What challenges do You face as an Internet Marketer?

Hey guys. I'll be brutally honest here:

I'm doing some niche research to develop a new info product.

But unlike the previous ones I've written that were just useful methods, I want
to force myself to create a product that actually answers people's questions
and helps them with the things that are actually a problem for them.

So I was wondering if you guys could help me out (and in turn help each other as well).

Basically, I would really appreciate if you guys could list or write about
challenges you face when it comes to internet marketing. It could also be obstacles
or hurdles you had to get over in the past to become more successful.

It could be in a particular niche (and please state) Adsense, SEO, affiliate marketing, PPC or whatever.

Or it could be just general things like not having enough time, information overload, etc.

Whatever frustrates you about making a buck online, I would really like to hear it - if you don't mind of course.

Something that always bothered me were courses that weren't really step by step. They just gave you tons of decent info, but no direction. And that's why I made my own.

But what about you guys?

Thanks,
Coty

Besides all of things you have to manage it like a business.
If it's your full time income be careful to not get too over extended when your doing well because when the tough time come you may not be able to keep up with the bills.

Another challege is working alone, sometimes you feel like your in the dark.

I would say the most challenging thing is staying focused before you're actually making any money. I have given up on a lot of ideas in the past because I just didn't stick with it long enough.

Once you start seeing profits though, it's easy to get into it and expand

The biggest success I've ever had, I nearly sold for $1000 on sitepoint...3 years later, I sold it for $800,000.

    Hi,

Some of the challenges people face in their I.M. journey -

    Being a one man band

    Too many shiney objects/distractions

Lack of focus on one thing to see it to completion

    Information overload

Getting snipets of information, and not the full picture

Buying the next big thing thats going to make you money online and solve all your money problems...

  • @coolmoss - Good list. That's another thing that I always see happen - too many shiny objects and going after "the next Big thing". Thanks for that!

Hi Guys. Since I'm new at marketing I have some challenges that slow me down. One is lack of knowledge for basic tasks - such as buying domains, hosting, and other basics such as htmls and putting my link on a site. Information overload is also a challenge - so much so little time to try it all. The biggest challenge has got to be the word "easy" and no step by step just great info and I have no clue what to do with it. I hope this helps some. I have written articles about my mistakes and challenges. If you are interested in reading them they may help. Let me know and I will direct you to them. (no spam). I just like to write.

Some of the Internet Marketers meet the thinking " I can't do that, is too hard for me!". This attack almost every Internet Marketer. It's like a virus!

Another challenge I'd like to add is distinguishing between what REALLY can make you money versus what's all hype. That can be tough, even for the most experienced marketer/webmaster.

  • @maryjohold: Good point about the word "easy". It's such a relative term that could mean anything to anyone. What is easy for me, may be extremely difficult or frustrating for a beginner.

@tehnolife: I know I struggled with that thinking. "I'll never make $100 a day.""I'll never make $1000 a week." And I have. It definitely can be done!

@Publisher Point: Ya hype is definitely a big issue with online stuff. Everything sounds good in theory, but definitely isn't the truth.

The challenge I face as an internet marketer is getting the traffic I need in sufficient quantities so that I can do the testing on my site that needs to be done.

    The changes.

The challenge for me is that I like things simple, and it's easy
to get caught up in the latest newest method (offline hype
    being one example).

It's also about having a mind of your own and not being swayed
to do one thing when you've already started or planned on another.

Again, one method can be good for 3 - 6 months. In a blink of an
eye it can be made obsolete for no other reason than the fact that
the internet is like a living, breathing organism.

Truth be told, I make far more money doing business offline (Real
Estate Investments, Direct Mail, Etc.) than I do online. The quick
changes just isn't for me. Although, that doesn't make it bad...it
just doesn't fit my personality and my love for slower paced invest-
    ments.
