Questions about emails received in the SPAM folder of gmail

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about how you deal with the SPAM folder in gmail.

1) When an email gets there, has it been automatically reported as spam to any authority out there ?

2) If I receive a legitimate email in there, but when I open it, I see the "red bar" saying it is risky to open any link in that email, should I simply ignore the email, even though I know where it comes from ?

3) If I want to unsubscribe, is it ok to try when there's an identifable link to do so, or should I simply ignore it ? I know I will keep receiving emails from that person for some time.

4) Do you ever un-spam an email ?

5) Do you try to figure out why an email went there ?

Thanks for your feedback.

The following are just pure guesses and impressions on my part. I don't have a way to know how Google screens email... but....

    1) When an email gets there, has it been automatically reported as spam to any authority out there ?

I don't think so. Some email from the most trusted companies end up there.

    2) If I receive a legitimate email in there, but when I open it, I see the "red bar" saying it is risky to open any link in that email, should I simply ignore the email, even though I know where it comes from ?

I have with no problems, but I do have a good virus protection.

    3) If I want to unsubscribe, is it ok to try when there's an identifable link to do so, or should I simply ignore it ? I know I will keep receiving emails from that person for some time.

I think it's only right to unsubscribe. It helps the marketer know who and who is not on their list for one thing.

    4) Do you ever un-spam an email ?

All the time. Many things I sign up for end up there and I'm hoping un-spamming them will keep them out forever.

    5) Do you try to figure out why an email went there ?

I don't spent any time on it. Google prob. won't tell how the logic is written anyway.
