let alone 2-3 cents. I can show you some of my recent writing if you would like.

Well, that might be true, but only for you. You can scale writing up. It's possible to get jobs and outsource them (I don't, plenty do), or to simply charge more.

Honestly, your problem is that you apparently don't know how to market. That's not a knock on you, just an assessment of your situation. I can tell from the posts that you're smart, and you're clearly a competent enough writer that you shouldn't have any trouble making ten or twelve bucks an article and filling your time.

The fact that you can't means that either you haven't tried very hard, or that you don't know how to market yourself in places where the work will come, or both. Assuming it's the latter, that's going to be a problem no matter what you try to do online. Unless you have some super in demand skill, you're going to have to compete and market yourself.

This is especially true with anything that can be done online. Setting up a word press site, for instance, is something that can easily be outsourced to foreign workers who don't even really have a grasp of English. You can't compete with them on price.

You're going to have to learn how to sell yourself, regardless.

Secondly, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you need to man up.

If your situation is that dire, you don't get to be picky. Do I enjoy writing all the stuff I do? No, not all of it. On the other hand, I get a paid a decent chunk to do something I can do sitting in a comfy chair in air conditioned office. I used to saw logs for six bucks an hour. Writing is better. If you need money and you have a skill that can make you money, then you don't get to be choosy.

You also remember that it doesn't have to be forever. When I was younger, the only thing that made some of the crappy jobs I worked bearable was that they were ultimately temporary.

No it is not a good idea. 100 posts a day times uh 50 words is: 5000 words a day or if I was writing for 1 cent a word 50 bucks a day.

It will vary but a good post is 30-50 words. 5000 words a day would be a lot of typing. When it comes to posts on sites it would not be too hard but most forums have at least a 30 second limit between posts. 2 posts per minute is 30 cents per minute. .30 times 60 minutes(if you could steadily do it for 60 minutes which I doubt you could for many reasons) is 18 bucks per hour. It does not seem bad but let me list a couple of the reasons why you can't get to 18 bucks per hour with it.

I have did this before in the past and most forum posting jobs have a daily limit of like 20 posts sometimes per forum. They can't all be in the easy forums meaning some posts may be 100+ words and take TIME to come up with a QUALITY post like they like. So you will then run the 20 posts out on 1 forum and have to move on to another forum which might have a different topic. So you have to start thinking on a new subject.

Oh and to the poster above, Ezine is a dead end road if you don't have a good converting product. It is no longer just a matter of put up a few articles on ezine and make money. From my tests and I worked with ezine for a year too, you would make more writing for 1 cent a word than you would make with ezine articles alone. Now it involves writing for ezine, spinning the articles, posting them on tons of other article sites, trying to rank the articles and then you hope your traffic that comes to your articles does not click on Ezines MANY google ads on each article.

I need money too. That is why I have a day job. On the side I am slowly building a business. I am in this for the long term. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Trust me, I am job hunting but the problem is they are all SOOOOO far away from my house. I am like a 1 hour drive 1 way to most of the jobs. 200 a week online would be so awesome like you have no idea.

I am jobless so time is NOT a problem if I can see MONEY. As in at the end of the week I could see even 40 bucks I mean and then the next week start making 100 and so on....I just need to see money coming from a method.

I did some thinking in this post. Maybe it shows I do have some skills. I am good at a lot of things.

People live in different situations with different circumstances. Just because someone works in a gas situation doesn't mean he or she is dumb. Specially these days with the econmy being the way it is. Many educated and "smart' people lost their jobs and have to work at a "lower class" jobs to pay their bills and feed their family.
No you do not understand fully. I am not saying working in a gas station makes you dumb or that all people who work in a gas station are dumb. I am sorry if that is how it sounded.

See I live in a small town and the people who do work at this one local gas station are just that dumb. My aunt worked with them at the gas station for like a year as a manager and she told us stories and came back crying, it was bad. Now you know the story. haha

You can write you own e-books and sell them in WSO forums. You can also ask people to hire you as an article writer. And you may get more than a cent per word in some places.

$10 online? Spend a week learning basic PHP, Wordpress, LINUX, HTML, CSS, etc... if you're a smart guy (like you said), and have a half-technical mind, all that stuff is actually quite easy.

From there, shouldn't have any problem picking up gigs for a simple $10/hour. From there, just treat your clients good, always stay in contact, provide good service, take pride in your work, and before you know it, you'll be charging $50/hour.

I have had to like fight for customers. They come once and may buy a few more times then I can't handle the work load and can't get the articles to them in time and so on...

That was a bad run on sentence ^^^

What I am trying to say is sometimes I have NO customers and I can't seem to get some and other times I get so much I can't even handle it.

Like how can I get the chance to outsource article writing, which I could do if I offer American written article writing services if I can only get 1 cent a word? I mean that means I have to find a American writer for less than 1 cent a word. To make a descent profit I would need to be able to get 2 cents a word for my work and outsource to other Americans for 1 cent a word.

So you spoke of a problem I know all too well. People in other countries where 3 bucks a week even is awesome money.

How can I get 2 cents a word? If I could get 2 cents a word I could bear writing for longer until I get something better. I have been at this a year, it has not made me enough to sustain myself. I know writing can, I just know I could not at 1 cent a word sustain myself on writing alone. It would be too much work.

How do I market myself in such a way that I could possibly get steady 2-3 cents a word for my articles which a lot would not even be written by me?
Do I need to stay away from digital point? haha Where do the people who spend the real bucks for writing hang out?
    Thanks

    Hey CowsGoneMad,

I want be like everyone else and tell you to Write Articles.

How about offering what people WANT... like VACATIONS.

Why work for $10 a hour when you could earn $100 or even $1,000's.

Check out some of the Vacation Clubs on-line and see what I mean.

One company sells lifetime memberships for $3,995. One company sells Lifetime Memberships for $2,997 and has been doing so for almost 3 years. One company sells Lifetime Memberships for $1,997.

Think small earn small. Think BIG earn BIG.

I have a favorite saying... it's just as easy to sell a $3,000 product online as it is to sell a $50 product on-line.

    Good Luck

Hey in ref to your question do you make a lot of $3,000 sales online then?

In order to make $10 per hour which is your original questions you only need to make one every 300 hours worth of work or one every 7.5 WEEKS.

Thats basically ONE sale every TWO months working a 40 hour week.

With 100 clients a week we average 1 out of 5 prospects become a customer. Same numbers that almost every Timeshare company has.

It allows us to travel all over the world and live ANYWHERE we want when ever we want... I'm sitting here in my Vacation Home in Thailand at this very moment, getting ready to head to Vietnam, Cambodia, Loas and Burma in the next few weeks... ALL becasue of selling Vacations.

    Cowsgonemad,

"Kudo's" to you for thinking beyond today. Don't take this wrong, but at at age 21 you are likely years away from completely understanding some of these ideas as anything other than old dude goes blah, blah, blah ... but, they will click at your own pace in your own time.

It sounds like you are painting yourself into a pity corner. There are a lot of good ideas here and you seem to respond only with what you cannot or do not wish to.

If you are happy with a subsistence living then continue what you are doing, but if you are truly ready to take charge of your life... I suggest you get up earlier than the rest of the world "Everyday" put your big boy pants (that's hard for all of us sometimes) and move forward with positive thinking, forgetting about what cannot be done, (don't even allow those thoughts in your head) focusing on what can be done... and if need be working harder than the rest of the world and going to bed after everyone else has finished. .... I know work smarter not harder, lmao... but trust me in order to work smart, you generally need to know what it is to have worked hard (very hard, for weeks and months a time).

If you are not making money, how do you survive? Are you allowing yourself to survive this way? Quit depending on whoever or whatever is caring for you and begin playing this game...

    The Game:
    "If I don't produce I don't eat"... "If I don't work I don't eat"... "If I don't take a job I don't like, I don't eat"... "How will I eat today" ....

So many fall into the trap of ... If I do "X" I won't be available to do "Y" , then "Y" never becomes an option "X" was never attempted and at the end of the day you have nothing in one hand and Caca in the other...

CHOOSE TO DO SOMETHING OR YOU WILL HAVE NOTHING"

I don't want to be too preachy and I worry you will take my comments as a slam against you (please don't) I am truly trying to share a little old dude wisdom.

In the final analysis you may need to first choose differently in how you do things before you worry too much about the what you do.

      Well said.

I see this a lot IRL. People ask for advice, then spend all their energy explaining why the advice doesn't apply to them!

Try spending your time figuring out how to make these solutions work for you, instead of justifying the fact that you aren't making any money.

Do some research about virtual assistants. I know people - in this country, though not on this forum - who make $30 or $40 per hour setting up and maintaining websites, doing transcription work, maintaining shopping cart systems and email marketing systems, all without writing a single word.

The work is out there, but you need to change your attitude first.

Your keyboard site is nice looking, but it's not making any money because you arn't ranking, and you arn't ranking because you've only got three external backlinks, according to Site explorer, and they are from forums.

If you are going to break away from earning per word, and make money selling things, you need to learn how to rank stuff.

There's plenty of good blogs out there that will teach you how - but to start with read the following starting from the first post in the archives and then going on from there. (one of these blogs belongs to a warriror)

Both will show you how to get going, and if you put in the work you should see results pretty fast:

Writing CAN be scaled up. Stop looking at yourself as a 1 cent a word writer and STOP marketing yourself as one.

    I mean when I started, I started at 4 cents a word.

What made me different than other English native writers that were writing at 1 cent a word, probably not a whole lot EXCEPT I valued my own time at more than that. So I started at 4 cents a word, opened a WSO and went with it. I got a couple clients in that first month that kept me going steady for months.

I then realized hey, I can make the same amount of money or MORE writing for more people. But I realized to scale up, more people needed to be getting work for the same effort, so I started up a PLR site. I did it as a monthly subscription, I believe for $9.99 or something to that effect and only allowed 30 per topic and I wrote and emailed them a new article a day. I was making $10 or so an article, EVERY DAY.

To scale from there, I did a survey on my list. I found out what other niches they were interested in. And what I did with that was opened a new WSO for the new niche, till I was writing 5 articles a day and averaging $1500 a month give or take just from the PLR articles.

But I didn't stop there. See the missing part of the puzzle, is for each niche I was writing for, I kept a single license for myself. And I made sure and set up a website for each niche and promoted Clickbank products and Adsense. This added to my income substantially, all from the same work, being scaled up.

In the end, I was bringing in around $3k a month. I did that for about 3-4 months till I moved onto larger money makers.

And now when I write for others, I charge 16 cents a word. Yep, 16 cents a word, because that is what my time is worth and what clients have HAPPILY paid for. And come back, even months later to purchase more articles again.

So there you have a scalable blueprint on how to use article writing to create a FULL TIME income online. (And given I only take about 10-15 minutes per article, it made it so I was making that income in give or take 30-35 hours a MONTH)

    Best wishes and good luck,
    Sylvia

Well it sounds like you just need to focus on what works for now, but this also depends upon how badly you need the money. You can write well... If you have to write to earn a living right now then do it. Then try and ease your way into a different expertise. Maybe SEO? Linkbuilding? Maybe you could hire "Teams" of outsourced article writers and build up your article writing business?

Just food for thought, and I know whats it like to struggle.. Dont give up eventually it does get better. Your eally do have to have a job your passionate about though!

When I search it up I usually find threads on how to make money from PLR articles and not so much how to make money from MAKING PLRs.

      THANKS!

And for OP, instead of waiting for people to ask for articles maybe write them in bulk on hot topics and sell them?

A lot of time is wasted communicating with clients, waiting, etc.

You seem like you been writing for quite a while so you should already have quite a bit of info in your head about specific niches, pick one, stylize it, spin it, make it specific, and create a blog out of it. Then promote/promote/promote it...

Wish you the best of luck.

Alright, with PLR you give people various rights on how they can and cannot use the articles. I pretty much allow them to do anything EXCEPT resell as is, or post to article directories as is. (I have a template somewhere on this hard drive for rights, but if you search for PLR rights on the forum you should come up with something.)

In regards to how many you sell, it is entirely up to you. Usually the lower the amount of licenses, the more you can charge. You will find writers like Tiffany Dow and Bev Clement who don't tend to limit how many licenses, and can still demand premium prices, but I think that is more something you get to over time.

Gimme a little bit and I will put something together about how to make money selling PLR articles, as opposed to how to make money with PLR articles.

        Best wishes,
        Sylvia

I hear you and I have to agree with what some have said. At your age you're just starting out and have to pay some dues. I think many of us have worked for somebody else before working for ourselves. It gives you experiences that you really must have to be in business for yourself. Get a job, any job and build your business on the side. It will grow but it will take time and you have to eat. Working as a server at a restaurant, for example, isn't a failure, it's an experience. I know of very few people who BEGAN their career living their dream.

    My best to you

    Sylvia,

I would buy a WSO from you about how to make money selling PLR articles.

I KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO- THIS:

Write an Ebook about how you were struggling...then you started to read on the Warrior Forum... and you figured out how to do X. And now you are selling your first WSO about how you went from rags to riches because you figured out a secret way to do X.

X can be article marketing, website building, backlinking, etc.

First of. How much time do you want to spend on it. You say that 10 000 words per week is to much to handle. 10 000 words are no more than mybe 10 hours of work which make it sounds like you don´t really want to but that much effort into things. I can be wrong but that is just the way it come of to me.

Your keyboard site give me the same feeling. It doesnt seem like you but much effort into or into ranking it. Yahoo (although not accurate) only shows 3 links, all from your adds about doing niche sites. If you want to earn money from it you need to put a lot more effort into it and into making it rank. I would also strongly recommend that you make your sample work a little more visually attractive and less basic before you put your ads up.

Sorry if I am being hard, and I might be wrong, but it is just the feeling I get.

If you are serious you will have no trouble earning 100 usd on sites likes oDesk and eLance. You should be able to start earning 100-200 usd week within 2 weeks

When it comes to writing I can be lazy. It is not my passion by any means but I do have fun with it at times. To be honest though we all have to do things we don't like so I am just going to have to get used to doing things I don't like because I have to in order to make a living.

Still writing just eats at me at times.

As for my website, it has never even been attempted to rank. When it was made it was on page 1 for a while but now it is on page 2 near the top or in the middle. I am ready to do some link work to it but I just have not done it yet.

I completely re-did the site to make sure it was ready to be promoted. Why get traffic coming to a site that is no good? The template was even picked out so that the most content would be shown without scrolling according to the average monitor resolutions.

    Pretty neat right ^^^^?

Yes, writing is very competitive. I am writing for $5 for an article with 300 to 500 words and I sometimes refuse some clients because of workload issues. That WSO of Sylvia regarding PLR would certainly be worth the wait.

You can contact me through PM if you desire to have articles written.

I am fond of creating micro niche sites and they are quite doing great. Super Solano Hair Dryer and Battery Operated Alarm Clock are just a few of my sites.

    Hey there,

It's great that you're setting yourself a target income per week, but after you've done that, you need to pick an area you think will be good to develop products for or promote products in, and stick to it, religiously.

    1. Pick a niche market
    2. Research the hell out of it.
    3. If it has medium to low competition, then go for it.

Online marketing is no easy game. It's very hard in fact, I know from experience. It gets easier as you learn more and become more established, grow your products, your email lists, develop contacts, etc.

But all of that takes time.

Don't be disheartened. From what you've described, it appears to me that you are simply looking for a direction first. Remember that being all over the place is the first mistake online marketers make. Choose one thing, devise a plan of action, and stick to it.

    All the best.

To be honest I have no idea how to rank a website and I have tried the whole adding links junk before with no sucess. How many links would I need to add to a site to be able to flip it? Do I need to have the site making money and ranking to be able to flip it? See I have tried to rank my own sites for years now and have DONE NOTHING even with links. I send a lot of links and only like 30 show up when I know I have like 3 times that many and the site still does not rank.

I am seriously frustrated right now. I am not trying to make up excuses as to why this method won't work for me or any of the other ones it is just I seem to fail at everything I even try. I am stuck in a rut...can't get nothing to work online and can't find a job offline within driving distance since I am in the country a long ways away from town.

May be I missed some posts but why do you not try something different like advertising CPA offers? I have not seen some of the regular CPA guys suggesting that in this thread.

You will find a lot of information on this forum from members who are having success. Start off conservatively until you hit on a successful campaign and method of advertising and then scale up.

No guarantee of success but with so many being able to make a reasonable income from CPA offers it is worth a try. It is different from article writing. Go for hot products that people are buying and get a little piece of the action. If someone intends to buy or buy on a whim, then why should they not buy from your ad as much as someone else?

Whatever you do, (or I for that) you do not want to trade time for money which article writing can be. That is a job. As the late Jim Rohn said "profits are better than wages" You definitely need to find something that will earn while you sleep every hour of the week. Once you find one thing where you have some success, just scale it up.

    Hi,

Thanks for the thread. I haven't finished reading all the posts, but it really looks like the WF is here to help. I'm a newbie, so I wouldn't dare give you any suggestions, as I haven't made any money yet with IM.

I might pick up some of the suggestions for myself. I want to write, but I don't feel confident yet to do so.

The suggestion of building Worpress sites is very good, IMHO. And that suggestion comes
the beginning of the topic, so I'm looking forward to reading the rest.

I hope you find something in the answers that will really help you.

    Good luck !

If you can write a good article of 400-500 words in 30 minutes, you can earn $10/hour writing articles. Writing well is a skill that pays off by teaching you to organize your ideas and how best to present them to an audience.

Yes but staying mentally focused for so long writing just wears you out. You get burned out fast or at least I do. I can't make ALL my money on writing. Maybe 1 500 word article a day for a few bucks but I need to make the majority where I am NOT writing articles.

I have tried CPA lead but I only made like 13 bucks so far. I am not sure how to get people to fill out the offers. I am registered on linkshare and cj too.

Time is NOT a problem, I am JOBLESS and just want to do work that does not mentally drain me like writing does. I don't seem to be good at ranking my sites even though people have been trying to help me for a while. They say it takes time...yet some of them can rank a site in like a month and I cant do it in a year.

Im sorry to hear about your situation. I know the feeling, when I was in the construction industry and laid off I suffered a similar fate. Any way to cut to the chase, if you are interested in selling physical products, I run an affiliateship thats sells mobile phones. The phones can be for any of the major carriers ie: ATT, Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, etc. It is a very simple system. Folks sign up for a new phone contract or renew their existing one, upgrade their phone and you get $50/per phone sold. No gimmick, not tricks..just a check in your mailbox. The attractive part is that most of the phones that come with the new contracts are Free or discounted deeply to the customer to encourage them to get a new 2 year contrtact. They practically ell themselves. You will even be given your own affiliate web site and can customize it with your own logos to make it look like your own branded business. If you are interested please PM me.

I really hope things look better for you soon, I'll be rooting for you.
And by the way to all you other warriors out there youre really giving him some great ideas!
