Keywords that say "not enough data"

Hi Gang

Sorry, after 2 years, I should know the answer to this but just need to confirm with you.

Say I've got a long(ish) tail keyword, say 4 or 5 words long, and I plug it into Google Keywords (or Keyword Elite which I use but I think that's pullling it from Google anyway) and it says "not enough data to show results" or words to that effect.

1) It can be a keyword which is too current for it to be picked up i.e the naeme of a latest computer game
2) There are liteally nobody searching for it or too few results

...but here's my question. If it's a phrase which I have found out that a site is definitely using to drive traffic to it and I'm farily sure gets reasonable searches, would I be right in saying that the reason it's not registering is because Google isn't releasing ALL the data on the entire keyword list (unless you pay full access to things like word tracker or some of the monthly subscription sites). OR.....am I missing something.

Thanks,
Phil

I think Google collects it's data from ALL it's datacenters. So your keyword might only be getting traffic from one certain geographical location. So google won't show it. But that doesn't mean it doesn't get traffic.

Ah, good point, I hadn't thought of that. However, the site is American and the keyword isn't regional specifc as it's reasonably general, but of coures I can't tell 100%.
