How do you price yours ?

Friends - I promote a self written eBook on a technical topic. I have priced this book at USD9.97.

I get around 50-60 targeted visitors per day (mostly US & UK) to this website of mine and out of every 100-150 visitors, i get one sale. (one sale every 3 days)

Now the question is how do you price an ebook ?

I think the quality of the book is such that I can safely charge upto USd 25 for it. After reading the book the buyer will not feel that it did not deserve a USD25 spend. (But this is only after he reads it). my fear is that if I price it higher, people may not buy it.

The book does not have much competition. (only one other book on the same topic sells on Amazon for USD60 - not a great seller though)

Any tips on deciding the pricing ?

    • Maybe it would help if you put a retail price say 17 bucks, and have a slash going through it and reprice it "on sale" for an oddball number. Say like 7.43 or 11.61. Its proven effective in retail stores. It really throws customers off math wise.
  • People will also think it is higher quality information if you charge more.

Alexa is right. You need to split test different prices.

Not knowing anything about the topic, or your book, I would suggest the following prices for testing.

$7 (But ONLY if you have a good back end product, upsell, or other monetizing methods within it)

    $17
    $37
    $50
    $57 (just under the competition)
    $60 (the same)
$65 (just over, but justify the expense in the sales copy)
$75 (buyers may perceive it as a better solution, or more exclusive solution at that price, and if it solves a technical problem, that price may be well worth it)
    $97 (Yes. $97)

However, all of these prices are only my suggestion and assume your solution is a good one and what people need.

    All the best,
    Michael
  • $17 is good if you add some good bonus product than it will make more profit for you...
