Your expert keyword opinion...

Hey guys,

I have a question about a keyword and domain i would like to buy.

I was doing some keyword research and found a keyword that gets 90,000 exact match searches and the domain is available

Now that same keyword with review at the end gets 2400 searches exact match.

This is for a physical product and I will be using Amazon as an affiliate. Should I purchase the domain that has the 90,000 or should I use the domain with review at the end of it?

I know the answer should be easy but I'm trying to look at it from a buyers perspective. In other words, is someone more likely in buyer mode if she searches for flat screen tv (just an example) than someone who is searching for flat screen tv review?

Thanks in advance

Peter

The "review" searchers would need to be 37.5 times more in a buying mood than the straight keyword based on search counts just to be even. They probably aren't that much more motivated so go with the larger search term. Then again even with the exact domain match it will be tougher to rank with the higher searched keyword.

Is there any reason you wouldn't do both? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

If they aren't registered they should cost less than $10 a piece, unless I'm missing something. So if the extra $8 or $9 is prohibitive, then I understand avoiding buying both... but otherwise, why not do both and potentially capture more possibly buyers.

Well, I just wanna get my feet wet first. I've been going heavy in the offline market and just want to try some different revenue streams.

Both domains are available at regular cost at this point. So what do you think?

Other than that, does anyone have some suggestions as to what will work well in terms of buyer keywords for a site that promotes physical products found on Amazon?

Currently, I have no intention of buying domains with the product name in I but will be using product names in the various posts.

Just do your homework before buying them if they have brand names in

i'd grab the lower hanging fruit and go for the "review" included, or buy both like someone already mentioned. do some quick competition analysis and what types of big dogs are owning the first page results. chances are, there's no way you'd rank for the 90,000/mo search term any time soon, but with "review" on the end and in the url, you stand a chance of getting on page one fairly quick if you do things right...

mmmm, well if your goal is to sell your product, buy both, because as others says, the combination of both, can get you better results than one alone; and make good quality reviews, and you will have more customers, because as a customer you want honesty, and quality in the product, it's better if you can have both. And do more research about your market, and use more keywords and specific content to get more traffic, and you will boost your site.

Keep in mind your 'review' domain will also match (partially) for the other keyword, where as the non review domain will not.

"keyword review" or "keyword" both match your domain:
      keywordreview.com

Check the competition for the two keywords, I'd bet the first 90,000 search term is much more competitive and harder for you to break into, but review would be much easier.

First rule is < 50,000 phrase match "phrase" is a good keyword to target.

Second rule size up the competition with MS and see what you are up against before launching into your backlinking onslaught.

Yes the full keyword as a domain.com, .org or .net is best.

PS. MS = Market Samurai, a tool you cannot live without if you want to save time and make money online.

You are putting to much thought into this. People rarely care what the domain is, its more to capture position on google with it (and even that is not a for sure thing). Buy them both.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

In terms of domain, I'm not looking for a brand-able domain. I'm thinking in terms of ease of search engine ranking (or shall I say easier) for that particuar keyword and second, is the keyword a buyer keyword in the first place.

For those who have using Amazon I have a question...

Is a general product good in terms of CTR. In other words, can I target underwater digital cameras and then in my posts have specific brands that I'm reviewing or is it better to go for a specific brand in the first place and build a site on that?

      All opinions are appreciated

      Thanks,

      Peter

I would, first, figure out which has the least competition. Of course, I would register both domains but focus on developing the one that will rank easiest first. I would then set my sights on the bigger, more competitive term after the easy one has been established.
