Who is top dog in creating membership sites...

... and I don't mean membership software! Who out there is making a full-time living on running membership sites. That would include coming up with the subject matter, driving traffic, SEO, marketing, etc?

    Chris Farrell certainly is.
    I know quite few of my clients are making 10 times more cash from using my software than I do from sales of my software.
    This is particularly related to clients in self help industry and market trading.

      Thanks Tina and Gleb! I am amazed that it is so hard to find membership experts. As popular as these things are you would think there would be a lot of them out there but I can't seem to think of anyone off the top of my head.

        Well, as usual easy to find "experts" are the one who needs to learn the most The guys who are making real money don't need to be found and they just do what they love and successful at.
        I could try to touch base with some and see if they would be willing to share tips, bits and pieces.
        I suspect one word summary from them would be: "passion".

          Thanks Gleb! Actually, I have something else in mind. I would love to talk to those who have self help sites but my main purpose was something different. I don't want to mention it here but I would like to talk to anyone who is making a full time income online specifically from membership sites!

      I would LOVE to know who those people would be because that is my passion. I know you probably have confidentiality issues you have to abide by but let me know if any of them are willing to talk to me about self help membership sites. It is somthing I have wanted to do for a long time.

      Actually it's cool to hear from customers doing that well...

      When I owned a computer retail store we built custom computers for a lot of businesses. The one graphic design company down the road would buy them...pay $1300 for the machine and make $4k from it over the weekend designing something...

      Ahh I am so glad I am not in computer hardware anymore...

      One of the reasons I went into programming for many years...more money in it... Then completely over to IM...more money in it lol

    Here you go. The most successful Guy I know of, running a membership site is the one I try and fail miserably to copy.

    I have a membership site and I have made what I consider a fair amount of cash from it. When I grow up I want to be just like my Mentor. He doesn't know he is my mentor but I have studied everything I can get my hands on from him.

    He is the King of the one time payment membership site and that is what I have. Our customers pay one time and are life time members. I don't make 1 tenth of 1% what my mentor makes, however, I'm growing.

    You have probably guessed by now I'm talking about Allen Says.

    Years ago I paid a little under 50 bucks to join the Warriors of Internet Marketing Secret Site. It was full of downloadable goodies and my 50 bucks got me a life time membership.

    The Warrior forum was just a "side benefit" of being a member of the Warriors Secret Site.

    The forum grew and became free, but wait, there is the War Room. Again, a life time membership for, a small fee.

    One only has to look at the number of WSOs running to see that this "Membership Site" is a nice business, and I only paid one time to be a life time member

    Allen stated here once that he would never start a monthly Membership site (again, he did once) because of the headaches it caused. I agree.

    So my vote for someone who makes a full time living running a membership site

      Are you asking about companies operating sites, or about gurus teaching about them and also having their own?

      There are a lot of corporations with very big sites- making more than the gurus do.

      How about audible.com, zacks, morningstar, NYT, Dow Jones, Agora? Then there's the XXX industry...

      If you are looking for IM gurus - Ryan Lee + Ryan Deiss, although Ryan D has been promoting wider IM products of late, his team are still putting up membership sites.

    Yaro Stanak has done OK out of Membership Sites - and has a course if you're interested.

    I've not seen the course but heard good things about it.

    Also Jimmy D Brown did a simple Membership Site course called Membernaire I think - it's pretty cheap. And although it's simple - in that it is only in PDF format - his info is always of a pretty high standard. (Again I've not seen it though, just head about it).

    try membershipsiteowner.com - i am getting ready to sign up for a $1 - 21 day trial. it is owned by the owner of membergate - a leading membership software, but i am more interested in learning how to create an authority site, and begin to build membership levels. really target a loyal "customer list".
