Affiliate Marketing - need some serious help as I'm not getting anywhere

Hi guys

I've been an affiliate for just over a year now (well, trying anyway!). I've spent a lot of money on courses by well known people and even watched the 30 day challenge (not sure if you all know what that is?).

I'll be honest, i've spent thousands of dollars on advertising and in total i've only made about 6 sales. I was in a pretty big niche, so I changed and started going for micro niches. Now i'm spending money on advertising and I'm not getting any sales at all because the sales pages for these micro niches are so bad.

To all successful affiliates out there - whats the secret? I've followed methods for SEO, and still, i'm not getting anywhere. How do all these 16 year old millionaires do it? What am i doing wrong?

How do you find the right niche / micro niche to go for?

I live in London, so affiliate marketing and making money online isn't such a massive thing here yet - what do all you Americans know that I don't lol

Would really appreciate some help.

Thanks for looking.

    Hey Esh

Just remember that these affiliate success stories are very rare compared to how many are doing it and many of the so called success stories are using offline conferences etc to get their success.

There are some who succeed at affiliate marketing however but trying to do it in the IM field is very difficult.

I personally did affiliate marketing for a long time which taught me all the skills I needed to get going and then started marketing for different businesses.

In other words I set up myself as an affiliate for local businesses which has worked out great.

I find various local businesses and offer to build a website for them and sell their products on commission.

This is by far the best affiliate marketing I have done and a lot more profitable and long lasting.

    Hi Esh,

Some of the things you were saying are symptomatic of you problems.
You said: "I even watched the 30 day challenge" .... "even" ? this is a basic course so no "even" about that and the main issue: "watched" - you should have "done" it and not just watched it.

Succeeding is all about doing, consistently, over and over again.

"because the sales pages for these micro niches are so bad" - you don't like them? Create your own! You should anyway... Most of the online work we do is generating traffic. If you don't capture the details of the visitors to your pages than this is probably the last time you will see them.

Every sales funnel should start (or at least have) a good capture page.

"How do all these 16 year old millionaires do it?" Really.... you are naive to believe everything they tell you.... If you read those stories carefully you will discover suspicious similarities

"whats the secret?" There is no secret. Select a good niche, good product, good buying keywords and generate traffic for it. Best way to go is two fold:
    1) Short term - articles, forums and Yahoo answers.
    2) Long term - (SEO work) on page seo, articles, forums, blogs and more articles

    I hope that helps,
    Ely
