How to be successful as an IM in 90 days?

I wanted to ask a question to all you warriors (newbies and veterans alike)...

If you were going to start all over from scratch and you had 90 days to earn a sustainable income and quit your day job: What would your action plan be? List building? Get a niche site and do SEO?

So take this example: Joe earns roughly $80k a year and for arguments sake lets say that's as much or more as the average guy. He knows he's going to lose his job in 90 days. He figures he needs to earn roughly $200 per day to replace his income. You're going to coach him in Internet Marketing because he's your friend. What would your action plan be for him? (Day 1, month 1, month 2, 3, etc.)

I'd love to see everyone's thoughts and inputs and think this could be a great thread for newbies...because I know a lot of your are doing or have done this!

Thanks in advance!

    to earn a sustainable income
It depends on your definition of what a
    sustainable income is.

A tramp would love to make $5 a day and would they would see that as a
    sustainable income.

Where as a advanced marketer would find a
sustainable income as $100-$200 a day.

However it can be done if you have the right strategy.

-Do some research for a profitable niche,
-do some keyword research to see which ones convert
-drive some traffic using PPC, article marketing, video marketing, blogging, ebook distribution, podcastes.
-Direct this traffic to your landing page or squeeze page, and convert that targetted traffic into sales.

Yes my question was more related to trying to succeed as and advanced marketer in 90 days. Though at least a tramp can eat, right??

So your action plan would be:
      1. Research
      2. Make/Create Landing page (for a List?)
      3. Drive traffic using the above methods...

Thanks for the good tips and faith that it can be done in 90 days

Day 1: Make a plan, organise everything, and distribute flyers (maybe outsourcing) with CPA or other Affiliate offers. If there is something working quite good, expand on this offer.

Sell Online Business to Offline Businesses and get take monthly payments from these companies. You can find these clients everywhere in the world.

Next thing I would set up is a profitable Landing Page. Drive traffic through PPC networks, presell the visitor and take the Affiliate commission from the sale.

Then invest the money, expand, try other systems/methods and move on.

I would agree. There are many different types of people, various ages and international economies to consider before putting a number to 'quitting my day job'.

For me I would need to be able to completely replace my current job income of $5,000/mo before taxes. Since self employment taxes and health care can cost even more... make it $6,000/mo I need to replace before quitting my 'day job'.

I would be looking at a $200/day minimum to try and go full time. However, if I continue to work my hum drum 40hr work week at my 'job' and have a $30/day supplemental income I would be REAL HAPPY!

Exactly, my idea behind the thread was getting to that ~$200/day income. I probably should have clarified that.

While there are certainly folks from all walks of life, $200/day covers a large percentage of the average middle class right?

I think you cannot make a sustainable income rapidly in internet. Many wealthy internet marketers now don't just quit on their regular jobs instantly, they do some research first and start little, and as their income in the internet goes bigger that is just the time they choose to leave their regular jobs to focus on their online work.

True. That would be crazy to just quit. I wonder if that time frame of working the day job and doing internet marketing at night could be limited to 90 days. What would that action plan look like?

I would suggest that it's a bad idea to expect a full time income in 3 months going from newbie to pro is not as simple as people think.

If he was my friend I'd tell him to get real - IM is not a lottery ticket or an easy option and most people do not make full-time constant income within 3 months so expecting it is unrealistic.

Sure - it's possible and if he was my best friend I'd probably spend my time making sure it happened for him - but it's not realistic to expect someone new can do this on their own.

        Hehe - no problem.

There's enough BS around already so I think it's a nice change to just tell the truth and not get into the mutual back-patting club that people often like in order to feel good about doing stuff that isn't working.

It always amazes me how many people think they're taking their IM seriously but won't allow themselves to ask real questions about why they're not getting the results they expected.

It's common to people to bury their head in the sand and go looking for any information that re-enforces their false expectations.

So if even one person stops and thinks twice about what they're doing and improves their approach - I'm happy.

A good friend would advise him he is not going to replace an $80,000 a year income in 90 days - no way. He can get started and have some undetermined amount coming in as little as 90 days, yes. But a steady $200 a day? ....not likely.
