Wordpress Advice please

INTERNET MARKETING

Is it possible for me to build a site on wordpress that consist of just pages and if so how do i use one of the pages as my home page.

I really like wordpress and find it easy to use ,but i don't want my site to be like a blog but more like a normal website

I also don't want to display the pages at the top of the site as there will be to many,so just on the side bar would be ok.

Could someone tell me if this possible to do.

Yes, but i don't want the pages listed at the top as there would be lots of them,so in the side bar would do me.

What theme did you use?

Does the pages on wordpress rank just as good as post do with the search engines.

  This is a theme I developed. If you search on Wordpress+theme+free you will have plenty to choose from.

In your dashboard there will be a settings menu with reading sub-menu, there you can set your front page as a static page.

There are some themes/widgets that allow the pages to be listed in the sidebar.

A Wordpress blog is an excellent SEO tool in itself, at least when using plugins like "all-in-one-seo".

  As mentioned, go to Settings - Reading. There is an option to set your home page as Static.
  
  To exclude tabs from showing on top, you need to go into Design - Theme Editor and modify the main-menu.php file (at least for mine) and modify the following:
  
  <?php wp_list_pages('depth=1&title_li=&exclude=135, 14, 27, 691, 973, 967, 962, 1069'); ?>
  
  This will exclude pages 135, 14, 27, etc.
  
  Yes, they will get indexed the same. As mentioned make sure you use WordPress › All in One SEO Pack WordPress Plugins. Another good one is the WordPress › Google XML Sitemaps WordPress Plugins.
