Hey Warriors.

Can anyone explain to me why all of a sudden I am "following"
hundreds of people on twitter when I DID NOT actually
"follow" them?

This is getting ridiculous!

Thanks for any help.

  • 1) there was this twitter bug that made it possible for others to force you to follow them. twitter was said to fix this, so don't know if this is the case
    2) you don't by any chance have set yourself some sort of "auto-follow" system? there's some of those lying here and there in the net
  • Is there an "auto follow" feature on Twitter? I never saw one...LOL

This is very annoying... And when I went in a blocked them... My
    actual "followers" number went done!

    Crazy...

  • Just checked my twitter account again... Now I am

  • Write an ebook ... How to follow 1000 random people a day on Twitter on AutoPilot ...
  • Funny guy...
  • Now I am "following" over 300 idiots in my Twitter account that I never
    authorized to follow...

    !!%#!!!!
  • The simplest explanation is just that some spammer has hijacked your account. Have you tried just resetting your password? Other than that... You didn't click on any of those 'How to get thousands of followers in 3 days' programs, did you?

I had a couple problems with spam messages being posted on my account. I finally figured out one of the client programs which I gave access to my twitter account probably had a security hole. Problem was I didn't know WHICH one. I ended up unsubscribing to all of them. Now if I want to use one I give it access only to do what I want to do and then revoke it.
  • It could be a spammer hijack but with over 350 people that I am now
supposedly "following" I doubt it's one person.

I used socialoomph... could that have done it?

It's getting worse and I've already closed down one account!

    Thanks,
    G
  • Sign in to your Twitter account and then click Settings>Connections. This will list all of the apps you've allowed to access your Twitter account. If there are any questionable accounts there you can take away their access to your Twitter account here. If you're unsure, try methodically going through and disabling until you find the problem child.

    Hope that helps!
