I Tried Autoresponders But I Think "Blogging" is Way Better
- Blogging is really just a trendy term for mailing list anyway. You write something, press submit and someone else gets it delivered to them.
- People are way too hung up on the term "blogging". A blog is really just software that makes it easier than ever to publish anything at all to the web, to someones email or newsreader.
- Blogging forces you to keep writing content which gives the added search traffic. With newsletters/autoresponders the content is only in an email inbox - seems like a waste.
- The only difference between blogging and an autoresponder from what I can tell is control over the order in which someone gets your messages. I don't care about that, I put my sales message at the header of every blog post and then write my "legit" informative content under it.
- Blogging platforms are way easier and cheaper (free) to deal with than autoresponders.
- With blogging the added benefit is you can do full feeds that include your affiliate links and then god bless the spam blogs who publish your affiliate links 1000 times over. Can't do that with an autoresponder.
I've been Webmastering since 1994 and I just want to sort out the hype of "blogging" as a type or style of journal communication which is a bunch of outdated technocratic jargon. It can be a "web log" for some people, but in IM its really just a new kind of delivery mechanism. Thats why you see more and more regular "wesbites" using Wordpress as a CMS.
In other words, I am not a "blogger". I am an Internet Marketer who uses a blogging platform to deliver content in an automatic, targeted, systematic way - and IMO its a better technology than autoresponders for many purposes. Just thought I'd share my experience since I wasted a ton of time and money with autoresponders until I realised that I want all my content on the web and I don't want to manage two streams of delivery.
* This is not to say that if you truly must deliver an e-course in a certain order that an autoresponder is well suited. *
