Why You Should Not Submit To Ezine Articles Only.

I have been closely watching the traffic trends of Ezine articles for the past Few Months. They have dropped from 13M visitors to 10M within 9 months.

Site Profile for ezinearticles.com (rank #89) | Compete

It makes me wonder as more than half of their traffic consists of authors who submit articles.

Good news is articlesbase(My fav) has a traffic increase most of them organic traffic.

So it would be a better option for all of us to submit articles to different article directories rather than ezine articles.

  • Even though I don't personally use them, in all fairness, I do believe they have been performing a bit of a self-imposed 'gutting' of some of their garbage content. Theoretically, the decline in traffic 'could' just be brief, as a result of gutting out garbage content. As a result, Google 'could' look upon them more highly, and 'award' them accordingly, in a manner that could ultimately make up for that lost traffic.
  • I believe it would be their editorial guideline.A article from a Basic author would get a week to get published.
  • Isn't articlesbase nofollow?

    • Yes, they're nofollow. But if our articles get rank on Google first page, it doesn't matter. We're after the Google ranking, not the link juice. Hope this helps ;-)
  • Yea articlesbase is ranking much higher than ezine these days. I also noticed that the articles I post to articlesnatch out rank the one I post to ezine. So you can check them out as well.
  • I agree that it is more of a commentary on the eradication of junk articles on EZA's part. I do however think Article Base is running neck and neck with EZA. The problem I have with Articlebase is the layout of the article section.

    • I have read so many times that EZA is the way to go, I'm glad I have found here good reasons, and more importantly actual statistics, as to why it's good to consider alternatives to EZA.

Now, I wonder : where do you get those statistics ?

Update : I was in too much of a hurry, I hadn't noticed you had given the links to stat-analytics.
  • EZine is still at or near the top of the list of best article directories, and they require you to submit to them first. iSnare is a distribution service that every article marketer should consider.

    • That is not true.
    • This is not the case. If you have published the same, or substantially similar, article elsewhere they try to determine whether it is yours or not - if they can't they reject it. All you need to do is put your author name on it and all will be OK.

  • EZA is the biggest, but it is certainly not the end-all-be-all that some people make them out to be. I've found success with Go Articles, Articles Base, Amazines, Idea Marketers, and Article Snatch. Plus, I love American Chronicle. I've gotten some good results from them, and it's more "high class" than the stereotypical article directories. At American Chronicle, you have to be accepted as a writer, and it takes 2-3 days to get articles approved, but it is well worth it.

The key is - you need to be well-rounded in your article marketing. Just submitting to 1 place is not going to be enough. You have to find places that work for you, and you have to consistently publish unique, quality content.
  • I would be more interested to know if ArticleBase's articles do rank in Google or not. I did a quick check for some articles with long tail keywords but apparantly they dont seem to rank in the top10 at least for the keywords I checked. Do anyone has checked that too?

  • Thanks. I needed to know this.
  • As far as ranking goes, yes EZA has slipped recently. But, if your looking for instant traffic then EZA is still the only real choice!

    • Nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone who has done well with article marketing would never say that EZA is the only "real choice". If one has a comprehensive content marketing strategy they wouldn't just submit to article directories. Especially not just one.

      We submit to:

PromoteMyArticles.com (CTRs are insane because they aren't any ads - totally worth the low monthly fee)
      IdeaMarketers.com
      Articlebase.com
      SelfGrowth.com (for certain niches)
      Buzzle.com
      AssociatedContent.com
      GoArticles.com

      To name a few.

If you can combine article submissions with press releases and video submissions (using TubeMogul, Videobot, etc.). You'd amazed yourself at how much traffic you will get in a 3 to 4 month period if you do your keyword research and remain consistent.

  • In my case, regardless of the page rank, when I submit fresh articles to Ezine I can get sales compared to submitting articles to Articlebase (without Ezine submission for a certain period).

    • Not as high as you think..

I got 80+ crappy written and spun articles on there.

  • I like Articlesbase because they rank just as high if not higher than EZA and the approval time of articles it's way quicker! - There's also less guidlines / regulations!

The reality is that if you really want more traffic and search engine/niche domination then you need to be submitting unique articles to all the different directories :-)

  • Ezine is getting lower rank because they don't want to accept new articles this is why they just ignore articles or mention surprising issues in your articles . ( its my experience). so mostly people are going on Articlebase
    • [1] reply
    • I am not sure I understand this statement that EZA does not want to accept new articles. I have submitted 95 articles in the past two months fulfilling my personal goal to compete in their 100 article competition and everyone of them has been accepted and strangely enough some are approved in minutes.

  • Agree ! That is why we should submit to various article directories as possible.
However, submission to Ezinearticle is a must, as it really can draw in traffic, maybe not to your expectation.
  • yes I think EA is going in decline because of there waiting time and strict rules. However if you are looking for link juice , then I think it remains no.1 because it is Dofollow unlike articlesbase.
    • [1] reply
    • Well, why would someone put all the eggs in one basket? Since you don't need unique content for most of the article directories, just choose like 5 and submit to them - one of them should bring the desired results.

  • Yes, you are correct. We should depend not only on Ezinearticles but also other article directories such as Ideamarketers.
