Confirm Or Not Confirm Subscription?

Hey guys!

So I'm in a niche where I'm giving people a few PDFs in exchange for their emails (obviously), but I'm not sure how to go about getting it too them.

Before in other niches I just had mini-courses so I just had a thank you page and a confirmation email and the mini-course was under way.

Now I have a download (and a back end affiliate link) follwed by some cool advice and tips for awhile after.

At some point they'll have to confirm, so my question is when?

Should I send them right to the thank you/download page right away or have them confirm prior to getting the downloads?

My fear is also they will not confirm once they have the downloads and I've lost them for any future info or sales for them.

I also fear its too many steps to get what they want, which is my downloads.

Ideas? What do most do?

Thanks!

It would best to confirm, as if your subscribers won't even go the hassle of subscribing then the chance of them buying is even way lower.

In building a list, quality is always better than quantity.

    Hope this helps.

    • Hi

I would agree with the other poster, if you give the individual the download prior to the confirmation, there is absolutely no incentive for them to confirm their address.

Rather than send them to a download page straight after entering their details, I would suggest offering a OTO of some description related to the give away. Doing this can easily cover any expenses in running the "freebie" giveaway.

      I hope this helps.

      All the best

So set up a "Thank You" page telling to check their email and why they have to confirm... like a "sorry but for spam laws... " kinda thing?

Is there any exmples you know of?

I use Infusionsoft for my autoresponder and they allow the
link to the PDF to act as the confirmation link. Plus, the
text for the e-mail body and subject line is fully customizable
        which is great.

If they click on the link to the PDF then they become a
double opt-in subscriber in the database.

        Dedicated to your success,

        Shaun

          Great stuff guys! Thank You!

So would I also wait to put an affilaite link on the dowload page after confirmation or do it on the thank you page when I'm telling them about their email confirmation?

I have them confirm in order to get the downloads. They are giving me a valid email address in exchange for a "free" thing.

I do use Aweber - so it is a double opt-in. Instead of using Aweber's voice-over reminder to confirm, I use my own page where I explain in detail they must confirm in order to receive the "good stuff."

I think single opt-in would be better and bring in more people to the list, but I haven't tested it.
