Launching new site - get it perfect or just get it out there?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of building my second site and would like some input please.

My first site I bought as a WSO ready to go, so all I had to do was change the pictures, write some fresh content, set up the bells and whistles and I was good to go to start marketing it and generating traffic.

My second site I'm starting from scratch. So far I have identified my niche, done some keyword research, written some articles, registered my domain name, and am just starting to get the theme up on wordpress and start adding content.

The perfectionist in me thinks everything should be perfect before I start promoting it, but knowing how long the tweaking can take (me) I'm wondering if it is better to get it to a reasonable level and then just get it out there, and perfect it later.

I'm worried about *wasting* any early visitors but I also know that traffic generation takes a while, and thinking I should just get cracking.

Thoughts, opinions, ideas much appreciated.

Depends how much promoting you're doing. If not a lot then just put it out there. If your pushing it then I would get it fairly decent before launching.

It also depends what it it selling. If it is a service or product where you need to demonstrate attention to detail, quality etc, then get it right before launching.

Well certainly dont spend money on ppc or anything until you feel confident.

But there is no reason not to start some seo since that will take a few weeks to kick in.

I don't think a site can ever be perfect and if you are detail oriented like it seems then I would just get it up and running, get some feedback on here or some other people and keep tweaking.

Notwithstanding what has already been posted, especially with regard to what you are promoting, I think that you shoud launch.

I am just like you, someone who wants perfection or a 'Rolls Royce' product or service. The end result is that my projects always run over time - and I probably lose money as a result.

"Publish and be damned" as the old saying goes.

I wish you the best of luck with your venture.

Ok so I'll assume that this is a normal niche marketing site based on the affiliate model.

In this case, you're just starting out, the goal is to build cashflow to invest in outsourcing. Until you get to that point, you will need to do it manually. Work at it and push through the self sabotage. Cause our minds usually like playing with us. And then, you'll be there.

Now, what type of work? When starting out 90% of your time should be spent on link building. You need to grind it out and do the old nasty stuff that pretty much no body likes. After you've reached a certain point, and have some money to spend you have some more options(link building wise) at your disposal. This applies also if you're an above average writer.

So the answer to this question is definitely get it out there as fast as possible.
