Hey everyone,

I'm in need of some extra cash. With the economy here in the U.S. Who isnt!

Anyways, I need to sell my blog but don't know how to price it. I've worked hard to get a PR3, alexa rank under 99k, and all original content.

Please have a look and let me know what you think it's worth. It's a blog on niche marketing, IM, blog traffic, mixed in with some reviews. The blog has been up since July 08 and has about 160 newsletter subscribers. It also ranks on 1st page in google for "niche ideas", 2nd page for "niche marketing".

Please let me know what you thing it's worth.

As far as worth goes... I suppose that is going to change a lot from person to person. I would probably pay somewhere in the $250 to $350 range - but you may be able to get quite a bit more than from the "right" buyer.

    @Mike- about $200 a mo

@blase40- I guess my next question is where can I find the "right" buyer?

If it's making $200 a month I think you should get at least $1200 for it. When it comes down to it though the value of a site is only what a buyer is willing to pay. You could get more, but it could also be less.

Try using this valuation tool Website Valuations and Appraisals, Value a Blog, Domain or other online Business - it's quite accurate as it's based on the prices that similar sites were sold for at Sitepoint.

If it's making 200 a month I wouldn't sell it, I highly doubt someone would pay you a price that is worth trading that monthly income for. Of course if you don't have the time or something like that and if you manage to sell it for 1000+ I would definitely go for it.

Your domain name has mindshare; It is easily remembered
The site theme has value and is supperb

    Love your blog.

I agree with Hamida. If it's making money in the $xxx range, then over $1000 would be a good price. As stated above, the right buyer would pay quite a bit.

@lauraajel- traffic is about 3,500 UV a mo. Compete.com states over 8k UV.

    @hamida- thanks for the awesome tool. Gives a good idea. This is what it states;

nichefree.com, First registered on 2008-07-02, Valued on 2008-10-29, Currently valued at USD. 3120

    It's just a suggestion I guess.

          Anytime!

The best way to find that "right" buyer is to run a "dutch" style auction, where you would set a minimum price- maybe ten thousand.

Keep the max price hidden and see what kind of bids you get from that.

You would want to set a price tower so as no low-baller snipes at the last minute and walks with your site.

          Good luck!

Good info, Thanks! Where would be the best place to sell; sitepoint, digital point, warrior forum, or ebay?

Some are getting good results with ebay, or you can try the domain auction houses.

A lot more serious money in the domain arena, but the buyers are pro's and will investigate the site thoroughly.

              SEDO is good.

If you're looking for a grand or more, forget DP... they'll pay around $200 max ;p Sitepoint is the place to go.

I love the look, it's definitely catchy. If I were a buyer I'd say ummmmm......anywhere between $500-$1000. But I would first like to know the kind of traffic this website is receiving. That would also determine, I would think, how much you'd sell it for.

Based on the two tools provided, one gives an estimate of $2,100 the other gives $3,100.

I guess I can average it out and take it from there?

    What do you guys think?

    Eric,

I see your point with the buyers. The only downside with ebay is the high fees. I think DP and sitepoint could be good but, I don't know?

I guess I'll have to test and find out.

Try to get at least 12 times the monthly income i.e. $2,400.

Write a really good description and provide screenshots to prove the income and you should get it.

Personally, I would forget about Digitalpoint and eBay.

I would list it on Sitepoint with a $2500 Buy It Now price and a starting bid of say $1000-$1500 and choose what reserve suits you.

I'd say you would definitely get $1500+

        Hope that helps

People will pay you depending on your website stats...
How much traffic & revenue does this website generate a month. What PR rating is it, has all the SEO been done already...

From the looks of it and this is my personal opinion I believe you can honestly sell this website for a minimum of $2500.00. BUT again the better stats of your website the more you can sell it for. Hope this helps you man & best of luck!

You undervalued yourself with a $1400 buy it now price. That site was worth at least $3,000.

Had I seen this post a couple weeks ago when you wrote it, I would have sold it for you to my list of website buyers...

I predict that with a site like that, you can make close to $2000. I would post it on Site Point asap. I am sure the results will be to your liking.

Think it was worth a little more than $1,400 (probably around $2-$2.5k) but as it's your first blog you did well to sell it at all. Take it as a learning experience and use that for the next one

Personally, something I've used is always to price the BIN (if one is included early in the auction) to double what I actually want for the site.
