What's your "one liner" of advice for new people?

Yesterday I started a thread that contained some simple but valuable advice for new people who are wondering what should be first on their "to do" list.

It advised new people (and others) to start building a list from day one so that, in the future, $1,000 days would be a reality for them and not merely a spammy headline for a crap product.

And no, I didn't explain how to do it - there is plenty of information on here and elsewhere about that.

So what's your "one liner" of practical advice for new people?

Note: Generalities and cliches such as "take action" need not apply.

Cheers,

Neil

I agree that you need one thing to focus on but you can't know what that should be until you try a few things.

So my one liner advice is:

Sample a small number of online business models that interest you most and after one month focus solely on the one that has made you the most money.

keep in touch with your site.

if you write articles choose a frequency of writing (would it be 1 article per week) and try to increase it or at least to keep it.
if you have members, don't ignore their comments/postings
if you sell products, try always to have new items

that will guarantee you a returning visitors

Kezz beat me to it. What I was going to say was...

While I definitely agree that it's vitally important to stick to one thing until it makes money, there's no guarantee that any one thing will make money.

It's important to make sure there's a thriving market for your product or service or you're simply flogging a dead horse.

    Back to the one-liners...

Treat the world the way you'd want it to treat you.

Not very IM'ish on the face of it, but your reputation and traffic will grow if you're not wasting people's time when they click on your links, your customers will be happy to spread the word and make repeat purchases if you provide real value in exchange for their cash and the brotherhood known as your competitors will be as thankful as you are not to see their offers disappear into the vast mire of regurgitated duplicate content and dubious deals that you could otherwise all be contributing to. If you've had doubts that this is possible then it's never too late to be the change you want to see.

When you hit a brick wall, follow the quote in my sig: "improves... adapt... overcome"

I can't even begin to count how many times in the past where I would stumble into something that affected me greatly (new EZA policies, adwords issues, loss of rankings in the search engines, website problems, and on and on), and all I would do is spend my time complaining and feeling like giving up. Then, one day after hearing that quote, and then implementing it to my life and business, everything changed... for the better.

Just do it. I know that's synonomous with "Take Action" cliche, but that is about the most important thing in internet marketing.

THe money is out there.. It is still a gold rush out there. And it will be for some time in the future. Just take action. Whether it's starting a niche related blog and writing or it's creating a large twitter user base to sell your affiliate products to.

"Stop living through the successful people and become successful" - I guess that's a non-cliche way of saying just do it.

I'm gonna add another before the cliches take over the asylum

    Know your numbers.

    - Conversion rate (for subscriptions)
    - Conversion rate (for sales)
    - Visitor value

    Look 'em up.

All you need is something simple like the free StatCounter to do the tracking.

Then it's your job to work on increasing all of them bit by bit.

    Cheers,

    holla,

my best suited one liner which mostly suits the business onwers:

The only key to successful business is plan yourself.

the more you concentrate on your plans & strategies, the better you can attain results, the more you can earn & the more you can reinvest.

Successful businesses are not made in a day, you put a root & it grows to a large enterprise in years & years

One doubt I have, should we focus on building a list of people that bought something also if they bought products from different niches? Or is better to build a list for every niche one is promoting?

I was thinking one list for every payed customer. What are your thoughts on this?
