Affiliates on Clickbank?

Hello to all vendors and affiliates,

a question for both of you.

Affiliates:
What is important for you when choosing a product to promote?
Is a 50% commission "fair" for a product that costs $97?

Vendors:
How many affiliates do you think are "average" per product?
How hard is it to find affiliates and how do you get more of them to promote your products?

Thanks for the answers and advice,

good luck,
Jack

Most resources say that affiliates should look for products that are selling for more than $50 and are offering more than 50% commission - just a rule of thumb though.

As far as getting more affiliates, you need a good set of resources (banners, graphics, keywords, articles, email templates, videos, etc.) that your affiliates can use to promote your product. People will promote a product more and more effectively if they have stuff they can use easily - people don't want to create their own banners to advertise your product (and you don't want them to either).

Then you need to drive traffic to the affiliate section of your site, promote affiliate offers, etc. Maybe even get an ad spot on the clickbank sidebar.

The most important thing for me would be not to use CB at all. I live in Thailand and it takes an eternity to receive and get their paper checks processed ... I really don´t understand why CB has not yet implemented PayPal in to their system ... just doesn't make sense. Try paydocom.com for example, and there are loads of totally independent affiliate programs out there, just google the niche you´re targeting + "affiliate program" and you will find plenty of alternatives to CB.

    P.S

I should add that CB has the biggest online digital product based market place, so it is a very good tool for market research, but that is as far I go with them.

As an affiliate, I would prefer promoting a product with 50% and up commissions. If it's a low cost product ranging from $10-$27, I would prefer to promote it with 75% commissions. I like promoting low cost products as it is easy to get a lot of sales, but if the product is ranging from $67-$97, then 50% would be fine.

Yes, I think so, in principle, anyway. I like being an affiliate for $97 products and will look, in this price-range, at products offering 50%+, provided they also fulfil my other nine criteria.

I think there are many affiliates (though possibly not the ones professional vendors most want to attract) who won't look at $97 products at all, regardless of the % commission paid, because of their instinctive perception that a $97 product's going to be difficult to sell; but I wouldn't think many of the ones who will are going to be put off by 50% commission.
      Alexa,

I read you "10 things" post.

Could you explain/clarify your stance on Gravity?

      Thanks,
