Alright, I am letting out a cool "video marketing" secret of mine. People are charging for this !!

I have bought a few WSOs about video marketing recently and their sales page focus on how to do this...

This "secret" is not really a secret because Google keeps an open book about this... they are encouraging webmasters to do this actually!

You see in the above screenshot I got a video result from one of the pages in my blog.

The nearby YouTube video is also mine but by clicking the first result the user lands on my site.

All you have to do is install the FLV embed plugin and upload your video in your own server and embed it in your blog's page. Then use the video sitemap feature in the FLV embed plugin to create a video sitemap like mine:

http://bikeadvice.in/videofeed.xml

Submit the video sitemap to Google webmaster tools and within a few days your videos will get indexed.

Go ahead and try it.

Refer to my previous post in WF for more info:

- Deepak Raj

Update: A warrior tried this method after reading this thread and here's the results he got...

Hope that gives you some more proof that it works. So start taking action immediately

  • Great Tip Deepak! I didn't know it was that simple. Thank You.

    • Cool video tip. Does it suck a lot of bandwidth hosting it yourself?

Also, that Honda bike actually looks pretty cool ... but, I can't think of anyone I know that's into motorcycles that would ride one called a "Unicorn Dazzler" ... lol

Has kind of a "Lisa Frank" sound to it.

  • Goodness, I've created hundreds of videos and I didn't even know that.

Thanks for the generous tip, Deepak. Will try this immediately for some of my CPA campaigns!

  • Definitely a great tip.
  • Yesterday that video went away and came back again. The usual Google dance.

Now I noticed that it ranks for another shorter keyword which has 1.4m results

  • I looked at your site, why dont you use the video to try and up your optins? You could play a few seconds of the video for them and get them to optin to see the full video or something... then you can try to sell them all sorts of stuff... Also, are there no affiliate offers you could promote thru CJ that would interest motorcycle enthusiasts? I think you just need to monetize the site better... Your adsense was showing a chevrolet ad and your other banners were for delta and shopify - so you cant be making much from that... Figure out what you can sell them... Maybe its tattoos? Or maybe its tshirts and stuff like Harley Davidson people like to buy... I would find something for them...

    • The site get 99% traffic from India and no one has an affiliate program serving India and indian consumers. The market is young as I said. Got a good foundation. Will help a lot in future when the US trend catches up here.
  • hi Deepak, thanks for sharing i have learnt another new thing today, hope others have also . looking foward to new tricks and tips
  • Deepak,
That is a good tip.thanks for sharing
  • Thanks - I have a non-WP site that needs a sitemap.

I just used this tool with success:

Download - Google Video Sitemap Software

(I am not affiliated with this site)
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • There is another sitemap generator just about to come on the market, which does all sorts of sites, as well as manage all your sites from one spot (WP and static)

      @Deepak,

I have done similar with your trick (but I use a paid plugin that does it for my WP and static sites):
Below are some of the results I have gotten over the last few weeks for my videos

      Example #1
      http://screencast.com/t/YWNiN2QxOTQt

I have 2 listings on the first page (1 my site the other youtube listing)

      Example #2
      http://screencast.com/t/OTcxMWI5N

once again 2 listings on the first page, but this time both coming back to my site

      This is a cool tip.

  • Here's another tip for you all who are using articles.

Take each one of your articles and make a video of yourself talking about that subject and then upload it to YouTube.

People are more likely to click on a video of yours then an article.

So take each article, make a video out of it, upload it to YouTube, and then watch how you get some free traffic to it and to your link that you will need to add to your video.

    • Thank you. Very much appreciated.
  • This is great advice, but the problem is that it drains bandwidth. Yeah, and bandwidth is max expensive. Those web hosting companies that offer seven terabytes of bandwidth per month - they will shut you down as soon as you hit seven gigs.
    • [1] reply
    • I talked with hostgator about this and they said they are ok with me uploading videos. Though it may not be as fast as Amazon s3... it will do OK for the time being.

They say that inodes is the only thing they look into in terms of usage. If you hit 100,000 inodes, they want you to go to dedicated server.

  • Nice idea, I'll defintely have to try this : O.

  • Hi, Thanks for this great tip by the way!

I've got a question. I finally build a video sitemap but the site map doesnt show picture of the video beside the title? unlike your sitemap that has the picture of the motorcycle?
    how do i fix this?

I am now implementing this. so i'll get back and update y'all the results with it
    • [1] reply
    • [flv:video-URL poster-image-URL width height] - use this syntax when embedding videos.

Include the image URL and you will be fine. But google does not take your image URL most of the time. They take a shot from inside the video themselves like YouTube. Perhaps they are preventing web masters from possible misleading of users.

  • This is the "real" tip .. 1st recognize that there
are very few true "secrets" and then stop looking
for one before you create a product and sell it.

Does Harvard have any "secrets"? Or do they simply
take information that is publicly available in any
FREE library and consolidate / organize and then
    teach it?

Think about it .. then go do the same. You can create
a "quality education" like Harvard does and then sell
it for a hefty profit (like Harvard does).

P.S. Ever hear anyone complain because Harvard
taught them the same math used everywhere else?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Learning math and applying said math creatively. One way you're just a math geek, the other you're Bill Gates.

So yeah, its a good tip.
  • Information + Understanding = Knowledge
    Knowledge + Experience = Wisdom

Wisdom + Persistence = Change in Behavior

    Learning = Change in Behavior

Harvard enables transformation, in other words changes the behaviour of students. That's why they charge so much.
    • [1] reply
    • Funnily enough, my college says the exact same thing - exact same example. Though they don't charge nearly the same thing! LOL

  • "People are charging for this!!"

    Hell yes we are! :-)

Business owners don't have the time, manpower or know-how to do this. They just want the ROI.

With 200-300 videos you can SLAY the competition. This is a great tactic but must be followed up with BM's and links from articles to make it sticky

  • I am trying to do this and failing. I cant seem to get the video embedded on the page. The fields in the plug in are all in techno-speak and there are no clear instructions within the plug in on the plug in page and is therefore useless. Seems that unless you are very flash savvy, this is a non starter.

The problems started when the file with my video in (loads of flies in a folder after I converted to .flv) was too large to upload using the media upload thingy in wordpress. So I uploaded it with ftp to the domain root. Now I can not figure out how to put the video on the page and how to set up the complicated plug in settings. I am lost. Can anyone help please?
    • [1] reply
    • @Paleochora,

I presume you are meaning the google video sitemap plugin? If so, then you need to install one of the following:

      1) I use a free video embed plugin called "Flash Video Player" http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/flash-video-player

1a) Or you can use Easy Video Player (which is a paid solution)

      2) Then you can use short cut code like:

      Code:
      [flashvideo file=http://video.yoursite.com/test.mp4 image=http://www.youtsite.com/images/test.jpg /]
Then the plugin will pick up you are using flash video player and you should all be good, then go into the google video plugin settings and re-create the video sitemap and then go ping it..and you're done.

      Hope that helps.

      Carl

  • I am curious as to how to sumbit info to Bing and Yahoo as well. Is there a MRSS function or output that I am missing here?
    • [1] reply
    • If you are using the google video sitemap plugin there is an option in there already you can either output to google video sitemap or mRSS (all automatically), then you take the url and submit to yahoo site explorer, and I am sure you can do the same for Bing.

      see example here:

      Hope that helps

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Just ran across this post - thanks for the info, exactly what I was looking for.
    • [1] reply
    • When you use this technique will it work best on a keyword with low searches.
Any advice on a good monthly search amount to use?
Would it work ok on a global search of 33,100 with high competition?
  • Thanks, great tip
  • What the funk!?!?! Does it usually take a longer then a week to get indexed??? I submitted my videos like a week ago and they are still not index. Any ideas????
    • [1] reply
    • if your pages are indexed and ranks well, then a video on that page will result in the video getting indexed very fast. if ur pages don't have good ranking then your videos will take long time to be indexed. some time even a month.
  • Fantastic tip. I've been hosting my own videos for a couple of years and never thought about submitting a video sitemap. I'll definitely test this one out.
  • Wow! thanks for sharing this insight here. it's very helpful in emphasizing how video marketing can work for marketers in terms of ranking. Great job!
  • DeePak,
This is great and I am trying to implement it. Unfortunately it does not work for me. I upload the video flv files. Installed the FLV Embed. But I can not embed the video in my post It does not work.I might not inserting the video location the right way. I also did not find where you create the site map file. The name of my video file is video1. flv and it is in the public_html directory. I am not familiar with word-press and actually don't know ho to embed files into posted so please explain to me step by step.
I can not pm yet here but if you can email me at elik1111@gmail.com that will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Eli

By the way, I didn't find it very clear from the description, were you able to rank your video without building any backlinks to it? Or does that only work in low-competitive niches?

      Thanks again,
