How much do you earn?

hi all,

Just thought i'd create a thread to increase the motivation of some of us who are trying to make money online but not yet succeeding. Only been doing Internet/Affiliate marketing for a few months but not seen any returns yet so motivation is starting to decrease.

So what better way to increase motivation that to see what i could potentially be earning if i stick with it!

So, without giving too much away obviously, how much do you earn consistently every month and how long did it take you to get there?

I'm now making anywhere between $10K and $15K a month, took me about 2 years to get there. There's no shortcut, it's all about hard work. I've been involved into SEO for a long time and a few months ago I started looking at PPC. Seems like I'm learning fast but I'm still far far away from making as much as some affiliates I know (takes them 3 days to earn what I make in a month). I'll get there though, just a matter of time...

I started 5 months ago and things are starting to come together for me now. I'm making a few hundred every month and growing. I am really excited about it.

Keeping the right mindset, staying motivated, working hard and being persistent are all very important but the most important thing is to have a plan and stick to it.

Often I see people starting out in IM and trying something for a few weeks and then move on to the next thing or next great system of the week.

Sit down and take your time to write up a plan. Think it through.

What are you going to offer? What about promotion? How to promote? Listbuilding? Website? Strategies? Testing?
Make a daily schedule of your tasks and stick to that schedule. Be really serious about it. Treat this as a (part-time) job.

Take time to learn stuff. Browse this forum, ask questions and study everything you can find on the subject.

You have to give something attention before it can grow. It takes time but will pay off in the end.

    Doolder,
It took you 2 years, eh? I just don't think that most people in the industry have been honest enough about how much hard work and time it really does take to make more than $10k/month. You'd hardly hear someone telling you it would take over 2 years of hard work.

Took me a few months to make a few hundred dollars but a few years to consistently make more than a few thousand.

Two years is actually less than it takes most people. Not that it can't be done more though... Depends a lot on who you learn from and how much you focus your time on doing what works.

It depends on how much I work! If I have a slacker month and don't do much, go on vacation, etc. then I might only bring in a few hundred. If I actually work, I'll bring in a couple/few thousand.

I think success depends on whether you're really treating it like a proper business.

It strange because once you do start to make some good money, you realize that it's not that hard and often wonder why it took so long to start making money in the first place.

It took me about 3 years to make it consistently and I put that down to me:

    a) Not being educated enough on making money online
    b) Not having a proven plan to follow
    c) Giving up to soon
    d) Jumping on-board the next big hyped up strategy before properly testing the last one I'd started on

I did make some on and off money during the 3 years that I didn't, but often I had no idea where that had come from, like I got a cheque in the post for $60 because I'd made a couple of random affiliate sales, but the chances are I'd probs spent more on my advertising costs then anyway.

There are many different ways to make money online whether you are using CPA, Clickbank, building a list, seo, PPC...

It's best to pick a strategy that you feel most comfortable / confident with and become a master of it (ignore any hyped up products that fly your way).

As it's far better to be a master of one strategy otherwise you'll end up being a jack of all trades master of one.

    --

I think it's very hard to estimate now how long it should take someone to start earning consistent money when you're talking generally because you don't know what information they are using...

I personally feel though that If I sat down with somebody and explained everything I do, I could teach that person how to do it and start earning consistent money within 1-3 months (shortcutting the time it would have taken them to find out on their own)

Might have completely missed the point of this message and gone off on a tangent a bit, but hopefully it's helpful anyway :-)

Why not work 3 times that (30-36hrs) and make triple the income then? just a thought ...

Agreed, but I guess whether someone would rather have the sare time or the extra income. Me in that position would at least crank it upto at least 30 hours per week and rake in the extra cash.

How many people have moved on from affiliate to ecommerce? Just wondering as thats the plan I've set for myself (To build up a portfolio of high performing affiliate sites and then transform them into sites that sell product). I can see that making alot of money from only affiliate would require a LOT of work, however taking a few well performing affiliate sites and increasing the margins by actually buying stock would be easier.

Our site has been up since early May and we are making a few hundred bucks a month now. It is getting busier all the time, and I hope it will continue that way, of course. It's meant to supplement the income from our offline biz, and hopefully one day replace the offline biz.

Yeah you've definitely got to stick at one until you make it profitable.

For example some people throw up a niche blog and often instantly expect it to hit no1 on Google in the first couple of weeks, when often you may not see results til 3-4 weeks, sometimes even longer depending on the competition.

One thing I used to do was start one campaign and then a big launch would happen, so I'd instantly jump on-board and buy that thinking that this must be the new "easiest" way to make money online, and it "MUST" be better than the previous method I was trying.

Of course by the time I'd starting getting this campaign underway, the next big launch would happen and I'd once again move on.

Many products even though they are hyped up are good products, which is why they sell and obviously work for the people selling them...but often it's just another strategy that could work, and the previous strategy probably would work just as well as the 1 you've jumped on-board to...

My advice to anybody that's not making money yet, but wants to is to do the following:

    1) Ignore 99% of your emails... because they'll probably be a product launch, or something that can distract you... you'll end up thinking the product is better than what your currently doing (when it's not) and probably jump ship.

    2) Stay focused. Grab yourself a notepad, and write out your strategy, and make sure you are consistent with following it. I don't get technical, I just have a notepad and a to-do list for the day ahead :-)
