FLash Banners for Affiliates

Hi,

My designer has created some flash banners for me and I wanted to know about how an affiliate would get the code into the banner etc, becuase don't you normally have to embed the code into the flash. maybe i'm wrong.

I've seen some sites that the affiliate enters a code in a box then it generates someting for the affiliate.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Simon

Not sure which code you mean exactly. Are you talking about your affiliate link? If so & if there is no way to generate your own banner ads from the merchant sites affiliate area then surely you will need to obtain the .flv file & replace the link with your affiliate link then save it as a .swf file ready for posting to your site.

Sorry disregard this - I didn't read your post properly. Good luck but this is beyond my capabilities!!

Yes, Google index code from flash animation.
It's an interview on the internet with Michael Marshall where he says:

"Yes. You can enter your search term in Google, and along with that search term, use the filetype operator and restrict your search to the file extension ".swf". This will search for your search term only in Macromedia Flash files. You should see [FLASH] just before each listing in the results page that is a Flash document.
For example, put the following in the search box at Google:
Best Free Banner Exchange Market" filetype:swf"

    Then another question is answered:
How can we extract the text found in a flash file to see what Google sees?
And Michael Marshall says that Macromedia Flash Search Engine SDK that will give us just what we need.
The software development kit includes an application name swf2html that extracts text and link from a flash .SWF file, and returns the data to stdout or as an HTML document.

sorry maybe i didn't explain fully - normally if you create a banner for your affilates, they save it out and then put it on their web site with their link attached to it.

So with flash banners is it the same, i can't simply put a flash banner in an 'affiliate area' and expect affiliates to grab it and put it on their site, they won't be able to input their affiliate link to it?

Well if affiliates are going to use the banner ads on their sites then they can just link the flash banner in exactly the same way they would turn a picture into a link through their html editor. Obviously if they are planning to submit it to sites they don't own and therefore can't edit then this is where the problem will occur...I assume...
