HELP HELP HELP What is Scour.com?

I think I have a virus or something and need major help. No matter what result I click on in my searches (google or firefox) when I click the link it redirects to some scour.com page.

I can't get around it and can't search for a fix because everytime I do it redirects to another page.

Can someone please tell me what the heck to do?

Thanks

It's called a "redirect virus". there is a lot of mention about it on Google.

Apparently most virus checkers are fooled by it, but two anti-virus and anti-malware programs seem to be successful at removing it:

Avira - Anti virus for Linux, Windows and more with firewall, antispam, recovery security - Avira AntiVir

    Malware Bytes - Malwarebytes

I'd suggest downloading these on another computer and using a USB drive to install it on the infected one.

    Best of luck

This is what I would do.

Before you start - BACKUP your documents NOW.

    1) Will it let you go directly to a web link? If so, go to malwarebytes.org - download and run the free version.

    2) If you can't go directly to malwarebytes.org there are two more things you could try:
    a) Try starting your computer in safe mode and see if you can go to malwarebytes.org then
    b) If that doesn't work, try doing a system restore - often that will let you get onto the internet again
    3) If none of that helps, get a friend to download AVG onto a memory stick and see if you can transfer that onto your computer. I'm not sure if this still works, but it used to be possible to download the updates to a memory stick too. Then you can install and update AVG directly from the stick.

If none of that works - post back, but I'm sure others will have more suggestions

A really simple tool that saved my puter one time is Avast. You download and install it. Then you have to restart the computer to complete the install. You have an option of doing a 'boot time scan.' It stops the restart and scans everything when nothing else is moving.

After it removed a 2 part problem, I googled it and found stories of computers that were just trash after, and couldn't be used again.

I use MS Security Essentials now, but am still really happy about that one ability of Avast that might come in handy again some day.

Had the redirect problem and found this old forum. I downloaded the malware software and ran it. It found 8 problems so I said to fix them. Before I had the redirect problem, now I can't go to any internet sites except my home page. Any ideas? Windows 7
