Incentives for community marketing

I've been musing on this idea for the last few hours.

Have you ever tried using incentives to get your customers to market your product?

For example, asking them to share their experience with your product on YouTube in return for something?

Is that pushing the FTC rules on 'testimonials'?

Just wondering.

Yea we ran a comments thing awhile back. It was to build community, we have a list of about 20k and we told them that if they commented on our blog and let us know what they thought they would go in the draw to win a prize.

We got a bit of viral traffic from it but mostly we noticed that once we had ran that competition people stayed prety talkative on the blog for awhile after which was great.

I'd suggest Traffic-Zombie by Mike Filsaime I think! Best software I've found that helps others market for you while they get something in return...

    Thanks for the input guys.

I'll give an example to show precisely what I'm thinking.

Say you have a course on SEO that guarantees results in 12 weeks. You sell it for $47.

When someone purchases the book, they receive an email telling them that they can get their $47 back if they do one video every two weeks on YouTube, chronicling how the strategies are working for them.

After 12 weeks and 6 videos, they can email you and apply for the $47.

    Thoughts?

  • Melanie, I do realize that you're looking for an auto-pilot system to do what you describe, but worth mentioning....
    1. You can find people thru the JV section of WF who will do what you need.
    2. You can search for busy, targeted YT channels, vlogs, and blogs, then contact each owner directly with a copy/paste of your offer.

And while they are manual, both methods described above are in many ways better than autopilot systems, because (a) with auto-pilot systems most of the posts you'll get will be on YT channels, blogs and vlogs with virtually zero traffic, while on the other hand the YT and blog owners you contact manually will have BIG traffic; and (b) with auto-pilot systems, people could remove their blog/vlog entry immediately after the system verifies their entry and gives them their freebie.
