Amazon Affiliate Conversion

Hello! I have a few sites in which I use one Amazon affiliate banner in the header (usually the ones advertising bestselling books and entertainment.) These banners always get clicks but no conversions. It seems that with Amazon, one is more likely to improve conversion by having affiliate links in blog posts rather than random banners splashed on the page. (Though I'm not sure.)

My question is, since the banners always get clicks, should I replace them with an adsense ad of the same size: 468x60 (which would make money) or is it not necessarily true that because an Amazon ad was clicked in that header location, that an adsense ad would be?

I'm not the most educated in these things, so all thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Aja

The Amazon widgets and images get clicked a lot with low conversions... But, if you put text links in your articles with some pre-sell before hand, your clicks will go down but conversions will go up - in my experience... Also, you have to make sure that the niche you're in isnt just a nonbuyer niche... I had one site that i got tons of clicks but few sales... Then it dawned on me one day that most of the people visiting my site were probably kids - who are interested in the products and click over to amazon - but dont generally have credit cards :-)
