Okay, need advice. I purchased one of the recent launches via an affiliate link, because I liked the bonuses that were offered.

The affiliate through whom I purchased is a rising star here at the WF. He's had some successful launches in his own right. Had a bad experience with a launch last year in which he wasn't fully prepared and then went of out town, but he seemed to recover from that. The quality of his info is good.

Anyway, I purchased this other guru product through him, because I wanted his bonuses. I emailed the receipt to him as requested. He responded that I was "one of the 25" and thus qualified. He said "give me a few hours." I was fine with that.

A day passed. Nothing. I emailed a reminder. No response.

A few more days passed. I emailed another friendly reminder. No response.

I've sent three reminders. No response. I've used two email addresses. He's basically ignored me.

At this point, it's the principle of the thing.

Now, you'll note that I'm NOT mentioning this person's name. I don't want to slam him publicly....not yet anyway. I want to practice the Golden Rule here.

What would YOU do if you got stiffed on bonuses and your emails are being ignored?

Yes, if you bought through paypal, contest the transaction. That may lead to either your money back or him responding appropriately.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

I think you could ask for a refund. It would be fair (not with the seller, maybe, but you can't lose your money because of the affiliate).

However, if he is a warrior, why don't you try to PM him? Maybe he will respond...

I would not ask for a refund (unless you are dissatisfied with the product)...

If there is another affiliate (let's call him Bruce) who has a bonus you like, contact the Guru and request that your order be credited to Bruce. (this is viable so long as affiliate payout's have been sent yet.)

Explain the situation so that the Guru is aware that one of his affiliate is promoting his product in a way that is leaving a bad taste in his customers mouth. The Guru should be able to contact the affiliate if he is so inclined to see what is going on...

If that isn't possible then I would chalk it up as a lesson learned and I would not buy from any of his links again. I commend you for not dragging this "rising star's" name though the mud here. Let's hoe that something legit happened and it has delayed the affiliate from fulfilling his bonuses...

    Good Luck,

I agree to to the advice stated above. My option is having another option to the authorities in able for me to discuss my side. I am hoping that they could understand the situation.

I made this mistake before with someone who purchased a VERY high ticket item from me to get my bonus package.

The problem is, the email address I had put up to claim the bonus I actually FORGOT about and never checked it -- it was completely inadvertent on my part. I generally set up "guru launch" sites 1-2 months in advance whenever I choose to do them.

I didn't check the email address until about 2 weeks later(dummy). I had the claim bonus form on my site going to one email, and another article on my blog saying to go to another email. That was my fault.

Granted, he only asked ONCE for the bonus, and I don't know if that's the reason why he refunded -- but, I don't see any other reason why he would.

He did refund -- cost me over $1200 -- but I couldn't blame him -- and I took it as a lesson learned.

In my experience though, I have had most people NEVER come back and claim the bonus package. With myself ignorant of the fact I had two email addresses to claim the bonus for this particular incident, I had figured he didn't care about the bonus. But, apparently he did . . .

Also, I find that possibly 50%+ of those who never claim the bonus purchase all of the upsells and refund!

And, since then, I've made sure everything went the right way with future projects from that moment on. In fact, especially if it is a Clickbank product, I contact them after the purchase to tell them they qualify for the bonus. Some of them claim it, some of them don't; and, many don't refund!

I agree with the others -- get a refund and purchase through another. It is a tough lesson to learn, but one that will be learned quickly -- especially if it is a high ticket item.

P.S. You should also send an email explaining why you got the refund and say why you gave his money to another affiliate. "Bonus stiffing" ain't cool, and when I did it, albeit inadvertently, I felt -- well -- horrible.

Ryan said it all from an affiliate point of view.

Well if I were in your shoes, I would give it about a week max (contacting him in anyways I can, as much as possible).

After that, if still no replies, then Paypal Dispute I go.

      Hi Brian

If he is a "rising star" send him a PM letting him know about the [Oversight].

Most 'rising stars' look at the WF PM box on a daily basis.

Just add a catchy Headline.(Be nice).

      regards

I'm not sure what good a PayPal dispute would do since the vendor delivered what was promised. His beef is with the affiliate, not the vendor.

I sent this person a Warrior PM with a link to this thread. We'll see if that works.

This person responded to my Warrior PM, said he was sorry and that he would get me the bonuses. I showed him this thread.

Well, it's been a week since then and still no bonuses. And I've even sent him a couple more reminders via email.

I've pretty much given up on him.

But I want to say to everyone else reading this...

Don't be so busy chasing the next dollar that you forget to follow through on your previous commitments. And if you become successful, don't become so prideful and full of yourself that you forget about or disregard your customers.

You can offer great products, have fancy sales copy, and be great at lining up JVs and all that, but if you don't truly care about your customer, then you're building your business on a foundation of sand.

              Brian,
I don't want to slam him publicly....not yet anyway.
Not ever, if you're smart. Using the "not yet" as a lever to try and pressure someone into something is not an appropriate use of this forum.

And, reading farther down the thread, this comment...
I sent this person a Warrior PM with a link to this thread. We'll see if that works.
... makes it clear that this thread is just that. A threat.

              Take this outside the forum.

We've been over this discussion recently. Do not try to turn this into a debate over Rule #1.

I've already decided not to name him in this thread. I agree that the Warrior Forum is not an appropriate place to slam people individually, even if they deserve it.

However, I reserve the right to mention this incident in a different thread that may involve product reviews. So, if in the future, I see a situation in which Warriors are legitimately asking for information concerning this person's bonuses for future launches, I think that, within such a context, it's VERY appropriate for me to weigh in.

But for now, as far as this thread is concerned, I will not name the individual.

You cannot reserve a right you do not have. You are still using this thread to make threats.

This time it's a week. Next time it will be a more meaningful duration.

                    General note:

I have formed no opinion on the validity of Brian's complaint, or lack thereof. I don't know or care. It is irrelevant. What we have here is a naked threat, and exactly the sort of thing that would become the norm for just about any customer service issue if it were allowed.

                    It will not be allowed.
