Best Ways to Build a Facebook "Like" (Previously "Fan") Page on Facebook

I have a website that is starting to grow very nicely. We have over 2,000 followers on Twitter but haven't got to grips with growing a successful Facebook "Like" Page. This brings me on to 3 questions:

1. What are the best tactics to grow a Facebook "like" page?
2. How can you get your site, Twitter and Facebook working in perfect harmony?
3. What resources (websites, plugins etc. ) are there out there to help with these 2 questions?

I hope this makes for an interesting thread that could help a lot of people.

  • Hi David,

Congrats on your 2000 twitter followers!
I just want to share some tidbits on how to grow your Facebook page:
    1) Have a contest, polls, quizzes etc. Make your FB page as interactive as possible for your fans! When they participate in one of your polls/quizzes/contest...it'll be posted on their facebook profile. Their friends can see that they participated in your polls/quizzes. And if they're interested to participate as well, they'll go to your FB page.
    2) Have a blog about copywriting on your site. Use Wordpress blog. Install any wordpress twitter plugin out there that can post your blog post automatically to twitter. Twitter tool comes to mind. And then link your FB page with Twitter with Social Tweet apps. Now every time your blog is updated, your twitter status will get updated and your FB page wall will get updated too. I'm not sure if this set up will do the other way around of auto updating.
    3) See above.

    Good luck!

    • Thanks for the reply. This website is unrelated to the copywriting site.

I was specifically wondering how to grow the number of people who "like" the facebook page. Are there any elaborate ways how to go about this?
  • One way is to provide content that is only available on your Facebook page. So when you update your website or send out a tweet you would tell the user to go to your fan page to get whatever that content or information is.
  • Most important thing is get a catch title for your page that will spark a lot of curiousity or interest. Also, you need to get a lot of friends.

Another tip: Look in Fiverr.com where you pay someone $5 to post a link of your fan page to thousands of fans of their page. Doing "adswaps" for your fan page will get you loads of fans quickly.

You can also use Facebook ads to help with this.

Send me a PM if you need more help with this.

    • Thanks a lot for your advice...

      Did you mean "catchy" title?

Can you send me a link to a Facebook page you've used your tactics on?

  • Just pay for some advertising on Facebook Ads, targeting your market with keywords. The viralness should more than pay for itself since you'll be generating lots more traffic to your fan page, then their friends see it, etc...
  • You can also run a facebook ad for your fanpage, I see this works a lot my friend
