Newb stuck at the INFORMATION OVERLOAD stage!

Hey guys, i'm a newb here and i wish i had found this forum a long time ago...

I'm one of your typical newbs, i started out buying an ebooks package on eBay hoping to resell on eBay. At £0.99 once a week with too many listings with no sales canceling out the £0.99 made, i soon discovered it's pointless. Next up i bought a "Resell rights Ultimate Package" which has everything you can think of in terms of ebooks, software, +1000 turnkey websites, +70 "hot" how to video courses, 112 niche ebooks, actionpro graphics, +80 flash websites, +50 unique fantasy images and much more".

I thought that's it, paid about £125 for the whole lot +70gb of zipped files to resell on ebay. Whilst waiting for my Disc package i signed up to a "how to make money online monthly membership course" and put some of those things in action...I bought a Domain, Website hosting package and a £60 membership script licence. I'm still in the process of designing it.

My Ultimate package disc arrived and well i've just about finished going through everything on the discs (taken me a week). I decided to sell the +1000 turnkey package online first and well it's also only making as much progress as my first ebook ebay venture...

Bear with me here, the point i'm trying to make to other Newbs is coming soon...

So i decided to turn to setting up a website and earning money from Adsense + Clickbank + Amazon. I didn't really know how to do all that so i bought one of those ready made sites from ebay with a really good DomainName. I introduced a forum to it and now i'm onto getting it ranked in Google...which has oppened up a whole new world to me about SEO tactics, PPC etc. (More learning...)

I've now ended up here at Warrior Forum and last night purchased the Outsourcing your work manual which i'm yet to read. It'll definitely come in handy one day.

Keep in mind i'm yet to make more than a fiver online since i started in January but i've easily spent over £300.

The most frustrating point is, i'm now addicted to reading Warrior forum posts and i'm coming across posts that would have helped me before i started my first venture...I'm now considering purchasing access to the War Room because of all the helpful information on here.

Sorry i know it's a long post but i don't want any more Newbs to make the mistakes i have and spend money buying stuff and then not using it because the NEXT BIG THING comes along and grabs your attention and more money.

Don't get caught in the INFORMATION OVERLOAD stage!!!(I'm probably the last person to be saying this...)

Hope Newbs find my post helpful...

    Welcome to WF Wendz.

You might want to hold off buying anything else until you start seeing some money coming in. And that includes outsourcing.

You'll find pretty much just about anything and everything you need to know here on the forum. With your track record, it might be better to give the WSO forum a miss for a while. Stick with one thing at a time and it'll help your brain and your wallet. :p

Buying a lot of stuff from the get-go usually doesn't work. Admittedly, it's too easy to feel tempted by this and that. Doing this has led me astray many times.

I'll only buy something if I feel that it's directly related to what I'm already doing and offers information that I don't already know or have. Period. That way, I don't lose my focus or try to run in many directions at once.

    Hi Wendz09,

I have kind of a different view then most people because I actually think that buying stuff (some stuff) does help especially if you learn something. The real problem comes when you just keep buying stuff and never take action.

It sound like you don't have a problem taking action though so that's a good thing! There's a lot of stuff to learn at first so don't feel bad if it is taking you a while to get up and running. Sounds like you are doing pretty good - it's a big learning curve at first but once you have all that stuff under your belt it gets easier.

A membership to the war room would be a great investment.

Yes the War Room is a fantastic resource. It too though can curb your enthusiasm and stop you in your tracks as far as progress.

This is a tough part of internet marketing that even the big guys sit and endlessly ponder, go watch this video....twice.

      Seriously, watch it.

That first hump to get over is actually the biggest most intense part of your success and you will always look back on that small little goal which you can identify, I have mine, Frank Kern talks about his, so does John Reese and surprisingly...it's not their huge multi-million dollar days it was when the switch got flipped in their head and they KNEW not thought or hoped they KNEW they could do it!

I hope you will watch this video and associate that exact spot you are in with how we all were there and although it sucks, you too can overcome.

      To your success!

Don't buy anything else......develop a skill and then sell it. This will give you income. Then......

    1. Develop or buy a product that answers a key question or satisfies a demand..

    2. Set up a squeezepage which is designed to convert visitors to sales

    3. Drive visitors to your sqeezepage - paid, organic, backlinks, articles, they all have their place.

    4. Set up auto download so purchasers get their good immediately

Thats it.....easier said than done but its just 4 SIMPLE STEPS.....

You have the classic symptoms of analysis paralysis my friend!

Everyone has to go through it. It is your right to passage. Look at it this way -

Look how children grow up and learn about the world, how often do you here parents saying "don't do that!" The parents know that there is danger or undesirable consequences resulting in their actions but the children don't.

We have an unstoppable desire to find things out for our selves even if everyone is telling us otherwise.

The parent can tell the child endless times to not eat the dubious looking object they've just found in the bin, but it is only when the kid has put it in his mouth and screwed his face up with disgust that they learn for themselves that such activities are to be avoided.

They repeat these learning experiences until they are 'educated'. You have to make these mistakes and educate yourself. Only then will you have the perspective to know you are doing the correct thing.

There is another way to fast track your education. As with anything in this world, if you want to know how to do something well then copy those that do it the best.

The war room has some very valuable information in it. The stuff that Allen writes is what you need to read if you really want to know the truth about marketing. There's not much in the way of step-by-step systems, but the underlying principles are there for you to build on.

But you also need to have the faith to believe that this is the truth if you want to use it before you have discovered the truth yourself.

The hardest aspect of IM is learning to deal with your emotions, doubts, fears etc. We can all get our heads down and work hard, that's easy. But working day and night on something that you don't believe in, is almost impossible.

Just give yourself a time limit of say 18 months and an education budget of a few hundred dollars. Accept you are going to loose the money and be patient.

I would say, join the war room, read the WSO's, read this forum. Put yourself through the rinser and learn what your skills are as an individual. When you have identified what you are good at, reverse engineer things to leverage your skills.

For instance, I have learnt that I have better skills in writing and mathematical analysis, so I am trying to capitalise on this and create systems where I use testing and tracking to improve my sales copy.

I learnt from a very early point that i don't have a lot of patience for things like building back-links. so therefore I shy away from things related to SEO and organic rankings.

Above all, just relax, enjoy your 'education', learn about yourself and try not to get too frustrated. Give it time and the clouds will part to reveal the light to show you the path you need to take.

Its a problem most newb face. It takes time to master each method which becomes a building block for the next stage. The most important thing is to take action and see that whatever method you chose is doable and you know how to do it in reality.
IM is far from being a get rich quick scheme-it takes time and knowledge.
Following one or two "gurus" you select after analysis is a less overwhelming way of doing it.

I absolutely agree with Dany...find someone you trust that is actually successful in what you want to accomplish and follow what they teach. It will really cut down on the overload.

Shut out all the other noise...and just focus on one thing at a time.

When I first got started I was easily distracted by the "shiny" things so in order for me to succeed I had to unsubscribe from a lot of email lists...

There is one quote that really stuck with me. I have it printed out and taped to my desk because it keeps me focused.

"All it takes to succeed in affiliate marketing is 3-4 pages that google will rank in the first or second spot...for buying keywords...that bring in 2 to 3 sales a day"

That's it...that's all I work on...sometimes those pages are on my own site...sometimes they are on sites I don't own...

I pick a keyword...and don't look up until I have a page ranking well in Google...have it tweaked to convert...

    Rinse and repeat

    Firstly welcome!

Everything (and I mean everything) you need to know about IM are contained within these walls and in clear sight. This forum is worth more than any e-book or WSO could be.

There are some WSO's that will surely help you succeed but the majority of information you need is in the forum... find your strength or a method that interests you and read until you know how to apply it.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO TAKE ACTION!!!!! Do not worry if you do things incorrectly, the best learning experiences come from taking action and learning from mistakes. It ultimately leads to making you money.

    Good luck.

    Hi Wendz,
I took a slightly different approach. I paid out my $3000 to join a reputable online business. I haven't looked back since because I get great value from all the coaching and mentoring and I am now earning a very good income online and teaching people how to do the same.

    All the best

    Hi Wendz,

£300 since Jan. I bet there is far more people spent way way more money trying to find a solution. I my self is one of them. This is a great community to be part of and you can find the answer to many problems you have.

I would recommend to become a War Room member. You need to decide on what you want to do. Selling products services affiliate marketing. Don't try and do everything all at once. Once you have decided on the path you are taking, make a plan of action what you are going to do and how to achieve your goals.

Good luck with your venture and welcome to the WF

Thanks everyone for your welcome messages and for the valuable advice you've all given.

Sitefurnace thanks for the informative post on Analysis Paralysis, i found that particulary helpful and encouraging.

ChristopherNV "Recycling of the Force" was an interesting read too so thanks for sharing. It's given me a few ideas on what to do with the stuff from my discs that i purchased.

Mark i had a look at your site and well done on your achievements so far, if i had the money i would jump onboard as you've achieved something i want to achieve here in the UK too.

Thanks again to everyone, it's really encouraging to know that people have been through and are going through this stage i'm in right now.

Check the website you bought has unique content (go to www.copyscape.com). Usually pre-built sites use PLR which is hard to rank. You may need to re-write some of the content if you plan on getting traffic from SEO.

GuerillaIM, thanks for alerting me to that. I just checked and my articles on my site have an average of about 10% (100 words) copied word for word from other sources. Do you know if this legal?

It depends on the context. If the owner of the information sees something copied word for word and didn't give permission and isn't being credited he may send a letter to your webhost. He may not. If it isn't a whole page copied word for word then it is unlikely to raise any red flags.

If you click the compare text button you can see the exact text that has been copied. This might shed some light on it.

When buying sites it is always important to verify if the content is unique, and if its not, exactly where it came from and what rights the seller has to it.

I think that all you've been through is pretty common for all of us. I went through the same thing. My two cents: in the start (maybe forever) stay away from PPC. It's too hard to learn and it's expensive. You can get traffic for free so while you're learning stay with the free methods.

Also, instead of using the hodge podge method to get your knowledge and finding a little here and a little there and then trying to figure out how it all goes together, invest in a course that can teach the basics and more importantly, how to actually put it together to make money.

Last, but not least, never stop learning. There are always new things online that you can learn. The more you learn, the more you can earn!

Im with ya on this, I have also gone through many things such as the ebay e-books, even did the e-commerce thing and lost thousands. Jumped right into light bulk purchasing from China (womens clothes). Then moved into forex did that for about 2 years, now getting into IM. Hint dont get caught up in buying wso after wso (very easy to do). They say pick one technique and stick with it but it is easy to buy wso after wso trying to find that one thing and everyone says make thousands daily with this technique so you buy that one and dont like something about it so you see the same thing with another technique and buy it not to mention they all something new and autopilot.. I even spent a little over $500 on one wso I think it was like $539.. I dont even want to know how much I have spent even just here on warrior...I decided cpa is good and I have gotten into a couple of cpa networks..

              Hi Wendz09

I can certainly relate to what you've said! I am so glad I finally found this forum as it has helped me more than probably anything I've purchased!

I always check in here for reviews and such before I buy anything anymore. Now I try to limit my purchases to tools that will help me in my business (plugins, themes, etc.). Or things that are geared toward a particular problem I'm having -- article marketing or driving traffic, etc.

It is so easy to get caught up in the promises of the sales letters when you're just starting out. My biggest problem was just not following through to completion. I started following one method, did the research, got the site up but then I would fail to work through the necessary steps for getting traffic.

I got pretty good at research and site building but not at money making!

Finally I settled down and started working through the entire process. When I finally started seeing some success I gained the confidence I was lacking before.

I think too many newbs try to start out in the "make money" niche and, at least for me, I just couldn't write about making money when I hadn't made any! Why should anyone listen to me?

I went into other niches, ones that I had much more expertise in, and once I started making money there I felt more confident trying to tell others how I actually made money online.

Lastly, I vowed to never give up! (Even thought I felt like it many, many times!)

I hope anyone who truly wants to make money online will follow their dreams.

Hi Wendz, sounds like you live in the UK (hint: Pound sign) well my case is opposite comparing to you, let me share my little journey with you:

I'm from Bangladesh, a small country next to India where we are in the stone ages and no light of the internet marketing and e-commerce. When I learned about IM, I wanted to make money but I had no money (and no way to spend online) to learn or start websites. Ohh well, I registered free websites, and started to write a blog.

I took all those free resources to help improve my blogging and get traffic. I was making money using paid reviews. I used the online money to buy domains and web hosting.

After a year I started to work as a freelance web designers.. Not to mention, I started to sell the knowledge which I learned for free to the other people. After a couple of months I started my very own web design company.

Now days I started a new service and I help business owners from around the world to market online. Here I am, 3 years and no money spent from my pocket. I invested the money that I earned online.

I'm not saying that you should not spend money, if you have it, it's even better! To your success! And if I can do these things living on a 3rd world country, so anyone can, I challenge!
