Getting A Paypal Debit Card

I know for sometime that Paypal has a debit card which allows holders to withdraw cash from their Paypal accounts instantly, instead of having to wait almost a week. Trouble is, I can't seem to find the "Paypal Debit Card" option within my Paypal account. Is it for American users only? I tried contacting their support but I figure I would get better answers here

Thanks for your help!

    Hey There,

When you login into Paypal, look under the "products and services" tab. It should be listed on the left column "ways to get paid". I don't know if they do it outside of the US, but hopefully this helps you.

    Hi,

I was curious, so I called paypal and asked. There seems to be
some conflicting information considering one of the other replies.
I spoke to paypal customer service for international accts, and I
was told that the debit card is only available to US based accounts
that have a social security number. The person specifically stated
it's only for US based accounts. So if people in Europe have them,
I don't know what to say about it. But I just spoke to paypal on
    the phone.

Just trying to help you out.

    Ken

They're not available in the UK anymore - I only got mine 2 weeks ago but there's a message on the site saying they're no longer accepting new applications.

That would be a cool card to have! Shame if it's not available for European users. I'll check it out and get back....

It is available outside the US. It's been available in the UK for a couple of years.

To check whether you have access in your country, look under the "Products And Services" tab in your account.

But don't search for the term "Debit Card". PayPal call it a "Top Up Card" - it's essentially the same thing.

Thanks, Frank, I was pretty sure it was available outside the US. So perhaps
the person I spoke to was misinformed? I even repeated back what was said,
        and the person confirmed it.

        Whatever... that's interesting.

There is an 800 number on their contact page, so maybe people should get
it from them, personally. But if you get the same person I talked to... good luck.

          No worries, Ken.

A lot of users in the UK are still unaware that they can get one - PayPal don't exactly advertise it extensively.

There are one or two niggles. For example, transfer of funds isn't immediate - it's usually the next day. And there's still a daily and monthly limit on how much you can transfer. But, overall, it's a useful facility.

The restrictions to make it available in the USA, is a test and was put there for legal purposes.

Depending on how the experience and track record from the test, there will probably open it up in Europe next yes they are set up legally with representation to do so.

    Cheers ... Ron

Ok I am still confused. Some warriors here say they do have it outside US, and some say not. But I guess it is not available in Singapore. Thanks for your replies though!

Existing card holders can continue to use their cards. Here's some text cut and paste directly from Paypal:

        new cards no longer available

Thanks for your interest in the PayPal Top Up Card. Unfortunately we're no longer accepting new applications, however you can still take advantage of exclusive offers when you shop with your PayPal account at the PayPal Offers site

Yeah, I just checked too, after reading Hamida's post. How peculiar.

I wonder whether this is a permanent policy change and what will happen to those current users when their cards reach their expiry date.

Yes, I have had a similar experience in Canada. I have owned a PayPal debit card for 3 or 4 years I think, but when I asked them for another one for another account I am involved in they said they no longer do it for Canadians. This in spite of the fact my current card is still valid and well used.

    Dear Fellas,

I am pretty happy that I use my PayPal with the Credit Card offered by the Bank.

This service is quite interesting but i dn't have a lot of time to describe here all the funny occurrences.

Is it a restriction on other users except US ones that they get a PayPal Debit Card to with draw money from their account instantaneously.

LoL, If I were to help such countrymen's then I will definitely gave them Debit Card via PayPal.

I think they should bring it back to Canada. I could use one of those cards, its a pain doing transfers. Then I guess, we're not as bad as India, who just got limited to check based withdraw only

Please re-read the thread, before posting. It's not available in Canada. Or.. Do you have some inside information we don't know?
