INTERNET MARKETING

Someone here said that Wordpress would go the way of Betamax. I suspect that wordpress themes and wordpress theme creation as we know it, as well as theme clubs will eventually go the way of betamax and 8-tracks. More and more desktop applications like a couple already on the market will allow for versatile WYSIWYG wordpress theme generation (and even do so with clean coherent code for anyone who wants to tweak it). They'll probably even allow for incorporating popular plugins into them.

I think that with the new 3.0 version wordpress has secured its future for the time being. This is because it is finally easy to use and set up. (A claim falsely made with earlier incarnations IMHO).

Previously it took many special tweaks and tips to make it work well. Now you can have a workable version "out of the box"

I don't think Wordpress will go away, but I do suspect that theme clubs will eventually go the way of the horse and buggy (sooner than later, I'll bet).

The future of Wordpress is? Don't know, may be full of some more eyecandy?. I never said I like Wordpress. And I actually don't....

There will start to be more auto updaters like windows. I think wordpress is here to stay for a long while. But their technologies are becoming much easier to duplicate, and that could prove fatal down the road, but not anytime soon.

I don't think Wordpress would gone that way. The company knows how to secure their future by creating new version and innovation in the way of blogging.

The future of wordpress it will be ok.
They will going to do more updates, so that is ok for everyone who it's using their services because they will improve the script with more features, stronger security and better code.
Personal, i think it will evolve into a CMS framework. Probably powering majority of the sites on the internet.

I've been using Wordpress for years and honestly I think it's here to stay, at least for many years to come. Look at all the people who still have trouble building sites, with Wordpress it's practically handed to them. Complete themes, plugins, heck even complete SEO plugins so we no longer have to do all of the tedious onsite optimization.

As for security wise, Wordpress seems to send out updates often enough. I definitely feel safe with my sites, I don't see what would be better. Unless I'm missing something?

And even if so... what does all that have to do with the "future" of WP?
The WP engine and the themes have never been developed by the same people.

I was 'creating' WP themes since 2005 (and using WP since 2004) and all what you say simply doesn't make sense. Sorry.

I mean idiot proof applications for non-coders will come along and allow anyone to create WP themes that do anything they please. Drag and drop Wordpress theme creation.

Are you tone deaf? Can't sing? Get Auto Tune, know what I mean.

Things come and go, its just the nature of the internet

All scripts start out good, but are slowly replaced. I suspect that wordpress will be the "in" thing for the next couple of years. But sooner or later something else will come along.

WP seems pretty easy, especially compared to Drupal or Joombla. (the only other CMSs I have used.)

Hard to see it going away. Especially as licensed.

  Wordpress is easy, even when it comes to adding code here and there, creating page templates, etc etc. I've been able to get it to do just about anything I wanted it to do. Wp is is even easier now than it was before. WP 3 menus, get out of here. And it will become easier and easier still.

  WordPress 3.0 was downloaded over 11 million times. and WordPress 3.0.1 was just released a couple of days ago and addressed over 50 issues, making it run even better.

Wordpress has a great future. It has excellent platform for creating blogs and even good looking websites too. The most beautiful thing in that is that it is totally free and supports lot of plugin and widgets , themes and more.It is growing rapidly and it will make lot of success.

  I switched my blog from Blogger to Wordpress because it apparently ranks better than Blogger but I find that it's hard to use right out of the box in terms of formatting.
  I had a lot of issues with wrapping text around images and still don't know how to simply have the right font selected when uploading a new post.
  
  It seems like you always have to fiddle with CSS and install all kinds of plugins to have it just right but I guess that's also the beauty of it, it makes for a very flexible platform.
