The Definitive Guide To Twitter - This Post :)

Hi Warriors,

After all the mention of Twitter recently I thought I'd just share my thoughts now that I got to 1000 followers.

There's nothing to it.

It's just a nice place full of interesting people doing interesting things all over the world.

Since there was a lot of talk about getting followers I thought I'd just see how much is really involved in it.

All I've done is change my forum sig to include my Twitter link and follow some other people who are into the same things as me - it's taken 2 weeks to get 1000 people to follow me.

What am I doing with them? Nothing!

Well, actually I'm talking to them - it's fun, they're really interesting people.

It was Mark Joyner 'tweeting' that he'll be in Singapore for a day tomorrow that let me know he was coming - I'm glad I'm on Twitter just for that - he's a legend.

Yes I could push a bunch of promotional links a few times a day and try and turn these people into something more, but right now a few strangers are becoming friends and I'm finding out some people are doing really cool things, so I'm good with that.

So - if you're wondering how to get 1000 followers - all you need to do is find people who like what you like and talk to them. It's as simple as that.

If you just tap-in to what you're passionate about you can find a lot of people who you can relate to on a real level.

If you just go spamming people and trying to sell stuff, you might make a few sales but you'll miss the best part of using Twitter.

I know that's not a very IM thing to say, but hey I've never been very conventional when it comes to IM.

So - I say get on Twitter, meet some cool people and maybe you'll get the same thing as when you use the Warrior forum properly - Friends, business partners and revenue.

If you follow me and message me that you're a warrior - I'll follow you back.

Andy

I think people underestimate putting your twitter link in your forum sig sometimes. You just got one more follower right now from me. To be honest I thought I was already following you, but I wasn't yet.

You are right though, it does not take too much work at all to start to build up a large following on twitter.

    Well said Andy.

I just read this wee phrase that sums up how to get the most out of social networking sites:

    Share and connect

    Simple.

And yes, it goes for this place too.

It's one of those things that if you don't 'get' it you miss out.

If you just go there to try and abuse the system to make money, you can struggle to get a responsive following.

If you go there to create relationships and a community - you automatically build a responsive following.

If you stop trying - it's easier to get the results.

I've been on twitter for a while. Never really thought of putting it in my sig. So just added it.
