Need some ideas to help monetize a blog

Hey guys...

My father has 2 blogs. One that's personal and one that's on a specific topic. He writes for the local residents (Croatia mostly) and he writes in Croatian.

So he asked me to ask you guys, since u are the experts, on ideas how to monetize his blogs.

People here in Croatia aren't used to buying or paying for stuff online (only 15% of us do that) so he's wondering if you guys have some idea on how he can monetize his blogs, perhaps some scripts that would "force" the visitors to do some CPA offers b4 he can reveal the content of the posts etc...

He tried with a membership script but it didn't work out so now he'd like to find new ways to monetize.

Thank you all in advance for your help

If your looking for that. It would be CPALead or PerfectTracking.

      adsense perhaps?

The blog that has a specific topic should promote affiliate products related to that topic.

IE: if it's a blog about cooking, you can promote cooking gadgets or cook books.

  • It sounds to me as though it's a site where people will go to for free content, but won't pay for that same content. I'd immediately question whether any of them would go through CPA offers, particularly on a regular basis, and assuming they're easily available in Croatian.

Plus, by hiding the content away, he's going to be losing out on the indexing opportunities. Presumably this would decreate the site traffic and be counterproductive.

To me, it sounds as though advertising or affiliate promotion is the way to go. I don't know enough specifics about the Croatian market to suggest programmes, but I'm sure there are many. Even selling advertising directly to local businesses, or putting up banner ads inviting advertising, might be a good way to proceed.

true, but not many people click on stuff... we've had adsense on the site for over 2 years now and we still haven't made $50 altogether... it's just not as profitable

there aren't any affiliate markets in Croatia or intended specifically for Croatia... our economy is going down, everything is overpriced and people are about 30 years behind in thinking like a normal modern society...

People don't want to buy anything online. period... thus we need something that they can do, ie. click on something or fill out something and that we get paid for it...

people here have barely money to pass the month let alone buy something online... it's like a whole diferent world here... a one ruled by morons, i'm afraid...

    Toni,

    Croatia is a beautiful country.

But yeah, I don't think that trying to monetize those blogs is something worthwhile doing... The only thing that could maybe work in those circumstances is Adsense, but even then - I wouldn't bother.

Edit: well I just read you saying that Adsense didn't work for you. See the thing with CPA ads is that they will cut you off if the leads don't convert (and it's more than likely that they won't). Some niches you just cannot monetize. That's just how it is.

I don't see any obvious ways of monetizing this particular blog. Like other people on here are saying, you might just want to stick some adsense on it and build a crapload of backlinks.

Other than that, there isn't much you can do. Maybe promote an amazon product every once in a while? Get more traffic?

Some niches are just very difficult to monetize. This might be one of them.
