I was just curious what people thing about using articles as a way to drive traffic to their website.

Should you submit the same article to various sources, or should you spin it?

Is it good to keep pumping out articles and writing them everyday, or should you wait x amount of days between submission?

Thanks for your input!

    My humble opinion, you should spin them. I like to submit 3 per day per niche.

      yes, spin your article at least 30% for google to give them ranking, and also because some of the top article directories will look around the web to see if there are same/similar articles, and if they find even just 1 they will not accept yours, it happened to me many times where I submitted using softwares and then through submission sites and some articles were rejected.

      Submission frequency is important, you don't have to submit everyday but, if you like to use that strategy, which by the way does work, then consistency is the key.

    Great answer, John!

    I'm not a big fan of spinning, but I do change up the articles a bit before posting them to different sites and directories.

      That is what spinning actually is. You are putting your own spin on the original content (the first article). Real spinning is where you put an article into your own words. To often though we associate spinning with synonym replacement which is a poor substitute for real spinning.

        When it comes to article marketing I think bigger is better, getting as many good articles out will increase your traffic. The more you have the bigger the impact, in my humble opinion!

          The trick is putting out articles that people want to read.

          You will find about 2/3rds of the Warriors want to spin. The remaining 1/3rd want to create good content and syndicate it.

          These are two camps, and both will make a decent argument for their position.

          The primary difference between the arguments will be that the Spinning camp will tell you "It is ONLY about building links and gaining SEO and Search Traffic!"

          In the syndication camp, they will tell you that "It is about getting readers, direct click-through's AND search rankings."

          I am in the Syndication Camp. In my ten years of doing Article Syndication, I have generated a lot of immediate sales as the result of my articles appearing in respected newsletters and websites. I have had several $10,000 days, as a result of article syndication.

          Most people in the Spinning community have never had such a day using Syndication, and perhaps never will.

          Some may call me arrogant for saying this, but syndication works for those who can write well, and spinning works fine for those who will never write well...

          It takes a lot more work to make the syndication model work. But when it works, it has the potential of injecting thousands of dollars into your business almost immediately. With syndication, the greatest reward is from click-through traffic from your articles, which is pre-qualified traffic that is more likely to buy what you are selling. Syndicated content works well for SEO and search traffic too, but it will take longer to see the financial reward from that, since that traffic is often less qualified and more sporadic.

          When you are unwilling or unable to create content that works well in syndication, the only thing left is spinning. And with a mass of spun content, you could have some winners out there that get page one Google rankings, and more importantly, you may eventually get enough recognition from Google to put your site on page one.

            The popular thing to do is to submit your articles to top article directories, or article distribution services that promise to blast your articles to thousands of publishers that you may not even want publishing your articles. After all, that's what everyone else is doing, right?

            But is that the most effective way to promote your articles? In my opinion, no. Here’s why: When you submit your articles to article directories or use an article distribution service, there's a good chance your articles will get buried among the thousands of other article submissions. It's probably already happened to you.

            Instead, why not choose one or two authority sites that you would like to be featured on, then focus on developing a relationship with those sites?

            That’s exactly the method I use, and I can tell you from first-hand experience, it’s extremely effective. I’ve established a relationship with a couple of select authority sites, and I submit my articles to them exclusively. If you want to have some control over where your articles are published, I advise you to do likewise.

            Not only that, it's a lot more lucrative. At least, it has been for me. Consistently being featured on the home page of SiteProNews has afforded me the opportunity to build up my clientele to the point, I'm not accepting any new clients. In fact, I'm literally booked for the next 6-9 months. Pretty sweet!

        Good point. I guess I automatically thought of those article spinning software that I have never had good luck with. Maybe I just haven't found the right one, but I still prefer to take the time to do my own re-writes.

          I actually just started a thread similar to this. But heres my input. Title is key to successful traffic. Draw readers in to what you have to say. Submitting different content to each website helps if you have time. Doing seperate SEO for each. Or, if you post the same content on many different websites, i think doing seo on the first submission is the best advice I can give. Google usually ranks the first source of the content..but hey I could be wrong.

            Actually, you don't have to take my word for what I say... Test it for yourself, to see the truth of the matter... But, I have tested many times, and I have seen the tests that others have done, AND Google seldom ranks the "first source of the content" at the top of the page...

            You can place an article on one site, then wait several months to syndicate it, and upon a search, your original copy of the article can quickly move down to page two, page four, or page ten...

            There are many factors at work to determine where another copy of the same article will fall in the SERPs, and original placement is not one of those factors...

            This is right on advice.

            In order for a publisher, whom hand places articles, to consider your article, he or she must open the article in order to decide if it is one he or she will want to publish... The only thing in most cases the publisher has available to help him or her make that decision is the Title of the article...

            The reader is much the same way... He or she is busy, but looking for information that will help him or her solve a problem or answer a question... These folks usually only have one piece of information by which to make the decision for what they will read, and that one piece of information is the Title...

            Of course, once an article is opened, the first paragraph is the next most important thing, as they person will decide in 10 seconds or less if they really want the time to read this article that has been opened...

    Articles are indeed very good for driving traffic to your website. I send them to many different article directories. But it depends on which directories you are talking about. You can not send to buzzle.com with other directories at the same time. The same applies with ezinearticles. As for some of the article directories, I send articles in an interval of minutes or seconds. If you can, you can post articles everyday and a couple of them. To your success.

    Write 5-10 unique high quality articles and submit them first.

    Then think about spinning those high quality articles.

    I believe that the better quality, even though it'll take longer to do, the better results you'll have.

    tpw is right on... you have a few seconds to convince someone to read your stuff. In article marketing, you have to bring your A-game all the time, which means you have to concentrate on getting QUALITY content out there.

    It does you no good to publish 100 articles if they're not written well. Sure, there are people out there that say all you need to do is publish a ton of so-so content to rack up a bunch of backlinks, but a good article can do so much more for you.

    You have to think of your articles like this - no one online knows you at all. For all they know, you're just another run-of-the-mill-stereotypical-internet-marketer who's only out to make a quick buck. Articles that aren't written very well or are spun (and yes, you can tell when articles are spun by a machine, they don't read well at all!) don't make you look good.

    However, an article that's well-written, informative, and thought-provoking shows that you're a professional. It shows that you're legitimate. It shows that you take pride in what you do. It shows that you really do want to connect with your target audience, instead of slapping together content just to make them open their wallets.

    That doesn't mean you can't rewrite articles. If you've got a great topic, do a little more research, add a bit to it, change it around, and publish it somewhere else. There's a big difference between shoving something in a spinner and rewriting it yourself.

    Above all else, concentrate on quality articles. If you can publish a bunch of quality stuff in a week, that's great. If it takes you a little longer to come up with quality content, that's ok, too. After all, your reputation is on the line. You don't want it to depend on stuff that's just churned out.

      Ok, so here's a question to all the pro writers out there...

      Does reading plenty of quality articles enable someone to actually put this into practice themselves? Are Joanne Public wannabes able to learn this trade over time?

      Sure hope so as I'm learning how too right all the time

        I am sure that many will agree with me on this point...

        Those who are successful as writers are those people who:

        1. Have something valuable to share;
        2. Do not beat around the bush, but get to the point;
        3. Believe what they tell others;
        4. Take the time to edit and refine what is said;
        5. Work hard to inspire their readers; and
        6. Are willing to stand up for something, even in a world of naysayers...

        We can all learn to put the words together, but it is the intent of the writer that shines through to readers and makes a real difference to them...

        Yes, reading helps. But in my opinion, simply writing helps more. It's long been proven, the more you do something, the better you become at it. That applies to writing as well. I say, just write...and write and write!

    In terms of the spinning of articles; I have one article on two different directories on the first page of google for a keyword,(the exact same article). So I don't know what to say about needing to spin articles because google will only pick one.
