What tasks do you AUTOMATE? And how?

Hello Warriors,

So there we have it. Something short of Autoblogging and legal, ethical... no copyright infringement or guilt. :p

What parts of your online business do you automate? and how?

    I use a combination of semi-automated tools depending on the task at hand and create my own when needed.

    I find that autoblogging can become semi-autoblogging and with just a bit of manual input can make a huge difference when compared to just spitting out rubbish.

    That way I get to use some of the great functionality that certain WP plugins offer and it creates efficiencies although not completely automating the tasks.

    Brad, thanks for breaking the "Autoblogging is Waste" myth. Done right, it can work well, really well.

    Do you automate or semi-automate, as you say, tasks like keyword/niche research, blog pinging, article marketing (submission, bookmarking, etc.), and other such tasks? If yes, what tools do you use?

      I automate almost nothing nowadays, but I do outsource. And I reinvest 50% of my profits.

      In other words, I am trying to "automate" my entire business in which I hope not to spend more than 1 hour per day after some time. Would you call that "automation"?

        Well, effectively that's automation. But technically, not. I mean... there are some people, me included, that are not yet in a position to outsource and there are only 24 hours a day. So, automation is the key to doing a lot of things.

          I know there can be great value in outsourcing, however, I'm not at that point yet either....are there areas of my business that I could probably streamline and making more efficient, with outsourcing? Probably...I have a few ideas for outsourcing, but for now, I'm just keeping all my work inhouse....

          If someone has enough time (not in a desperate situation to earn immediately, for example has some family support or a full time job for self-support etc) and a bit of money (may not be too much), then does following plan work?

          Take one niche. Develop and SEO it. With a good domain name and even 100% outsourcing, you would easily find yourself in the first page in 3 months. The cost of SEO, if you find a good one with sufficient demand and not-too-high competition, ought to be less than 1,000 USD and around 3 months of time even if you automate 100%. And if you decide to put in some effort, your cost ought to be much lesser.

          Assuming that in 3 months you start earning well, take 1 more site, and repeat the same. 6 months later from start (3 months from that point), you have 2 sites.

          Let each site feed one more site for SEO - that takes you to 4 sites in 9 months, and 8 sites in 1 year. And there may be glitches here and there but you know what I mean. I mean, with an initial of $1000 and 1 year of time to support yourself, you may establish yourself.

          How hard is that initial $1000? Not too hard - go figure how. Hint: If you are in IM then you know how to make money by offering quality services. Specialize in one area and let that drive your business initially. Then, that would automate the rest of it in a year or so.

            Fred, that's cool... I mean that sets the idea right and is the way to go if long term is what we're looking at.

            However, that doesn't count as "automation" as per the connotation of this thread, I guess. Besides, keeping your experience & expertise in mind, I'm guessing you do automate a few things (or maybe your VA or the outsourcing services vendor does).
