What should I put on my opt-in form to get people to sign up?

I've spent past couple of weeks to develop a pretty good course for people recovering from porn addiction, and I believe I did a really good job on it, and it will help a lot of people.

What I struggle with, is actually "selling" this course , meaning getting people to sign up(the course itself is free).

I experimented with a few ways to modify my opt-in page, and I get people to sign up, but I think 95% of my visitors, leave without ever considering this opportunity.

I wonder if you guys can give me any advice on how to improve the conversion rate.

My site is Overcoming Pornography Addiction | Stop Porn

Thank you!

IMO your site is a bit too busy. You want visitors to sign up for your free course right..... so give them a reason to. I'm going to outline some actions you could take (in no particular order) that I think will increase sign ups.

      1. Site header and title- You might not need a header for this subject but if you're going to use it make it something that relates to the topic. I read the "about" page and understand the correlation to the Cherokee story but a visitor seeing your page for the first time won't.

Change the header to a picture of a "distressed" family or a "hurt" wife. Something along those lines and like I said earlier you might not need a header at all which brings me to the title.

Would a visitor have any clue that your site is about overcoming pornography addiction? Be more direct in your title--something like--

Does Pornography Have a Hold on Your Life--Get Relief Now
Our free course can help you overcome your pornography addiction
      Reconnect with your wife
      No more hurt feelings
      etc. etc

That's not the best title but its off the top of my head.

      2. Too Much Info-- That's a lot of text for a squeeze page. I'd suggest listing the features and benefits that the user is expected to experience after completing the course.

      3. Site Redesign-- Get an e-cover for the course and make it the primary focal point for the viewer. Put the opt-in box to the right of it and the features and benefits under. Additionally, you can add a video.

      4. I'm interested in your conversion rates on your affiliate/cpa banners. I'd suggest deep sixing them.

That's all I got. Hopefully some other warriors will chime in.

Thanks a lot for your reply Hubcap. I made a big mistake selecting the name for the site, but it was a long time ago, and I knew nothing about IM. If I were to do it all over, I would do a lot different. I would not use blogger as my host, I would have keywords in my site name etc... But not I am kind of stuck with it. May be I should change it anyway.

Meghan, thanks to you too. I try to stay away from offline promotion since its a very personal subject.

I think you should change the domain, definitely. If you don't want to use blogger you can change that as well.

As for getting them to optin, how about a graphic that says "Begin Your Recovery" 10 tips to get you off on the start- or something like that. "Never Desire Porn Again!" sign up now to get started!

    Just a few thoughts.

Forget about teaching - what you need to be offering anyone who comes to your squeeze page is BENEFITS...what results will they get by downloading your course.

You share the steps with them, so what!

All they care about if they are seeking a solution to their problem is what will happen when i take your course -

How will life be better than it is now

Answer those questions in your sales letter and you will have much better success, assuming your niche actually know they have a problem and are actively searching for a solution.

Think about what you would want if you were recovering and give that to them. Maybe there is recovering forums you can go to and find out what help people are asking for most and match something up to that. You have to be in their mind to really understand. You have to make them curious. Learn what they want and give it to them.

    Thats a squeeze page?

it has way too much info on it, I currently have a squeeze page converting at 44.6%

First you need to make it way shorter, you need to have the opt-in form and the main benefits before the fold, which means no scrolling.

Your headline should state you main benefit of what your giving away. You should have some red arrows. Pointing to your opt in form.

While restating the major benefit they will receive by putting in their name and email.

Yours looks like a blog, from my experience, blog opt in form conversions suck, they do not convert high enough to make it worth it.

Your squeeze page needs to have only one goal, to sell opt in's.

I see banners, adcents links and all kinds of stuff to distract your visitor. You are giving them to many options.

They need only one Opt-in or leave.

Right on. Figure out their biggest, nagging problem (hey! I can't talk to a girl without looking at her chest! This sucks! Girls are starting to think I'm creepy! You get the point) focus on that and tell them how you're going to immediately solve it with your awesome course!

Honestly, if you can speak directly to their most urgent, primal need/problem and show them how you will help them solve it quick - you could put up a simple HTML page and get a better opt-in. Just focus on that one thing - getting their e-mail!

this is not a Squeeze page its a blog

You need a simple Above the fold Optin page with a compelling
          headline and some bullets

Revealed! ... How I Kicked My Porn Addiction and Reconnected With
My Spouse in 7 Days ... And How You Can too!

          and them some Bullets

          - Rekindle Your Relationship
          - Have More Time For the People and Things You Love

          Jack

P.S. if all else fails offer them the latest Jenna Jameson Video

Keep it simple... Give 7 to 12 Bullets of their mosttt pressing thoughts/problems for recovering from this addiction...probalby in Question Form...Dont need to Tell them about everything what's inside in the course...Simply show them how it will solve their most important problem...

Remove Distractions...and make it straightforward...Put your Email Caputring Form right after your Content...

At the end create urgency...i.e. like i am offering Free Ecourse For Limited Time or limited no. of people etc...

  • Getting a huge response might be tough--people are often ashamed of any sexual activity and many are going to fear giving you any contact information.

This is the perfect situation for a quiz opt-in squeeze.

Does Porn Has a Hold on You?
Take this 1 minute quiz to find out

At the end of the quiz you can either offer them a solution via opt-in or offer the results via opt-in.
