A Family Member Told Me That EZA Articles Were GARBAGE!

Hello guys, I am not trying to stir the pot here but I was talking to a family member of mine and they told me that they did not like or trust EZA. We got into the conversation because they were looking for an article about stopping a baby from crying. When I heard how they felt about EZA I wondered if this is the way most people are seeing EZA these days.

If this is the case do we need to start putting our articles on more credible sources? I ask this because if people do not trust EZA or see them as being tacky, then this has to effect the CTR of the articles. Does anyone else here know of anyone who thinks like this or is this an isolated case?

That person is entitled to his/her opinion.

And as far as I'm concerned, most EZA articles do have great information on a lot of topics. Notice that I said a lot of topics, not ALL topics. There's always a chance that a person looking for more info on a given topic will not find it on EZA. But there are plenty of other places to look for and find that information.

I don't think it would affect your CTR at all. The people who don't like EZA aren't surfing there and looking at your articles anyway. They obviously do get a ton of traffic still so there are plenty of people who do read them.

        Spill the niches Tina.

I'm guessing only the make money online/advertising/biz niches cos I've tried a heck of a lot of other niches on there and there is no such thing as people reading them.

In my opinion I have always thought EZA sucks and right now I have 2 articles waiting t be approved because I am back to test a light bulb moment.

I'm banking on it not working but here's to trying.

Pay attention to what Alexa is saying. I don't submit to EZA with the eye to getting traffic there. I submit quality content that I want to be syndicated across OTHER sites that do get traffic. Sure, you'll get some direct traffic through EZA if the article is written well enough and ranks high in the SERPs. But the real magic is when someone syndicates that article to a high traffic, high quality site. That is when you see the traffic and then it's almost always higher converting traffic.

I really don't think it matters what niche you write for. I could be wrong as I haven't tried ALL niches, obviously. But what I have there is quite a wide variety. The ones that get syndicated are the ones that get the most traffic. The ones that don't get syndicated, I consider duds, and I get some duds just like anyone else.

Stop using EZA for direct traffic and start writing articles that high quality sites will want to use. That is the key to using directories wisely, in my opinion.

I personally can't stand reading articles on eza. I find the site cluttered, the structure and formatting of the article difficult to focus on, and the placement of so much 'external chaos' distracting.

From a marketing POV, I would think that a 'non-marketer' would be annoyed that when they are looking for 'info' they are finding 'teasers' trying to entice them to buy a product.

I personally don't submit to article directories anymore. That being said, despite its faults and shortcomings, EZA is still the king of article directories. That's something you should keep in mind.

I've stopped virtually all article site submissions as well. There are more productive places to post your content and places where you can better promote your content.

YMMV, of course. Some people still do well with article directories. One or two of the students I mentor in IM are still sticking with article directories, though most have moved away from them.

Did the article advocate doing something potentially dangerous?

Ezines has more than 4.5 million articles in circulation...Based on just one article you can't conclude that they're all crappy.

At the same time...Can you really name another source where you will find great content everytime you look? If you were to see the first page of google for most terms.

Majority of the results are dominated by sites like ehow, wikihow, yahoo answers etc...And let me assure you...What they offer is way worse than ezines.

I agree with this. It is the sheer volume of content, propelled off of the collective search engine authority of the sites, that give their articles such a high ranking in Google. and....just because alot of other sites link to the content, doesn't mean that the content is quality....there is much need for improvement on the sites that you mentioned.

Would you expect to find an article - or a website- that could give you the 1,2,3 to stop crying babies? Of course not. It's not a question that can be answered in an article though you might find articles that list crying as a symptom.

If someone told me they couldn't find good info at EZA about dog flea meds, I'd wonder what was going on at EZA.

If they were looking for "why do I have spots on my arm" I'd wonder why they expected to find a definitive answer anywhere.

If I was looking for any kind of information related to my child, I would immediately dismiss anything from EZA. As a marketer, EZA is great. But I would never go there to actually learn anything or expect to get any useful information. There are much better, more reliable sources obviously.

There is alot of garbage on EZA, no doubt about it. However, they are the biggest article directory out there (certainly not the only one you should submit to, though). Don't let the junk affect you... just keep focusing on generating quality content, and always be on the lookout for better places to publish your stuff.

An opinion is still an opinion. You won't know if your efforts to EZA will work until you try and try for at least 2 months. This is what will determine those who say it works and those who don't.

    Just me two cents.

    Good luck!

Ironic that a family member said that to you. I wrote an article about how to stop a baby from crying. I am a certified school counselor with a master's degree and have 2 children of my own. Maybe I am not a professional writer but with my experience of writing hundreds of papers in grad school, I think I know how to write a decent article on Ezine.

I think about 99% of the articles there are garbage. They are simply a mix of other garbage you can find with Google and then arranged to create an "article." Very, very, very few of them are meaningful or present any new information. Sadly, these ****ty articles clog up Google and make finding real information that much more difficult.

I agree. Most articles over there are an incest-fest.

But most people who searches for info on Google won't go to EZA for info anyways.

Honestly, you could rephrase the statement you wrote to read like this...

*.* Told Me That *.* Were GARBAGE!
In IM, especially in forums, you are going to hear from some of the most opinionated individuals you may ever experience.

If they TRY article marketing and FAIL, their OPINION is article marketing is garbage.

If they try Social Bookmarking, Profiles, Automated Tools, EZA, Squidoo, Hub Pages, web directories, etc., and fail, in their world [their] OPINION is the Holy Grail and FINAL ANSWER on the subject.

Therefore, when they adamantly assert that [it] sucks, they will argue their OPINION until the cows start producing mint flavored chocolate milk while standing on their hind legs reading Danielle Steel Romance novels.

They are so absurd with their opinions that they will even attempt to draw people into their arguments who are doing the very thing they swear you will never make money with, cannot be done, is garbage and really sucks.

Which brings me to my next point...

Man who say it cannot be done should not interrupt man doing it. ~Chinese Proverb

The quicker you are able to do that, that quicker you'll start making headway in this business.

P.S. EZA is unbelievably awesome for those who know what the heck they are doing!
