Complete Newbie with no tech experience/limited funds..where to start?

Should I buy premade niche autoblogs? review sites? I'm looking at quite a few premade niche sites to buy that only offer a limited amount and are based (some of them) on wordpress. Kind of worried about duplicate content. should I pay for a custom site... can't right now, but I see some people only charge about $150. I was ready to jump in but was told that $30 day income per site would be unrealistic and not easily achievable for a newbie. I've wasted money over they years trying to get involved in affiliate niche sites because the programs always leave something out. it's never a step by step ..this is how you do it, this is where you do it, etc., etc. I'm very non tech, and not alot of funds for outsourcing, etc. just a stay home mom trying to make additional income and would love to do niche sites that sell products or affiliate products. Any advice appreciated.

The first thing you need to do is invest a little money (I know that's all you've got!) to get an education about how to market online. There are many great courses you can find. I personally recommend Niche Profit Classroom and or Auto Content Cash (these aren't affiliate links).

I stumbled around quite a while trying every new technique I could find, it wasn't until I got serious about my education and learned how to put it all together with the resources listed above that I started making money.

I personally wouldn't buy any pre made niche blog at this point because if you don't know what you're looking for you'll probably pay too much.

    Good luck!

      Bull****.

Let me add #3 and #4.

      3. Look up some "money making" ideas that worked a few years ago, re-hash them, add nice graphics and sell in the WSO section. Oh wait, don't do that - only suckers do this, and there are many. Don't be one.

      4. Start an "IM blog". Keep posting every day, add a ton of Twitter followers, comment on every other IM blog out there. You don't really have to provide anything good, just make sure to "review" 1-2 subscription based IM tools/services every week. Tell everyone how much they have helped you to make tons of money online, all that jazz. Don't forget to include 3-5 affiliate links in every article your write.

This approach will take a bit longer, but if you're consistent, you should be making ~$200/$400/month by month four or so.

Both of the above techniques work. Look around you, there are tons of people doing these things. And while they do work, I wouldn't bother.
      --------------------
Offer a service. Be honest, don't take on more work than you can handle, always deliver on time, do good work. You'll be set for a good part time income within a few weeks.

Hello from a fellow nub! Tgro's advice is spot on. Be very careful about who you pay money to also for an education! Research forums (like this one and others) and find reviews of the program from people not promoting anything in their signature that sends you to the course (as these are the most legit, I.E. CMCarlin above)! Honestly, my educational process has taken 6 months (of just reading free resources, I still learn something new everyday) about all the different approaches possible in online marketing. The only person I paid for information ran 50 bucks a month (paid for two months). By the time I had adwords campaigns they walked me through setting up and ready to launch on a few minisites I built promoting affiliate products, I discovered that the path I was told was a "great way to learn" was also a great way to get banned from Google! Luckily, I figured this out in time and did not launch, but wasted 2 weeks researching/compiling a worthless campaign! Here's a great piece of information you always need to be telling yourself at all times:

There is always a "motive" behind what anyone will tell you on the internet!

I am no "baller", nor am I a "pro marketer". But I do generate a couple hundred bucks a month from a few sites I advertise own and have adsense on (pretty passive income, I didn't have a year ago!) Hope that information is of some assistance to you!

Also, you have a $150 budget...be absolutely certain you take the time to boil down all your expenses ON PAPER also so you can say "This will cost me X$ to run this for X amount of time." So you are certain you know when to cut the bleeding and how much bang you will get for your buck!

Please take this advice... Offer a service. Honestly.

    Here area few ideas:

    1. Link building. Look up someone who's really successful selling link building services on one of the IM forums and buy their product. Examine closely what they do, add your own twist to it and start selling.

    2. Write articles. Do not charge a lot (that obviously depends on your writing skills) - $1/100 to start with. Write 2 500 word articles per hour. Work for 3 hours per day, that's 5-6 articles == $25/$30/day.

    Good luck.

I would suggest that you join a very good membership site that trains you how to really make money online and gives you all the resources and help you need.

You need to start building your own list in whatever niche you are interested in. remember "Money is in the list" the importance of this sentence cannot be overemphasised.

What you might do - not to make money but just to get yourself used to the internet - is get a blog at blogspot and start blogging with it. Not a niche blog, just a 'what interests me' blog.

You probably won't get many readers, so don't worry about that. This is more to get you used to writing a bit, dealing with signing up for a blog, getting an account, setting up, etc.

And get yourself a gmail account if you don't have one already. (That automatically gives you a Google account for when you want it.)

Practice. A non-tech total newbie can easily get taken. You need to learn a little bit before you start. Learn what a blog IS - for niche, I'd recommend wordpress - but for some nice free practice, go blogspot. And heck, there's lots of good ways to go back and monetize a SAHM blog later, once you know what you are doing.

I actually advise against auto content cash. In the may/june google update that blog style, that leaves a lot of footprints, got axed. Everyone left in droves.

Brian Johnson, the creator, is fantastic though, so I do recommend his commission ritual course. That will run you about 70 bucks I think.

I definitely advise against buying a pre-made site right now. I don't know what will be profitable yet and you won't know how to correctly market it.

    Focus on learning keyword research.

Build original content and place links to affiliate offers. Learn on-page SEO and off-page SEO.

Learn how to market your website through backlink building.

Keep it basic for now. Learn and experiment.

And of course, if you have any questions, ask. I suggest going to the war room and learning as much as you can. For awhile it will be like information overload and you will be spinning your wheels, but after awhile certain things will sink in, as every course shares the same fundamental principles.

If you're interested in niche sites, then I'd recommend Niche Blogger by Warrior Amy Bass. It covers everything about setting up and running niche blogs, step-by-step. It's not free, but the first month is only a dollar, which gives you a good head start as it covers most of the basics. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-blogging.html

I can only speak from my own experience, but I spent 6 months spending money and trying out all the "Sure Fire" systems from a lot of the big gurus. At the end of that 6 months I had a lot smaller bank account and total earnings of .01 in Adsense.
I happened to stumble across my current coach in one of the membership forums I belonged to and what he said made sense to me. I have now been using his advice for a little over 6 months and I am making money (profit).
I am sure that his methods are not for everyone, but they work for me and a lot of other people. The one thing that really made me respect this guy is that he is teaching methods that he actually uses every day and he does not tolerate the misinformation being proliferated by a lot of the programs out there.
If you ask this guy a question, you always get a quick answer and it is always the truth. It may not be exactly what you want to hear, but it is always the truth.
Anyhow, I highly recommend him and his program.

I couldn't agree more that The Challenge is one of the best ways possible for any newbie to get their feet wet and learn a lot. I take it every year and so do a lot of others because it is that good.

open a phone book start asking people "just wondered if you folks already had a website or had maybe been considering one for your business"... doesnt cost anything to do that...

Then come to the warrior forum once somebody says yes, and hire one of these great designers to build the site.

This is my opinion, which I hope doesn't get too skewed - but...

There are no niches left unless you create a niche. If you want to make good money at home, you're best off in the short run to start using eBay or Etsy and selling products there... For every site claiming to sell "niche" products or programs, there are 1,000's of people buying the product or program, which means it's no longer a niche.

You can also make pretty good money with an AdSense account if you get a HubPages account or start writing a ton of Squidoo lenses.

Until you have saved a few hundred bucks, enough to invest in a decent and unique website with hosting and some products, I would hold off. A good place to look (not sure if they are still good, TBH, since it's been six months since I've visited) is imreportcard.com They have reviews for every top IM program, site, and service out there, submitted by users. It can help you stay clear of scams and worthless products.

      Hope this helped a little.

    Hi! Hope all's well.

    Hmmm...

...after reading the title of your post,

I noticed some people here start off by saying what they don't have...

...rather than what they have and starting there...

...I started generating stable income from my online efforts

    without a website,

without my own business email (I only had Gmail),

without any capital other than my own time, skills, a couple of computers, a place which was also our home and a reliable Internet connection,

without any knowledge in offline and online marketing nor in establishing offline and online businesses,

    without knowing anything about outsourcing

    and

without any practical eyesight (I'm totally blind)...

...though I started out with the mindset of "starting off with what I have"...

...rather than with I don't have or had back then...

...and up until now, this works for me.

With hindsight, I don't think I would have been motivated to do anything if I focused on things which I didn't have back then.

With foresight, it's always good in my honest opinion to start out with

    what you have,

    what you know,

    what you can do,

    what you've experienced,

    what you've learned,

    and

    what you can do,

    what you can learn,

    what you can experience, and

    what you can know

...'cause that's a niche in itself.

Good wishes and best of luck!

Thank you all so much for your advice. I'm being cautious and doing lots of research before taking the leap, but ... I don't want to get overwhelmed with all the choices and do too much research and not get started with something. Thanks again, I hope this thread will help others trying to get started.

Ok the first thing I would advise is not to go out and spend any serious money, not yet anyway. Once you start buying it grabs a hold of you and you will be bust before you have learned anything. There is plenty of free information on the internet you should look at first. One site I would definately look at is Matt Wolfes site at matthewwolfe.com -there is no hidden agenda here and you can easily ramp it up a bit when you have got an understanding of the basics.

thirtydaychallenge is another I would look at which will take you the next step up the ladder. All of the courses mentioned above are pretty decent and the guys have some good tips there but I would say to you BEWARE where and how you spend your hard earned cash.

    Good Luck

    Eban
