Blog or Newsletters?

I'm starting a new niche and I want to start it with just giving away free information.

I'm wondering if I should give the free information through blogs or through newsletters..

I want to collect as many emails as I can and I understand Newsletters would be the best way for that..

but

I want to use the free information to help my page rank with google and I understand blogs would definitely help with that..

I'm confused on which way to go... Help appreciated!

    I gues both , you can say on the blog page something like : If you want to be updated daily with our news please subscribe to our newsletter... or something like that

    I'd do a blog and have my sign-up form for a newsletter on the blog ... in other words, do both.

    I think both the methods are excellent and can help you. News letters method is good when you know your audience.You can ask the people to subscribe for your news letter.The second method is blog, you can create your blog for free and you can use it.

      Like the others said - do both.

      But importantly here's why...

      With a newsletter you begin to build a list which will be
      a valuable asset in your business.

      Sending out a newsletter will also allow you to contact
      your subscribers proactively - rather than them having
      to go to your blog to view your content.

      Whenever you send out a newsletter, you can also add
      it to your blog so you begin to build a content-rich site.
      So, people can read your content online and comment
      on it if they want to.

      Remember that people want things delivered to them on
      a platter rather than having to hunt the information down
      and sending out a newsletter allows you to do that.

      So do both.
