How Would You Invest $500 In Internet Marketing

Hello,

Do you have ideas or suggestions on how to most profitably invest $500 in internet marketing?

Please think of my question in terms of advising an investor rather than an internet marketer.

I'd like to know the answer to this.

(It seems to me that because IM's essential tools are so cheap, 'time' is easier to invest than 'money'.)

    Never go cash broke.

Save at LEAST 10 - 20% of everything you make or
currently have because...whatever you invest the
rest in could be gone in a instant if you do paid traffic.

With the rest...well, PPC, ebay, banner ads, are good
sources of paid traffic you can sink your teeth into.

Spend the first $40 on getting a War Room membership. The rest of the remaining $460 should be spend on getting a good Autoresponder, hiring cheap but good labour, and most importantly, on low cost traffic sources. Just my 2 cents.

You can never go wrong, investing in your IM education. Depending on your IM experience, you should definitely invest in some great marketing books. Learn from the greatest marketing minds of all time, then apply that knowledge faithfully. Then, once you know what you're doing, you can invest the rest of the money in advertising.

Some of my favorite marketing books include Cashvertising by Drew Eric Whitman, The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini, The Ultimate Sales Letter by Dan Kennedy, Advertising Secrets of the Written Word by Joseph Sugarman, and Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz.

Again, the key is application. Because...

Do you have anything to market?

I would invest in new traffic streams - try and find some winners that nobody knows about yet - if you find a decent one then $500 is small change in the long run.

I have found Stumble Upon Paid Advertising to be quite effective in doing this. Much cheaper and much more effective than Adwords.

A portion of my investment would go towards this.

You have many choices for what to market and how. I'd recommend
you decide on affiliate vs your own products and then go from there.
Just don't blow it on a lot of resources you won't use, immediately, or
will not give you some kind of ROI soon.

I agreed with Mr. Jackson. You should look for great marketing books or even software, tools then apply the knowledge. To be a succesful IM, You should admit and respect "the power of knowledge"

Most premium wordpress themes are nowhere near $150 (most go for $40-$60). I personally got mine from

Great value, tons of features, low price compared to most and top notch customer support.

A new video camera that films in HD and a lapel mic.

But I dont know whether to get a wireless lapel mic, or one that records audio in mp3 so it can be imported into the video during editing.

    Choose a niche.
Buy a domain, a hosting, an autoresponder, (about $200)
Buy one or two of the top clickbank product on that niche (no more of $97 each)
Read them, apply them, review them, promote them.

Depends on how long the investor is wiling to see a return.

I'd buy a domain name, host it and then spend a great deal of that on developing content for my site. I'd spend some on rewrites of these articles and submit to article directories like EZA.

Get some profile links into the site and if its a high search low competition niche you should start to see results hopefully quite quickly.

Hopefully if you build your your micro niche site into an authority by adding regular content then this should become quite lucrative. You can either keep it for long-term income or flip it and your investor will be a happy bunny!

I personally think you'd waste your money on books since you find a lot of information for free here or by going into the war room!

    Just my opnion anyway!

I do that a fair bit. It can be done quite quickly with nice returns on the investment, even for quickly produced and sold sites.

You might want to use of part of that to hire a VA to free you up so you can make even more money. I know a few successful marketers who have done this. It's not really any different than a brick and mortar business hiring a secretary thus freeing up the boss to see more clientele

I was recently in the same situation and what I would recommend is since I see you've already said you have marketing knowledge and you already have a website then I'm also assuming you already have an autoresponder and a sales funnel set up I would invest in newsletter solo ads found in the Directory of Ezines because this way you actually have more control over what your spending than if you are doing something like PPC advertising. And if you do it right and offer a good lead magnet make the solo ad a very short e-mail with very strong and appealing call to action to go to your capture page to receive a free cd /report/mini course whatever you want to give I will promise you will get a good return on your $500 as long as you have good sales funnel conversion rates of course....if you decide to try this please let me know how it goes for you. It's worked great for me and that's the only reason I recommend it

    I will do the following.

Research Niche - FREE - alot of free ways that can be found on the Warrior Forum
Buy Hosting - $7 per month
Buy Domain - $10 per year .com
Put a Wordpress blog - FREE
Get 40 Articles - $300 - Post 30 on the blog and use the other 10 for publishing them to article directories.
Build Backlinks - Almost Free if you know how...
Use the other $150 for Usefull stuff - like getting more articles, submitting to social bookmarketings and so on...

With all the above, if you do it right you should be able to profit more than $1k per month in a few months time.

Firstly there would be the old adage of buy cheap, sell high. This would apply to services. Sites like freelancer, odesk, elance are the places to look into.

Then you could buy 2 small sites and sell them at a higher price. Use digitalpoint for buying and flippa for selling.

Another one would be creating site from scratch, building it up. Creating cashflow, starting again. By the 3rd site you should have enough cashflow to scale it up using outsourcing.

    Hope it helps,

I would spend a couple of hours researching an IM niche
Spend a couple more compiling that info into an ebook or video product

Spend about $50 on some minisite design

Spend $300 or so on a copywriter

Spend $50 on a good promotional video

get the content up on the site

Spend $50 putting the product on clickbank

Spend $20 to get the product up as a WSO

Have the copywritere make the WSO post

Spend $20 on WSO Pro and create a list from the WSO

Mail the list with an offer to promote as affiliates

    Sit back and relax

Use the profits buy a nice car

I would purchase hosting through bluehost, set up a WordPress Blog, purchase a squeeze page plugin for your WordPress. Create a special report or eBook then beginning immediately building a list.

Become friendly and provide valuable content to your captured list so that when you are ready to promote your product or other people's product. You have develop a rapport now you can monetize your list.

This is coming from a person who has invested over $20k learning this industry in the last few months.

      That's such a generic response!

He stated that he was an investor, not an experienced internet marketer. If someone is new to internet marketing they're best off actually going through the motions before outsourcing.

It sounds like you don't really want to have your fingers in this too much. I'm kind of at a loss for what you could do with just $500 (assuming little to no hands-on work is desired) and be reasonably assured of an ROI.

The problem is that whatever you have produced is going to be the type of thing that has a low bar of entry for those doing the work themselves. So it's like you are paying $500 to compete within the bottom of the industry. See what I'm saying here?

So with that being said, you may just want to gamble with PPC campaigns if you've got the money to risk. Just keep in mind (and I am using a very general example here) that the PPC game is one in which the first $500 invested may bring you nothing in return, but the second round of $500 mysteriously brings you $1,500. So it does have that slot machine effect to it if you don't already know the traffic.
