26,000 Download Requests For This One Article - Crazy

Looking at an article on goarticles.com that was written toward the ending of August.

There is nothing special about the article from what I can tell.

But it has over 16,000 votes and has been requested over 23,000 times. Now that's crazy for being 2 months old.

The article is at:
http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=595417

How'd he do that?

Wish I knew the answer to that one. If you ever find out, or anyone else finds out please let me know. Provided the method is legal, I'd give it a shot. Have to say though, I doubt the author is using legal tactics. That is an incredible unbelievable etc. etc. amount of votes and requests. Not being mathmatically minded, I cannot even fathom how many of each that is a day.

Probably a simple piece of software or a bot, the same kind that spider your own web pages to social bookmark.

        Is that legal?

It's usually against TOS, but illegal- probably not.

That's what I was thinking but you've got to wonder why he's not
doing it with his other articles.

I've seen some other articles with similar results but with those
authors also it's not happening with their other articles.

    He gamed goarticles somehow.

There is no way you get 16,000 votes out of a total 23,000 views. Getting 1 vote per 1,000 views (23 total for this article) would still be on the high side.

The stats there may be legal but I think that it may be a mistake.

It is probable a software thing.

I know what a spider is - or rather what it does - but wonder if it is legal to do what he is doing. Wouldn't mind those stats though but want to do everything legally and fairly!

It got him onto page 3 of Google for "Puerto Vallarta" out of 10,600,000 competing sites for exact phrase.

    Not too bad!

Looking at those huge paragraphs, I would never read the article let alone vote for it. As previously mentioned, I think it's software.

There is software to create fake comments and votes for YouTube videos. Just about any site can be gamed if you know some programming.

This had to be a software thing...
No way that you could get so many votes in such a short span given the quality and layout of that article.

Gives his article a nice prominent link on their PR6 home page.

I would never let that happen. He'd be quick history.
