This may be a rather stupid question for some of you. But I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm having an issue. I am a business developer for a company and I'm trying to get affiliates. We have an affiliate network. I want to know what is the best way to do this. Are there key websites I should go to to find them..how should I do SEO for this.

These keywords are incredibly popular. Therefore its hard to rank organically for them. And everyone wants to see quick results..however I dont think I can do that. Any suggestions?

Find the sites that rank high in the organic results (in all of the major SEs, not just Google) for your keywords. Take a look at them and see if any of them have a newsletter, or are building a list via an opt-in form. If they are and they're not a direct competitor, contact them to explore the possibility of an affiliate relationship. Present it as a win-win-win.
i.e. Besides you making a sale, what you're offering will help them help their subscribers.

Also, look to see if they're already promoting related and/or competing products.

And make sure you have pre-made affiliate tools that makes it easy for them to promote your offer (banners, articles, emails, etc.).

Just make sure you communicate how working with you will be good for them as well as for their visitors/subscribers. Don't just hammer them with "We pay the highest commission rate", "We have the best products", etc. type statements.

Run a few ppc campaigns to gather new affiliates, as they are always looking for HOT OFFERS THAT CONVERT

You could run a WSO here, showing customers how to make big fat pay cheques promoting the product you're involved with.

Article marketing campaigns, Video campaigns etc.

You could try and network with major website owners in the niche you're involved in.

Basically think of your Affiliate Page as your product and really sell the benefits of why they should put in the hard work for you.

Hell, throw in a free trip to Las Vegas for those that reach a certain quota :-)

Anyone else find this slightly ironic? You run an affiliate network, yet don't know where to find affiliates? lol
